As an oldie i can't afford a BMW and even if i could 25 grand is ridiculous. So i took a Honda NC750X DCT out for a demo last week. Very apprehensive at first but i took to it like a duck to water and was blown away with its ability. Lovely low down and midrange power, fast enough for me and at 9 grand affordable. Next spring I'll be getting one.

@@ianhalliwell8604 I have an NC but it’s just a shame Honda don’t make a Pro version with upgraded components as used on X-ADV and the Forza 750s, instead they just let it languish at commuter level.

Enjoyed your review of the ASA system, I'm with you, just ordered a new GSA with it, think it will appeal more to the older rider. For me it's the way to go, anything that makes life easier for me, and maybe safer I'm for. Thank you.

My 1300GS Adaptive Ride Height failed after 20 or so weeks and 1200 miles. Much back and forth with Germany for a solution, their latest is to replace both front and rear suspension plus hydraulic pump , parts cost £4500! Glasgow Motorrad been excellent, but a suspension failure could result in catastrophe. No confidence in bike now. So, Cherrio 1300GS and hello to 1250 RT TE. Which I have previously owned and enjoyed.

I bought 1 of the first honda NC750X DCT models back in 2015 and at the time what a bike, it's amazing just how quick you get used to the automatic, tons of my friends all screwed their faces when i told them and most came back with a smile on their face after having a shot of it, Just bought a R1250 GSA, but the new ASA will definitely be on my target list for the future

I still enjoy to work manually with the gearbox and the regular clutch system, but when I ride an full automatic bike, I enjoy it too and when adding the pillion presence in the bike the automatism makes a lot of sense then. It turns the pilot’s job much easier and that a peremptory fact to me. Mostly every enhancement that machine industry develops ten out of ten are assets to better our relation and use of machinery. If I can benefit from it, why not? Excellent analysis of the novelty made to the 1300 GS, this video puts it very clearly! Thanks ! 👍🏻👍🏻

I'm 66 and have ridden motorcycles since 1978. The R1300GS ASA and the Honda NC750X DCT are too heavy for my liking. In May I got myself a SV650. After 8000 km with day trips and a two week camping trip using minor roads I'm quite happy with it. 29 km/l is not bad.

The gear change alters depending on riding mode as well. In manual mode if you try and come to a stop in a high gear it will change down the box to first as you come to a stop, no stalling!

@@theloftybiker3090I was assured that it does, but it linked to speed , angle etc as well as the engine mode. I doubt that you were in a position to really open it up on Cornish roads. With the engine CC and amount of Boxer torque I don't think it needs kick down and if the rider feels that it needs more get up and go they just tap down on the gear shift in auto mode😁

@@theloftybiker3090 Pretty sure you couldn't ride a moto GP bike any more than you could drive an F1 car and would take you months/years to master either. This technology IS coming to most/all bikes. I might end up with automation myself, but there is still some fun to be had with pulling a lever and operating a gear lever to be had. A PCP plan for this bike, along with the service plan for the warranty for 3/4 years puts it out of reach for many. Like a Range Rover it has become more of a "Flash my cash" bike that for most, even with this automation will not be used "off road".

Never touch a job 1 new automotive industry product. Even the people who design and manufacture this stuff will privately tell you to avoid the risk. There will be recall and dealer updates . Just lthink how long the Honda DCT has been evolving and updated. Let the naive early adopters take the pain of the undocumented features . I had 3 different model GS’s until a few months ago but got rid of them all and replaced them with an RT that I love to ride, sure they’ll be bringing a 1300 ASA to the market soon. On the subject of automatic it’s different to this but after 40+ years biking a couple of years ago I got a BMW scooter. I know it’s not the same but I love this as well with the auto CVT is just so easy to ride. Use it all the time got rid of a car when I retired so shops local trips two up, it tops out at around 95mph so motorways or any faster roads are fine. Point is I love being on any two wheels and auto transmission I think makes riding easier especially in traffic and I don’t think it takes anything really from the experience

Given the failures the 1300gs has already suffered I would be Very Dubious about rushing in to buy an asa bike until its been proved reliable. The bikes are too ugly for me anyway and the ergonomics are a backward step in order to make it "sporty".
