Test rode the 1600B twice here just the other day at Bike Week. Came away immensely impressed. Unbelievable power... this'd smoke any H-D bagger. And I have a '19 Limited with a Stage III 117 kit on the motor. I love it but this bike's performance is next level - and at a price very competitive with Harley. I have to chuckle at the "not a chance" comments. You could spend more than twice what this bike costs on an accessorized CVO and not come close to its capabilities.
In 2019 I traded my 2013 K1600 GTL with 53K on it for a 2019 Gold Wing DCT. I really like the Wing and the DCT and I do not have any negative to say about it. Although it is not, the K1600 felt much heavier then the Wing. After put 19K on the Wing, I traded back to another K1600 in the summer of 2020. The power, the sound, and the sporty feel of the BMW is a huge rush!
The K bike has lots more power than the wing, and more nifty in the corner, but I found it more top heavy. The wing is such a great ride and the low center of gravity makes it hard to beat. Both are great bikes,! The BMW dealer near me SUCKS so that doesn't help them lol
The foot pegs are awesome on long rides. I came from a Yamaha FJR1300 in which, after a 2 hour ride my legs would be complaining. With the K1600B all I have to say is... 😀
I had a K 1600 B and now a 2022 Road Glide Special. Completely 2 different bikes. Ive been on long distance trips on both and loved them equally. I wanted the feel of the Harley after owning mine B for 4 years. If they ever come up with something different than the hideous R 18 series, I would look at them again.
@@russellnewcomb8542Some Dealers are doing flashes. Just for a map, it's about $200. You can send in your ECU and have it flashed. You can buy a handheld for about $500'700 and flash it at home.
I sold my 18 Street Glide and picked up one of these. I also test road a new Goldwing. Im still getting used to this but I really like it so far. Kind of like a really big sport bike that is comfortable. It has a few small things I dont like but over all its a great bike. Did I mention its way faster than my stage 3 Harley...lol
The K1600B is next level touring. I love mine. I have a 2022 Harley Streetglide ST. I do not compare them. It would be like comparing a BMW Alpina B5 GT to a Mustang Super Cobra.
I can't say I'd want to own a K1600, but I do own a gen6 Goldwing Tour(so that answers that question). The Wing is just a good riding bike that's super comfortable, especially for my wife when she's aboard. I'm sure the K1600 would walk all over the Wing performance wise, but on the road, in the reality of riding the Wing has plenty good power and handling. After 10 years on a Victory XC, I finally got used to having my feet under me on the Honda, now my feet spend most of the time there and I hardly ever use the "highway pegs" I put on for a feet forward position.
I’ve been riding Harleys for 35 years. I currently ride a 2012 FLHTK Stage II. If I was to buy another new bike to replace my Harley, it would be the GW DCT. I love the 7 Speed Dual Clutch Transmission. Besides, I want something different, and a new Harley, isn’t much different than mine albeit the radio and motor.
Fellow Riders, I have two Harleys presently. I'm thinking of trading the 2018 CVO Limited. The new CVOs, ST, doesn't impress me. Looking at Indians and BMWs. The Indian Roadmaster is quite nimble. Its powerband seems to pull strong. Want to roadtest the BMW 1600B. There is nothing like the smoothness from a four or six cylinder. Thanks for the review!
FLYANDRIDE15, I'm curious to hear your thoughts compared to your CVO. I'm considering the K1600b this spring and all my friends ride HD. I love the comradery of the HD, but bang for buck the K1600 seems like a no brainer. The current CVO is almost twice the starting price...
Thanks for watching and commenting. Man, that’s a tough choice. Here’s what I will say, they are two completely different machines and I would argue can’t even be compared on the same class(despite they are both “baggers”). I think the CVO is the ultimate cruising and all around best baggers out there and if I were buying for first time, I would go with CVO. That said, if you want value for money, super fast, highly capable sport touring rocket that happens to have bags, go with k1600. That help? 😆
@@FLYANDRIDE15Thanks for the reply and feedback! I'm currently riding a 2022 Ducati Diavel 1260s, so transitioning to a bagger from that, the logical choice seems to be the K1600. A new CVO is also more than I'd be willing to spend, but the '24 Street Glide is only a few grand more before I start adding on options. Maybe I'll demo both and go from there. Thanks again! :)
@@FLYANDRIDE15The 2024's have the V4 now, so a different animal than my 2022 with a V2. I'll have to keep an eye out for your review on that. I had considering upgrading in 2023, but I have the "Black and Steel" color scheme and unfortunately they didn't offer it on the 2023 or 2024 models. I also put on the Termignoni full race exhaust and up-tune and didn't want to have to buy that all over again at $3k+ ;)
Driven the 2024 K1600 Bagger today. Conclusion. BMW loves America. The driving experience is closer to an extremely heavy tailfin Cadillac with a creamy multi-cylinder engine and impressive road holding. The RT is the better motorcycle for motorcyclists in Europe. The Bagger is the better modern car. The cockpit tablet with its calculator design fits in very well.
These handlebars are weird😂 A set of Remus exhausts and it’s golden. Personally I think it’s a good bike overall for Europe not the US cause distances are way smaller than we got here. Nice video brother ride safe
I disagree you could ride these cross country with no trouble whatsoever motors are super smooth I own both Harley Davidson and the case 1600 they both have their purpose but the case 1600 is leaps and bounds ahead of Harley Davidson ride, power, handling and breaking! and it’s less cubic inch than a Harley. It’s 100.3 in.³ and shaft single sided so it’s easy to remove your rear wheel. It’s an amazing motorcycle but it doesn’t make me want to sell my Harley. It’s a bike that you add.
@@glencross4461 I love my 23 GSA Trophy and my 20 Road King Special. That BMW bagger is simply not my cup of tea… I prefer easier bikes to ride is all😂
Unfortunately BMW will never been considered a "King of Baggers". Harley / Indian will continue to hold those spots due to being true baggers. BMW is just a sport tourer with bags like the goldwings. The K1600 is a great bike don't get me wrong but people buying "Baggers" don't look to bmw or even honda for them.
Out of the showroom stock it’s leaps and bounds ahead of Harley Davidson even the brand new 2024. The suspension is amazing. The handling is far superior the breaking is way better and the power you can’t even compare it to a Harley.
@@glencross4461 I totally get it yeah, but it's not comparable. it's not a cruiser it's a sport tourer with bags. The only 2 bagger brands are hd and indian at the moment unless you go metric for a kawasaki bagger. Not saying "specs" are not better, they are if you are comparing non baggers with baggers.
@@FLYANDRIDE15interesting, I thought most Harley’s capped out at like 123 torque on the CVO models and maybe 120 HP. The bike you are riding in the video has 130 torque and 160 HP stock
@@kugangles9860 I just absolutely love my Harley it’s the first brand I’ve bought and I’m very happy with it I don’t have a reason to buy anything else I don’t bash people for what they ride I’m just glad to see people out there riding.
You don’t have to sell your Harley, but at least try other motorcycles before you leave this earth. You should try as many motorcycles as you can, especially since you like to be in the wind.!!! you might change your mind and put another bike in your garage next to your Harley!👍🇺🇸😎
@@kugangles9860 I agree. Ive owned 7 HDs 3BMWs 3 Victories and a Goldwing. I have also had several sport bikes and all have good and bad things about them. Harley fan boys make me laugh, they act like HD is the only bike on the road. Very shallow way to think.
