My first BMW was an R100 CS My 2nd BMW was an R1100 R My 3rd BMW was R 1150 GS My 4th BMW was an R 1200 GS My 5th BMW is a K1600 B.... I've had many other bikes as well but the K1600 B will be hard to follow....It potters around no problem and when you want to scare yourself it pulls like a train and is so smooth....

I switched from a GS to my B 3 years ago, zero regrets. Done amazing trips in the Alps and Dolomites with her, as well as winterdriving in the “always raining” Netherlands. It’s an amazing and diverse machine. Sounds like you might converted as well, are you..?

Hi I very much enjoyed it but bikes (along with everything) are now so expensive compared to a few years ago I am sticking with my GS for now. The K1600 has an amazing character that the GS does not.

I have the midnight addition which I bought new in 2022, before that I had a 2020 model which was an ex bmw staff bike. I have always had Harleys before but moved to BMW after the issues with the M8 transmission. I’d previously bought a new street glide in 2017 but had nothing but problems. Harley even replaced the bike like for like but I still had the same problems. I bought a new R1200Rt, just before the 1250’s came out and neither myself nor my wife who is usually on the back felt comfortable on it. Long trips were a no no. However on trying the K1600 everything changed. The bike is so comfortable and handles well. I toured the highlands of Scotland over summer with my wife and all the luggage for 12 days. I never had any issues and I’m only 5’8. I think the bike can appear intimidating when you first look at it and see all the stats, but if you ride with confidence the bike very quickly becomes your friend. Yes they are expensive but if you haggle with the dealer you can usually get a good deal and as the saying goes you get what you pay for. All the best. Loved the vid and the fact you had the balls to change how you felt about the bike as you went on. Surprisingly there are a lot of vloggers out there that won’t do that so a big thumbs up

I owned one and loved it in the beginning. Once she hit 12K, all the crap started to come up. Every few weeks, something else. No, I didn't have a Lemon bike. The dealer told me, it can be tricky, at times owning a K. I came to the point that I was worried riding anywhere. On top of that, the Grand America had issues with air blasts next to/behind large trucks. Also, steering was pushing slightly to the left. Now, I own a new Goldwing DCT Tour. Unbelievable machine. if you take 100 Goldwing and 100 K's, how many GW you will have in the shop in the bike's life time compare to the K? Statistics don't lie. Enjoy the bike. I will never touch a K again. Forget it.

I'm genuinely asking what issues started to surface around 12000 miles.

@@thollingsworth4910 Engine lights coming on like Christmas tree. You just don't know if the next day or week, it will be on. Only way to reset it, owning the code reset tool. Back then it was 800.00, or run to the dealer and you must make an appointment. Second, the bike shutdown on me twice out of nowhere. Once, doing 70 mph and once getting off an exit. Towing here we come. That was scary enough to sell it. It never happened to me on any bike in 30 years of riding. Third, the reverse clutch was horrible. If you shut the bike in reverse, strong chance it will not disengaged. Forth, the stupid major recall for the reverse clutch and 6th gear replacement which took my bike away for 2 weeks, no loaners available. Boy, if all of this is not enough saying enough, I don't know what else to say. Thank God I sold it and did pretty good on the sale. Took that money and got my new GW DCT Tour. Such a different of pleasure. Can't say enough.

@alp3781 I can't blame you for selling it. I own a 21 K1600B. Mine only has about 3000 miles on it and it's been great so far. I plan on trading it next year for an Indian Challenger.

@@thollingsworth4910 Good choice. The Indian C is a great bike. You can't go wrong. A co worker has one and zero issues. The only reason I didn't go for one, no center stand and no reverse assist.

nice vid. I have the full fat version a 2023 GT SE. After years of big harley tourers, hayabusa’s, (amongst other large MC’s ) the beemer is like a hybrid of those two…..brilliant machine👍🏻

Nice bike. I have the k1600 gtse 2015, would have loved reversing mode, can easily loose your license on it. Great fun in the twistis 😂

Alas - no CarPlay compatibility? Would love for BMW to make their electronics more open source friendly. Would complete this great bike, IMHO.

Great Vid… I love my 17 plate bagger, but can’t believe you are saying how smooth the box is etc, I find them clunky … only time it isn’t Is when i give it beans through the quick shifter. Think I need to ride a new one to see if mine is excessively noisy and loose.

My first BMW was a 2008 K1200S...awesome bike!! Second is my R1200RT which I will either sell outright or trade in on the new K1600B and I'll sell my 2017 Harley Ultra limited as well so I'll have lots of $$ to uise for a downnpayment! I already know I will enjoy the K1600 B immensely cuz it will be my second time owning a K series bike!! Great video brother!!

The costs are a concern. I worry how much those 6 cylinders would take to maintain long term. If money was no object then possibly yes!
