I have a 20-60x, but honestly when you watch the same terrain for days in a row you don’t even need glass most of the time. A spot will just look slightly “off” and that’s when the bear is there!

It is not for the meat. We do it for predator management, fun, and keep the hide/skull

I think it's just the challenge of hunting and pursuing something that can pursue and kill you.

Alaska has some ridiculously strict rules about taking out every scrap of edible meat. Notice I said “edible.” The state does not require a single bit of meat to be removed from a brown/griz bears.

Blissfully ignorant living in a city I assume. You have totally removed yourself from the cycle of life and it shows.

Mostly bear hunting is for fun and predator/game management. We keep the hides, skulls, and swizzle sticks.

Game management is CRUCIAL to species survival. No offense intended, for sure, but hunters have done more for actual increases in so many species, than any other group/entity. Please spend some time digging into how much hunter's millions of dollars do to provide a future for so many game animals, here, Africa, Europe, and all round the world. In this particular area, if hunter's didn't manage bear numbers, the bears would kill off food sources & starve. Thanks, hopefully, for studying & learning about the process. SO many animals have been saved from extinction just in the last 80 years.

To be honest I wanted to get the shots on cam but in the heat of the moment I was more concerned about making good shots 🤷🏼‍♂️
