"It has been challenging, taking Rayyan out to the malls, or going to the movies like any other families. Visits to the doctors can be a real challenge. The sensory overload from the environment, the crowd, unfamiliar places, sounds, lights, smells and unpredictability often leads to his crying or screaming." (Datin Nor Hafizah Binti Saad, 2023)
In line with our 2023 WAAM theme, Becoming Autism Friendly, we want to advocate for making changes to the environment to better accommodate individuals with needs, rather than focusing on changing the individual to adapt into the environment!
The 4As of how you can be Autism Friendly:
1. Awareness - educate yourself on Autism
2. Acceptance - be kind and accepting of differences
3. Accommodate - make accommodations to cater to their needs
4. Advocate - include and stand up for them
Please join us in raising awareness and acceptance on autism by sharing this video!

May Allah bless you and your son. He is a gift to you by Allah to make you better people. I know this for fact because my son is also autistic. I thank Allah everyday for him. I'm from France where the education system is struggling to hire specialized educators for challenged kids. I'm thinking about moving to Malaysia but I'm afraid of the language barrier, even though my son has a talent for acquiring new languages, after being non verbal for the first 7 years of his life (He's 11 today). Are there any arrangements possible for foreigners? May Allah reward you.
