A lot of folks saying it’s overpriced, but I don’t know - if it drives well, seems like it could be the modern take on the Jaguar I-PACE, and that thing is phenomenal! We have a Jaguar I-PACE EV as our daily driver. This replaced our 970 Panamera Turbo (both of which we bought used btw), a car that most ICE fans would probably agree is a pretty good daily driver in its own right. And I can honestly say the Jag is better in every single way. I don’t miss the Panamera one bit, neither does the wife. With the Jag, there’s no automatic transmission to get confused around town, never getting into a hot or cold car with preconditioning, there’s insane instant torque, the smoothness and refinement is unmatched (not only because no engine noise but also because the 1000 pound battery insulates you from road noise), the use of space is excellent (small on the outside and big on the inside because no engine), low center of gravity, naturally perfect weight distribution, being able to blow by anyone in traffic anytime, never being in the wrong gear, way more efficient, never being late because I had to stop for gas, no maintenance, quicker than most v8 family cars and more efficient than i-4 family cars, etc etc. And even though on paper the panamera was faster 0-60, in real life around town it’s not even close - the Jag would be gone before the panamera would even get into the right gear. Yes, it can be annoying on road trips - but it's not the end of the world unless you road trip all the time. It's the better car 364 days of the year, and the worse car 1 day of the year. Having said all of that, like I said I'm an enthusiast, and we also have two sports cars (manual transmission c7 corvette stingray and an R56 Mini Cooper JCW, both of which I frequently use for road rallys and autocross), and I have no desire for either of those to be electric. The whole point of those cars is a visceral, loud, lightweight, connected experience with a manual transmission. I know there is a Boxster EV coming soon and I’m sure it’ll be great and smoke my c7 around any racetrack, but I have no interest at all, even as a current EV owner. Sports cars should be gas powered and manual IMO. So as I said, each has their purpose. I don’t see myself ever going back to gas for daily driver, and I don’t see myself ever going EV for sports cars. My point is simple: EVs are better at some things, and gas cars are better at some things. "Taking a side" doesn't make sense, even for enthusiasts. Just acknowledge what the other is better at. EVs dont work for everyone (you need a place to charge and can't road trip all the time etc etc), but if it works in your lifestyle - try it before you knock it is all I'm saying. You might be surprised. And like I said - just because a car is EV doesn't make it good. There are good EVs and bad ones, just like gas cars. For example, I' not a huge Tesla fan. But, the well-executed EVs are, in my opinion, the best daily drivers, if they fit into your lifestyle. ...and this is coming from someone that's 37 years old and currently on his 8th manual transmission sports car (Vette, Mini JCW, 350Z, etc etc). And to be clear - these are my favorite cars, not the I-PACE. But, I have a wife and a kid, and we need something that isn't manual and has a back seat. And in that category, the Jag is by far and away the best we've had.

I'd pick the much more attractive GV70 over the ZDX but yeah the Acura, just like the rest of the luxury EV crossovers, pretty much beats the uncompetitive Lexus RZ.

I think from the outside it looks amazing; the rear wind is a little bit generic looking, kinda reminds me of an ILX, but it’s not bad. I don’t think the interior looks all that premium tho. That’s where the GM parts show imo. The GV70, GV60 and RZ all do the interior look better for a luxury brand in my opinion

I seriously think GM removing Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is a major mistake. Even if it only applies to their electric vehicles, I think it’s enough of a feature that shoppers will go to other brands because of it.

I wonder if shoppers won't know it's based on a GM vehicle until they get inside and see the Onstar button.😅😅😅😅😅Acura doesn't show that in their commericials lol.

16:00 I've used the two paddle system of the Kia EV6. I find the Lyriq's regenerative braking paddle better. IT's straightforward and easy to understand. It can be used as a brake - rather than the foot brake - in Highway traffic.

So I compared the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N ($66k) to Acura A-Spec AWD ($68k). Acura A-spec has 304 range and the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N has 221 range. Which one would you buy?

It's a nice-looking vehicle, especially in this red colour. I like it better than the Genesis in looks. Up here in Canada this vehicle STARTS at $87,616.50. Yikes!

ZDX over Lyriq? ZDX has B&O audio, rear wiper and HUD, Lyriq has the big screen infotainment. Since GM is rolling out J3400 (NACS) adapters Tesla superchargers availability is close, will this also apply to the ZDX?

That large bezel on the left of the infotainment screen is bothersome. Volume knob placement looks like an afterthought. However, this is a good start for Honda/Acura for the NA market.

The exterior is kinda hateable IMO ("hearse vibe" side profile, the grille setup and everything, goofy ..) . The interior looks good though. Very Good: ° Separate driver's display with good size and features/layout, ° Shifter stalk, ° Lights/wipers control stalk, ° Large center/infotainment display, ° Physical knobs & buttons for climate control, ° General dashboard layout, ° Center console/storage layout Tesla's interior is rather too "tidy", this one is relatively balanced and functional

I quite honestly like it a lot. I just can't accept that huge size compared to a relatively small interior. Also, I'm not willing to accept low roof lines. I don't care if it's an EV. I still like high headroom inside to retain that open airy feeling.

A strip of black electrical tape can fix the "Hearst vibes" of the rear panel accent strip.

Solid start for Acura into pure play BEV far better to work with GM unless Sony has some type of "secret plan" Honda could have used...which Sony did show off a pure play BEV a *WAY* long time ago so maybe Japan Inc. might have something to offer for their Brands in the future. Attention to detail really weak compared to Cadillac but Acura loyalists and there is such a group and they are material will definitely take a serious look. Honda Comeback proceeds apace but GM clearly the big winner here. Chevy Bolt is i think going to be a huge wakeup call to the entire USA automotive business as that vehicle still sets up perfectly as the World's first truly mass market EV.

An Acura or Honda based on a 2-letter corporation base is a lease-only. 2-LTR corporation has a reputation for poor long-term focus. “Support” is under contract, but improving flaws found ? Not likely unless it’s a forced recall; so no 5+ year vehicle purchase from something underpinned by them ….

Honda/Acura needs to build their own cars- any cross-brand relationships have not been up to Honda/Acura quality and reliability… think ZF 9 speed, Isuzu trooper and Rodeo…

Genesis hands down for looks inside and out. BUT and its a big BUT. Not enough Genesis dealers in the country so that limits the purchase in my mind. We live in Spokane, WA and the closest Genesis dealer is 5 hours away.. not ideal by any means.

If you didn't know your care was a GM, you will when you see at 9:24 GM Branded Glass on the pano roof. Everywhere else I seee Acura branded glass.

I'm not in the market for an EV at this time, but this Acura would be at the top of my list due to its attractive appearance, well-designed interior, and Honda's reputation for reliability.

I know HMC just gave GM a blank check on this and didnt have much say, but they should have paid morr for to get rid of the hearst design!

This is pathetic. It's when an auto brand wants an EV to sell, but does not want to invest in EV R&D. GM platform with Acura body and Honda interior, for luxury car price. I have two real Acura vehicles and love them. You know what I'd rather have, is an Acura Hybrid. Make that!

YES, the chrome down slope definitely gives hearse vibes! But hearses are not bad looking. I like the styling of the ZDX much more than the Lyric. All-in-all, I think this is a winner, minus the pricing. I just wish the future Honda/Acura EV continues the models even if their relationship with GM is souring.

I’m not in the market for an EV, but if so, I’d take this over a GV70.

I like it, but GV70 for me, the interior design and material quality are standouts in the segment; my daily commute is 60 miles at most. The 2025 GV70 interior updates with additional ambient lighting and the 27" OLED screen make it even more compelling. Also, every GM vehicle going forward is dead to me. I will not purchase a vehicle without phone projection.
