I'm VERY certain that Vital's CPU usage differs depending on the complexity of the synth patch and the rendering quality. I've never used other VSTs, though.
Hey SS! Im Doug. a new owner of an ESQ 1, it has sftwre 3.5 on it. The first day I hooked MIDI in/out to it to control from Ableton, the board went haywire and started throwing error codes... Any advice on settings or how I can get my ESQ connected to Ableton for similar processing and control?
Hi Luke, I've watched some of your vídeos on Berlin School and I realized you don't use effect sends, you prefer to put the effects directly on the instrument track. Do you make all your tracks like that, or just the examples?
I tend to make all my tracks that way…which is very inefficient but it lets me tailor my processing with a finer fidelity. I also use mostly hardware in my regular music production and so my cpu is almost entirely used for processing external synths rather than driving vsts. Let me know if you want to discuss further. ;)
@@synthseeker Yes, I'd like to understand better the "using sends" versus "effect directly in the track" question. The way I see, using sends could make the track sound as everything is happening in just one room, or in just one big stage. The effect directly in the track is nice to set the distance from the listener, thanks to the dry/wet ratio. Maybe this is matter for a new vídeo...
@@fabiovsroque I actually tend to stack reverbs, using a small room reverb as an insert to move the instrument forward and back in the soundstage then apply a large reverb for ambience. I’ll try to talk about it in an upcoming video.
I haven't been able to find any information on whether there are any rules or recommendations on what tempo to choose. Most of the Berlin School music appears to be a bit too fast and therefore too stressful to me, but it may be due to all the echoing and eigths notes and not so much - not enough for my personal taste - space between all the sounds(?)
There are no rules, but a safe place to start is between 75 and 85 bpm. If you play eight notes at that tempo and use a dotted eighth delay, you will achieve one of the common Berlin School textures. :) happy to discuss! But honestly do whatever moves you.
Hi Luke, at 9:50 there a mention of a video on delays which was supposed to be linked in the description. I searched for it on you tube to no avail. Could you please kindly provide a link to the video/s on delays. Given the large quantity of videos you have on your channel perhaps you should consider setting up a chronological playlist of your teachings. Thanks for all the outstanding contributions you have shared with us past and future. 🎉🎉🎉
Howdy I want to try push 3 standalone for experimental noise/ harsh noise / idm/ music concrete music. Would push 3 standalone be worth it with ONLY intro ?
Push 3 standalone includes a license for intro. So it will work. But I’m not sure what sort of limitations you’ll run into when you try and move a live set from push three standalone to your computer.
