Congratulations on the new bike! The new ever-e-day looks great. Amazing size and utility. I have the haul a day with a motor conversion kit. It’s has been an absolute blast. Car (cage) free for about 2 years
Totally unique bike and great to see it get some love here. I chose it because its light and I have to carry up to an old first floor flat with steep, narrow stairs (BF added a quick release stem to help with this). The bike looks classic (mine is racing green) and that it can be split in two opens all sorts of possibilities for car transport. I shipped the frame to the UK and build all else around it; hub gears, built a child carrier from an old walking aid, custom plywood footboards and stitched my own take on the Tern Stombox to keep my 7 year old daughter dry in the rain. I added a front drive kit and a 20ah battery and it’s a monster. Aside from traversing London each week, we’ve chucked it on a train to Dorset after school and did 40+ miles along the coast on it, on both road and gravel - my daughter could not have been happier on the back. We can even squeeze an extra friend on for her playdates after school. The only real problem is not having a secure place to mount the large, 20ah battery that I added, which recently allowed thieves to steal it quite easily, despite my precautions. An extra inch between the rear wheel & rear rack would have been perfect for mounting a battery discretely, but it’s too tight back there. Even without e-assist it rides beautifully and I expect I’ll have this for many years to come. Big Bike Friday fan ✊🏽
Amazing bike! I was just wishing I had a cargo bike like that for the 5 boro tour. I really wanted my 3 year old to join me on that ride, but maybe next year I’ll be able to get a bike like that and have both my sons join me! I kept hoping I’d run into you while visiting nyc for the first time. I stayed in flushing and when I arrived at the LIRR for the first time, it occurred to me that I’ve seen you ride a train in your videos. Not sure if you reside in or near flushing, but I kept hoping I’d see you guys lol.
The e-assist option makes this a serious competetor to the Tern GSD (though a bit more at $4200 with Family Pack, upgraded battery, bull bars and canary yellow paint). Even without the upgrades or e-assist it is not bad at $2700.
Love your two's videos! Bike Friday IS such a georgius series of products too! That adjustable frame is so, so logical too! E-assist too, Oh, Yeah! Future Switch Kit too. First thing I wondered over was a movable handrail and backrest for Tan Tan. So beautiful watching and learning technical details on your Family Channel. Will watch again for tech content, family fun, and scenic content!!! Thanks, to both of you! Your videos are SO valued by me. Watched Again! Great video!
Hey Bike Fam, Check out Tern's backrest for your cargo bike. They have the exact same rear/cage set up for their (folding) bikes with two different set ups,one is a (cushion) seat w/backrest and one with just the back rest.
Was on the Xtracycle page last night. I saw a back rest on one of the pages. The folk at yak chat for bike friday might know if the BF stuff works with generic after products
Good video, thanks for sharing. If you want an excellent bicycle that is also electric, as you mention in your video for greater power and speed, I suggest you get on a "Tern GSD" or "Tern HDS", both electric and with the possibility of placing a second battery, to increase to 200 km. of autonomy. And the best thing, you can carry your child, on the back, with the "Club House" accessory. Greetings and have a good weekend with your family.
