Thanks for a great down to earth video, kudos sir.

Thank you for the review. One feature I would like to see would be RAW pre-capture on both the z8 and z9.

Yes, that would be nice. I never use that feature, but if I did, I'd want raw files.

Nice photos! You always do a great job no matter what the camera body is.

Thanks! I appreciate it. Some people on the Internet make a good point when they say I could make most of the photos I make with just about any camera and that’s true because most of what I shoot is static subjects and scenes that don’t really require high-level auto focus tracking. But of course I do like to have a camera that will do basically anything I would ever want to do in case I want to expand or grow into another type of photography where I would need something like fast action focus tracking. Z8 is definitely a camera like that, does anything I want to do. I’ve also thought in the past and still believe it today that micro 4/3 would be the ideal system for me if it had more native resolution, high ISO quality that matches the high-end APS-C cameras and at least 14 stops of dynamic range for photos.

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist nothing wrong with having more camera that you need. Thats where I’m at now. I agree with you about micro four thirds. I shot with it for a few years. But, I was shooting a lot of low light stuff. I decided it would be better with full frame. But, there’s a lot of stuff I shot that I would be happy with a crop sensor. I just don’t want to deal with multiple systems.

I understand that. I keep telling myself I don't want to deal with two systems, but having the Z8, for me there really isn't a true need for me to have a second Nikon Z body unless I just wanted to...so that's brings me back to wanting to try out a m4/3 camera again. The goal this time was to not pay anything our of pocket (I'll sell the Z fc kit) and that's how it's going to work out with me getting the E-M10 III. I went back and looked at my old Lumix G85 gallery and it made me smile because I have plenty of photos from that little 16MP body that make me happy: www.thephotographyhobbyist.com/CAMERAGEAR/Panasonic-G85-Gallery @@bobdrawbaugh4207

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist I agree! I had the original EM5. I thought it was the perfect travel camera. I had the little 40-150 plastic fantastic, and the 20mm f1.8. I shoot every thing and had great results. Way cheaper than my full frame kit. LOL

Yeah...my Z8 + 24-120 kit is literally around 10x more expensive than this little E-M10 kit. 😅@@bobdrawbaugh4207

Nikon please, on the Z8 we would like for next firmware version 3.0, when we turn the top Control Panel display ON, to be a little brighter and with a little more contrast

I've been on Sony for the last 3 years. I'm thinking on adding the Z8 to my kit. I have quite an investment in E-Mount lenses; so I'm thinking of using something like a Megadap adaptor. Have you had a chance to test adapted lenses on the Z8?
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 7 месяцев назад
So far I have only used native Z mount lenses on the Z8. I think the only “adapted lens” I’ve ever used on the Nikon Z cameras is the Nikon F mount lenses using the Nikon adapter for that.

Nice photos. Good to go on some holiday trips before time runs out. Something I should do myself. Might put aside my D810 bodies and lenses in a month or two, I would get the Z8 and the 24-120, it seems like a good combo. Though I would also want a macro and probably a long lens. I still like my D810 gear and would actually miss not having the pop up flash in the Z body, though with the better noise in the Z body plus the stabilisation I guess the need for flash reduces. I know the pop up flash is far from a pro result but it has been of use to me a number of times. I’ve got Godox flash gear but don’t usually have it with me when needed unexpectedly.

Thanks. Yes, you should get out in travel as much as you can or as much as you want to while you’re able to. Definitely. I would love having a pop-up flash on this camera but it’s been quite a while since I’ve had a camera that did have a pop-up flash, so I’ve gotten used to it. I will be going on a trip to Egypt this coming summer, so unless I hear something that would make me worried about taking the Z8, I plan on taking that camera on the trip. I think it’ll be fine though because it’s a group trip and I would always be around other people in my group and I would never leave my camera in the hotel room for example, it would always be strapped across my body so the only way it could ever go missing is if someone physically assaulted me. I really don’t think that would happen on a tour and then probably like Egypt because I think thieves know in Egypt they may get the crap beat out of them by the police. 😅

I just moved from a D810 to a Z8 this month. I love my D810 to death and only hope to love the Z8 as much. I went hog-wild with an F4 Trinity: 14-30mm, 24-120mm, and 100-400mm. The cherry on top is the 50mm 1.8. So far, I'm just loving it all. Will be in New Zealand for all of March 2024.

@@marcusgrandon3640 New Zealand is apparently a beautiful landscape. It is geologically unstable which has resulted in a nice place to photograph but maybe not to live. They’ve had some pretty horrific earthquakes over time.

These photos could have been achieved with much less specs than the Z8.
@ThePhotographyHobbyist
@ThePhotographyHobbyist 7 месяцев назад
Sure. I could have used a D600, but I don’t want to shoot with a D600, Z7, etc. I could have used a m4/3 camera too, but higher ISO and dynamic range is behind FF which makes the images more noisy especially after editing (I’ve had several of those cameras). If however someone doesn’t have a budget to buy a Z8, yes you can shoot non-sports, good lighting photos with any cameras at a lower price.

Forgot to mention, there’s also something to be said for “ease of use“. The ease of use scenario for me with the Z8 is being able to use AFC with 3-D tracking even for static subjects, which makes focus/recompose very fast and reliable. Even though I rarely shoot fast action, I leave the camera in AFC and 3-D tracking just because it’s so reliable even for static subjects
