Add the M Sport front seats and laser headlight package, towbar and sunroof and this car passes £80k really quickly. I’ve had mine for 9 months (I also drive an X6) and the M50 is a fantastic package. Never used public charging as home charging is good enough. DCFC charge rates only apply for a short period with a very low battery SOC, so are almost irrelevant. In 9 months, having an M50 has saved me more than £2,500 in fuel costs alone. That’s significant. It also looks like a proper car rather than an iPad in wheels.
I've driven a model that was optioned up to about £86k - it is terrifying how fast the costs stack up! Great savings available on running costs by only using home charging, which is absolutely the best way to run an EV 😄
While I love my i4 EV, I miss the feel and sound coming from the engine of my X6. It was hard enough going from a manual transmission to an automatic over the years. Taking away the sounds of an ICE and the transmission shifts well, it's a different experience, not a bad one, just different. Love the new styling! Nice video.
I have Ir M50 gran coupe...in green and cognac interior. No complaints so far...in wintere it gives about 200 miles with 80 percent charge in 45-50 degree F .
That's good range for chilly weather. When we filmed this it was similar temperatures and we had a full charge of around 280 miles - though we did use sport mode quite a bit for the review!
I actually love and prefer the BMW Series 4 front grille. Not sure why there is so much hate and dislike on the design. That was the whole reason why I purchased an i4 eDrive40 model. It’s a gorgeous design.
It might well be very fast, capable, etc, but it’s as ugly as sin, like most current BMWs, and there’s no way I’d part with that much money for such a mundane looking car.
Lmao, there is NO WAY you get 310 miles in winter.. The absolute best someone got out of this in summer, during hypermiling (90kmh behind a truck) was 300 miles.
@@BuckleUpShow RSymons RSEV did a real world cold weather test and the I4 M50 did 198 miles at 2.5 miles per kWh. That's a real world test. Not your BMW marketing bullshit.

To be fair there aren't many EVs out there that compare to this in terms of how EVs go. I'm a JDM lover myself. Had GTRs, RX7s and even an 4g63t powered widebody RX8. But this is my car in the video too. It's far more capable than the previously mentioned vehicles I've had (when they were in factory form). All I can say is you really need to experience the M50 to believe it. It doesn't look as cool as those JDM cars, it doesn't have the wow factor and street cred. But it doubles up as a family car. For me as a father of two changes to my car choice had to be made. Covering 30,000 miles a year in a JDM car getting 20mpg Vs £600 total charging costs in an EV is a no brainer. Whilst at the same time I didn't have to give up performance.
