Indeed. It got an illness in the car industry.... Take a look at Lexus. Still perfect. I own an F15 M50d and there you still have the probably easiest to use info- and entertainment system available. Also, you get fined for touching on your smartphone in a solid smartphone holder, but not when touching the touchscreen of a car? Where exactly is the difference? Don't get me wrong, I never use the phone while driving and hate people doing that as they literally endanger everybody else. But it was SO easy with buttons - you knew where they were and touched them. That's it.
I was fortunate enough to have the all gas version of this (40e 2024) for a few days from BMW in Canada. I've driven a lot of high end cars in my life and this was one really impressed me. The ride, comfort, cabin space, power and overall driving experience was exceptional. It also got crazy fuel mileage. Drove it for 3 days straight all over the place and returned it with a 1/4 tank. Bravo BMW and nice review max.
Touch screens do not belong in cars, especially for changing the AC. How did anyone think moving something from 1 button press to 5 would be more efficient? Thankfully the performance is great, love the X5 but the no buttons is a big turn off.
Hi. You ve complained of suspension bouncing with the 45e. Is this still an issue with the facelift? How bad is the "comfort" setting in these new bmw s with airsuspension, compaired with spring suspension? Thanks!
Having the 530e myself with stage 1 and pushing just under 400 bhp with 660nm. I’m hesitating upgrading to this one due to the lack of boot space in 5 series. These would push easily to 600bhp on stage 1.
@@Tilata I have a german import B48. Its tuned by BR performance in Belgium. I have the onboard power reader and the rolling graph. They are two versions of them where one makes less power and the other makes more which is mine. I checked the vin number before I even bought it from the bmw dealer.
Very nice exterior, but the cockpit with the slapped-on super wide screen on stands plus the lack of physical buttons you can press without looking is just hideous. This is not technological evolution in a positive way. BMW should recess the displays so it doesn’t look like an eBay aftermarket gimmick you bought for 10 Euro just to lower your standards to make your friends who bought a Tesla Model 3 look good.
probaly not i depends more where you driving, if you drive long ways on autobahns buy a diesel, if you drive mostly through city then a hybrid might be a better option
Toyota builds poor man hybrid with zero driving pleasure. BMW takes it to the next level, with Stage 1, you can easily keep up with other high power cars. And if you can charge at home or work, you will get a great mixed fuel consumption under 5l per 100km.
Best looking SUV out there, beastly looking hybrid, it looks like 490hp. Not a fan of the flat screen tv style dash, it should be integrated, cleaner look. The exhaust sounds great. Not an eco sounding vehicle. Lol!!
Just ordered one to Hungary, fully loaded except the bowers and wilkins sound system( super happy with harman kardon...) in grey and 22 black rims. Replacing a 2018 bmw x3 m40i, this is gonna be my first hybrid. One question: the 490 hp is combined power, but I'm wondering what happens when the battery gets low? does it affect performance or do they tweak the electric motor in a way that it always adds to the quoted performance figures to the normal engine power?
I am considering this car w/out the M sport package (yes the 22 inch wheels) as the engine is exactly the same plus in other colors (other than black) the grill is plated so M line do not add much to the looks, do you have any opinion/ advise on the driving side of things?
@@ryanmurphy2485you also cannot get the full merino leather that covers all the surfaces. The X5 in Europe gets more X7 treatment than in the US. Such a shame.
great vid - but after having a '23 50e for weekend I'm going to stick with my '21 45e for multiple reasons - the removal of all the physical buttons (after 1000 miles it was a deal breaker) , the removal of the manual battery recharge and hold functions (this is a heavily used feature) along with the removal of the rear seat fold function in boot etc etc... so many bad tactile decisions by BMW (mostly based on cost saving) all while putting up price! So I just had a EU stage 1 remap and now the X5 45e is 500bhp 800Nm
@@benboelens4812 I meant AlixLondon's car ? Like maybe where he lives there are specific rules and tax incentives etc ? Like if the seats don't fold they can save a couple thousand in tax.
The triangle thing doesn't make you comfortable heeii😅😅 I "think" matt Watson from car wow mentioned it as well and he's not comfortable with it too😂😂😂
they made big garbage inside with this joined tablets instead normal cockpit as it was before ,now it looks like something cheap electric chinese ,they love to swing tablet here and there and Tesla have that shit too and looks so garbage cheapy
You missed the biggest upgrade that came with the B58TU2, port injection has been added to supplement that direct injection. Currently with a JB4 Burger tuned a 7 series to 500hp at the wheels with no mods. Bone stock, just a piggyback tune. Pair that with the 200ho from the electric motor and you have more power than the XM lmao
@6:47 what kind of horrible door closing noise is that "claaaaack" seems like falling apart?? Lol c'mon give than "THUMMMMP" solid satisfying and deep noise of german door closing man....
Awful headlights. Give us the angel eyes back. The rear is ok except for the fake exhausts, as always. The interior is definitely an improvement, but thats what you expect from a new generation.
Perfect car, except the UI. The goofy joint dual screen looks much worse than previous separate screens IMO, and the lack of buttons is a very annoying cost cutting sacrifice that shouldn't be in a 100k car.
This car still has 313 ICE hp and 197 e-hp. That is a combined usable hp of 490. I don't know where you got 380 ice hp from as BMW doesn't built any ICE engines with that amount of hp. EDIT: But I totally agree to the missing button situation. I have the F15 M50d and love it. Literally easiest climate and system control ever.
@@benjaminhaagen2267 I know. I have an F15 M50d - a 6 cylinder, tri-turbocharged Diesel(!) engine with 381 hp. But Max was pretty certain to say 380 hp. And no document I was looking at whatsoever said this particular car has 380 ICE horsies. It is still the pretty good 313 hp version of the inline six.
@@M3dicayne The B58 G05 X5 in 40i and 50e states 381hp from petrol engine when configuring car... you're thinking of N55 from waaay back of late E70/F15 generations
@@M3dicayne Okay upon digging more we're both wrong and right at some stuff. B58 in X5 40i does put out 280kW/381hp that's straight from dealers technical data sheet as I am writing this. However B58 in 50e is made to output 313hp from ICE and 197hp from electric motor. So you're right that it does put 313 from ICE in 50e but the 381hp confusion must've come from standard X5 40i
I have the 2021 X5 45e and would definitely not trade it for this. The switch BMW made to the non-laser headlights and the teeny tiny gear shifter toggle switch are deal breakers, sorry just MHO. Glad I got mine before they changed it.
I wouldn't say it's necessarily "slower", the difference is by 1.5 seconds on 100-200, but this does have the advantage on the jump from the electric power, so while dry numbers may be better in the M50i, the actual roll race may come out even due to the better jump on the 50e, whereas the M50i will just be playing catch up.
Great video as usual!! Question: I have the same car but I cannot activate / find the mode to have on the second screen the lights turning yellow and then red when reaching the limiter. Do you know how I can find it? Is it a country specific feature? (14:42 in the video). Thank you!
