Hi Luke. You are an inspiration. I am 67 and from UK. A lover of space rock ever since seeing Hawkwind in 1972. A fan of them ever since. Also like Ozric Tentacles, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Crystal Machine... Since retirement I have discovered midi controllers, DAW's and VST and realised that I can make those noises. I am still 'seeking' and you have helped me find a way of putting those noises together. All the best for 2024. Peter

Very nearly 61 now, and still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up (except retired -- I know I want to be that when I grow up). Yes, RELEASE! As a friend of mine says, "Don't die with your music in you" (he's not the only one who said it, but he's the one wrote and /released/ a song about it).

Hello Luke. I see that in the comments about the age of the subscribers we are the same. I'm almost 62 years old and I grew up listening to TD and Kraftwerk. I dreamed that one day I would emulate sounds different from what was generally heard then. And I found the magic words "Berlin school", that has been my great achievement this year that disappears. And find you Mr. Professor. Thank you very much for your videos that I follow. Happy 2024 and take care of ourselves.😀

Hi Luke I have discovered your channel just some months ago and keep coming back on a regular basis. Your calm and entertaining way of explaining your work flow is really fun, relaxing and educational at the same time. Big TD fan here. And my fascination for TD was revived immensely after attending their concert in Hannover in October - including a little spontaneous "nerd out" with the band about synths and modular after the show. I discovered your channel earlier this year base on one of your 'How to berlin school" videos. Just like you I have a main job in tech (software developer) but during the pandemic I wanted to teach myself to learn piano to keep my brain up there. Nex thing I know I bought a Fantom 8 and I am dabbling into synth stuff. Big Berlin School lover (Klaus Schulze, Frusse, Tangerine Dream, Sankt Otten, but also Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre, ...). So you actually gave me some inspiration to try that out. And i'm not musically schooled at all, but I love the experimenting :-) Keep up the good work.

But no worries ... my personal channel doesn't have any content at all, except for 2 or 3 videos about me trying to play a simple piano song :-) I might make it one of my new years resolution to make at least one song in 2024

Hi Luke thanks for all the great stuff you’ve posted. I’ve learnt a ton of stuff from you regarding Berlin School methods. I’ve been recording my own electronica since the 1970s (I’m 64) and I still regret selling my Ensoniq ESQ-1 back in the 90s 😢.

Hey there Greg! Thanks for the feedback! You’ll have to share a link to your music that you’ve been recording. I checked out your channel and I didn’t see anything and I’d love to hear what you make! As for the ESQ one don’t regret selling it, because you can find them very inexpensively now, or get an excellent virtual version, which is effectively the same since it was a digital synth. Granted it doesn’t have the same feel but you could always buy used. Good luck!

Thanks for the tree-side chat, been subbed for a while but didn't know why, cool channel name and catchy thumbnails I guess? lol, glad you made this video looking forward to more inspiring content. You mentioned more modular (not a fan) hopefully you will convince us otherwise, the modular invasion reminds me of what the British invasion was in the '60s but for synths, definitely has a European stigma about it IMO 😅

It’s good that you express your distaste for modular synths. I’ll do my best to show how they mix with virtual and classic synths and bass guitar (“keeping it low”) in fun and interesting ways. I try to travel down ALL the synth avenues. See you later!

Cheers Luke, hope you have an awesome Christmas break. Good luck heading into 2024. The new album has my name on it via Bandcamp - and will take proud place with the other 2 albums. I've never used Discord, much like I also wouldn't build lots of social media profiles either. Don't forget the burn-out of Jamuary 23, so pace yourself and be realistic. Whatever schedule "you" choose is fine. Without our health, we have very little. Nice to see subs growing since after the Jamuary drop off, there's nothing as weird as YT and its analytics huh. Happy Holidays, Luke. Can't wait to hear and see what you come up with for 2024. Old? I just turned 60 this year, and our son has been out of the house for 11 years now, so I get the whole empty nest thing. I find that Berlin-School style music tends to played more by us older guys anyway, since we remember the original bands like Tangerine Dream, and Christopher Franke's work on the Babylon 5 soundtracks. Also, could you let us know about some of the upcoming synth events in Massachusetts this year. A lot of us New Englanders want to get more involved in the "synth community."

As for keeping up on the NESF and local synth events, the easiest ways to be aware is to either join the New England Synth Community Discord (link in the description) or if installing the Discord chat app isn't a thing you want to do, you can keep on top of events by visiting the Boston Modular and Synth Meetup ( www.meetup.com/boston-modular-and-synth-meetup/ ) or I believe there is a Facebook page (that I don't use) located here: facebook.com/groups/1175424065881879/ Other than those, I will do my best to mention event I'll be attending in advance. :) See you around!

Love your videos. Been a fan of KS,TD for 50 years and will never loose interest in Berlin School. Have a few HW synth in my rack and a few VST ones. And yes, still have GAS and very slowly building a HW Modular system, and in the meantime toy around with VCV Rack and CA Voltage Modular (VM900 collection) I'm an absolute amateur and proud of it. I don't have an imposter syndrome, just being one is so much more fun. So I don't have to live up to anyones expectations let alone my own expectation.🎶 😝
