The previous model looks better, period. This one isn't "ugly" like the XM/M4/7, but it does not have the elegant proportions of the 2023 generation. The harshly raked character line across the "face" of the vehicle is NOT an improvement over the clean front appearance of the G30. The rear and sides are meh, generic 4-door, and please tell us why the steering wheel had to be shaped so stupidly? To be "different"? Finally, PLEASE integrate the screens if you're going to put them in our cars!!! I despise the "flat panel stuck on my dash" look I actually sought out a '22 330i, just to avoid it in the '23 330i.
I like the exterior because it reminds me of the E60, which, in my opinion, was the most beautiful 5 Series BMW. However, when it comes to the interior, this G60 is awful, with a poor design that doesn’t stand out at all and looks too generic like any other car. The material quality is not up to par, and those gauges are just terrible.
Calling the m4 ugly is just delusional look it up with aftermarket parts. Just needs to be lowered and have performance parts .. front lip.. yellow drls
Glad you asked. They do. They actually focus group their actual customers. As a result of this, look at their sales. The new split headlights G70 7 series for example in the first half of the year outsold the mighty S Class for the first time. So yeah.
Just thought the same! The front, cabin and rear don't fit. Its as though all three areas of the car were designed by different teams who barely spoke and only met at the very end of the project.
I have to admit that the new g60 is now my dream car. Before it was VW passat B8 since it was revealed in 2014. In 2017 I bought one. I still think that it’s one of the best looking cars. So after 9 years a new dream car appeared. One day I will buy it.
@@h4zard_ It doesn’t matter whether you have bmw or not. G60 looks much better than predecessor. I don’t need to be an owner of any bmw to understand that
The G60 is an abomination! Rear end looks like a Toyota camary and thr front is hideous. The interior looks an Audi! G30 is probably the last good car that bmw made
Nice to see it with a real Engine even tho its a 4cyl. Here in Norway were basically forced to buy electric im considering move across the pond because of it.

I saw it at the bmw dealer. I totally agree with the presenter in the video, this car could be deemed a flagship like a 7 or S class. It is larger than the older 5 series and has a big and regal presence. It’s one of the most beautiful, modern, sexy, and technologically advanced cars I’ve seen. Absolutely beautiful, especially in blue.
Nice review! I think I will stick with my M550i with no, expensive to fix, hybrid system. It looks too generic. I am sure it rides well. Just not visually appealing to my eye.
Great review; first 530i review I've seen. Unfortunately, iDrive 8 is an abomination. The 8 shortcut buttons are gone. Climate control buttons are gone. Heated seats and ventilated seats are now have to be turned on / off in software. Even the HEATED STEERING WHEEL BUTTON is gone. No one can dispute that having to navigate a software menu to do simple tasks is easier and safer than a switch you can locate and turn on, without looking, by memory. The fact the common sense has been lost around this is totally mind boggling. And what's up with all the touch capacitive, high gloss, dust-magnet, finger-print, garbage? Was the turn-style headlight switch too complicated, for BMW?
I was looking to buy a 2024 X5 xDrive40i to replace my 2011 BMW 328i xDrive 6 speed manual wagon I bought new in late 2010. The new interior design is a COMPLETE deal breaker. I’ll be buying a Porsche Cayenne or Porsche Macan instead! Never buying a new BMW ever again
@@JRB41 -- I get it. I just sold my 2016 BMW 328i xDrive. I love BMW and was hoping to buy another, but their new interiors and lack of buttons are are so disappointing.
I love my 2023 530e. It still kinda feels/Looks like a BMW. I hope that BMW has an “update” that takes it back to what we love about it. Hopefully they will give and option to split the screens.
It looks like a 3 year old designed this car with crayons and BMW actually went thru with the design. This car does not scream BMW to me. It looks like a mixture of a KIA on the front end and a Ford on the back. Very similar to the early 90s Ford Taurus in the back. No consistency with the design overall, just slapped together with a bunch of parts. Interior is nice, I'll give them that but the exterior is what I'm buying a car for initially. Everything inside is negotiable. Can't argue with the exterior, it either looks good or bad. For what they're charging there is no eh I'll get used to it. The car better match what I expect not what BMW expects me to like. Listen to the customer instead of telling them what they want. I've owned 2008 5 series for awhile now and that car is beautiful. Evolved from its previous design you can still see the BMW in it. Where is the evolution in this car. I don't see BMW when I look at this vehicle. It's a pathetic attempt to try to be different rather than consistent. If this is EV effect on the design of BMW cars then we can only expect it to get worse from here.
I think it was to offset BMW releasing the i5 M60 first. BMW is pushing the i5 which is why so many of the early reviews are focused on the EV at launch rather than the ICE models. 540i should be arriving soon
I drove the new 2024 530i the other day. I loved it! The only thing I don’t love is the back end. I love the big grills. I have a 440i m convertible and love it on that car. I am planning on ordering the 540i m sport when it’s available.
The 2024 Mercedes E-Class looks way better, but the prices of the BMW 5 series, and the E-Class are too expensive compared to the new Lexus ES that coming.
Design language both internally and externally doesn't speak to me at all... with everything else mentioned already, one cannot notice how intrusive that self-reflection occurs on the display in a sunny weather - almost asking for trouble and potential risk 😵 Back seat looks nice though, but then rims.... oh my how opposite of elegant they seem to look... i bet they are heavy too and impractical to clean and inconvenient to transport given their suspected weight. If it were free, it would be just "MEH", but given it's premium price point and God forbid maintenance costs and potentially yet undisclosed certain subscription costs for novelty features, then all you got to think is "what the family" in your head - this smells such a miss 😧
The idrive 8 screens are not reflective at all. This one still has the plastic screen protector. That being said the rest of this car looks horrid. Inside and out
BMW literally killed their entire brand. They killed everything that was iconically BMW and replaced it with this Chinese shit. One of the biggest falls from grace of any brand.
yes, they went too far - the car is too big for european standards for daily family use. i own current g31, and g61 which is 10cm longer (!!) and 3cm wider makes it much more difficult to use in the town, shopping centers, etc. So, if the next G81(...) does not go back to just below 5m, this is my last 5-series... which is a pity, i love the car, but the new one became just too big...
This is easily the worst looking bmw right now. At least the XM, M2, and M3/4 looks cool and aggressive and look better as you keeping looking at.. This just looks extremely awkwardly proportioned and looks nothing like a bmw.
Exterior is something that i could live with, but interior...my god,its so disturbingly ugly. Two spoke steering wheel and tablet style dash is just...ugly.
The 2010 E60 LCI M-sport is so much more beautiful. It has much nicer and unique tail lights. This car looks like hideous and bloated wannabe in comparison.
It is so unattractive. Additionally the interior is not conducive to intuitive safe driving. It needs to work and feel analog. Plus the real elephant in the room is that BMW excels with chassis, suspension and drivetrain. What it sucks at is technology, electronics and anything plastics. Everyone knows modern BMW vehicles are junk as you have to deal with the electronics and plastics. So what does BMW do? Yup, flee from the drivetrain and go far more dependent on their weak areas of technology, general electronics and cheap plastics. You don't think the consumer is paying attention?
G60 is the generation. For instance, many BMW enthusiasts love the 5 Series from 1997-2003 but instead of referencing the model years we refer to it as the E39.
