How do you fit on streets? I was forced to slow down to a stop to make room for some X5 owners to pass. What do you, X5 owners, do when you find yourselves face to face? Reverse to the end of the street? I could never understand a 2m wide car...it has no purpose
Great Autogefeuhl show and tell walk through the new features plus handling and practical tips. I have a 2021 X5 and it’s excellent. BMW is best value for the price and their reliability now since about 2009 to present is off the charts good, number 3 behind Toyota and Lexus which means these BMWs will live “forever” if maintained properly. Their styling is timeless for all models.
BMWs are nice but to call them great value is just wrong. For example a Skoda Kodiaq would be great value for money. Also BMW reliability is not top tier.

BMW's style, one curved display fits for all is a huge step backwards. I remember cockpits e.g. from E30, E34 and E39, those were really tempting, good looking, driver focused and easy to use.
We have the current (now old) X5 45e and think it’s a fine car. The only issues I have with it is the limited leg room in the back seat and the overly firm central rear seat - the kids hate sitting in the middle on a long journey as it’s just too uncomfortable. Although the actual car is big on the outside it’s surprisingly cramped on the inside. It’s been to the south of France many times now (just coming up three years old in Jan ‘24) and on the long drives down there it averages around 31mpg. Not too bad for a 2.5t car with 5 people on board and a full boot. I’m not a massive fan of the new BMW dash and the car as a whole just isn’t different enough from the car we have to consider replacing it with this new model. We’ll probably change brand this time around but might consider the X5 again when the full model replacement comes out in a few years time.

Wtf is this shit with moving ALL buttons to the touch screen? I thought it was just a fad when it was something new, absolutely everyone agrees that they want buttons for this
In terms of quality going from Mercedes to BMW was for me like night and day...overall quality in BMW is top notch, what you would expect from that price range, I was really disappointed with Mercedes quality, not sure what they are thinking in Mercedes lately, but I guess appearance over quality seems a winning strategy for Mercedes anyway, since most of the people don't care too much about quality anymore...but I'm definitely happy with X5 so far (2018 model, close to 140k km, no issues)
I have to agree, Mercedes has gone down quality wise (look and feel both and reliability) whereas BMW went up in both aspects. It seems to be something like an engineering wave throughout the decades, going up and down
@@autogefuehlbmws, the fairly new ones are unreliable post warranty. I have a friend who owns popular workshop in my country and there are plenty of fairly new bmws who come there as he described “with rather serious mechanical issues”. This cured me out from buying a used bmw.

I think if comfort and luxury is a focus, the GLE wins this generation. It is more expensive but interior looks so much better on the GLE! Lack of physical buttons on the X5 just makes it seem bland.
It's very odd this 50e has real wheel steering because you couldn't and still can't order it for the 50e and no one knows when or if it will ever be available again. Really surprised this 50e has it since the only model it comes with is the M60i, where it is standard.
I actually don't mind the exterior redesign and new interior tech features, it's still very standard BMW without the Beaver Tooth grill, but those new turn signals are absolutely not it with the pulsing. It's like they want to be Audi, but it looks so much worse. I also don't like that they removed so many buttons and moved everything into the touchscreen/combo driver information screen, which I also don't care for. It looks like someone took an ultrawide monitor from 2017 and glued it to the dashboard. Every manufacturer seems to be going that way, and it's never going to look good or last nearly as long as buttons. Excellent and thorough review as I've come to expect from this channel.
Oh that was an answer to someone asking for Lea. Consumption of this one here I talked about in the video. If you dont recharge, these PHEVs wont save you much fuel on hybrid use m8.

Some will claim, quality of one factory build location above the other. Truth is no-one knows (Unless you are BMW management and can get hold of vehicle numbers they scrap straight from production due to quality issues, which may then likely give an indication of one factory quality over another). X5 is still made in N America (X3 Range is made in S Africa), though a few assembly operations do take place in India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand (Also use to be similar in Russia) for the X5. As to do with pricing, lighting package, software or something else, is zero difference. The difference is not where it is made, but the Country you live-in, as BMW are selective depending on Country and Region YOU LIVE, if certain add-ons/packages are available or not to YOU/customers in any given country. Industry claim it is due to different laws in different countries, though quite often, it is hard to find evidence to support this assertion and likely to do with previous data collection, that this product is not worth adding for customers in this country or region, as not many are purchased and like all industry, they don't care about customers and customer choice, they only care about the money they can make out of each customer. So watch-out for paying annual subscription fees for services and connectivity on most new cars (hidden cost) and watch our for wheel size from new, as certain wheel sizes, will mean you can't then change from summer tyres, to All Season or winter, without buying a complete new set of 4 wheels. South Africa is _also_ building X3, X3 is also manufactured in Spartanburg US, it depends on the engine you pick actually. Yeah the market packaging is sometimes ridiculous, especially for the UK market !

Still don’t understand the logic behind the blacked out grille option. If the designers realize the signature front design element is so visually loud that it should be offered in a blackout option, maybe they should consider revising it smaller?

@@autogefuehl I think its a prototype as I've never seen it or even heard of any other G05 LCI besides the M60i who had it. I had to order mine without it and tons if people had to as well. Theres a few who insist and had their orders pushed back to at least Q4 2023 but no one knows when or if it will ever be available again. Some dealers suspect it will be cancelled completely for the 50e.
I Checked on the canadian configurator and it is available... this is the place where they need the less this option... and in Europe we can't have it. Very smart
Really wish BMW would offer a 35-30-35 split with the middle row, instead of always having a pointless 20 in the middle, they are not a 7 seater until that's changed
It's tremendously terrible to change ventilation routes through the display. I have no idea how they are still doing it, it's totally uncomfortable while driving...
These new headlights with the signature are just a reminiscence of how awesome the halo lights were before. They look like the custom headlights we had in 2005 in the „tuning“ scene, with blocky leds. Just bad. Backlights are awesome though
I use voice commands pretty much for everything, especially for climate control and don't have to touch anything in screen. physical buttons would have been great addition though but not a deal breaker. I love the fact that all the buttons on steering wheel are real.
Excellent review, can´t wait to take delivery on my X5 50e, it should come in a couple of weeks. I was choosing between the Cayenne and the BMW but the Porsche was way too expensive.
I always find your reviews the best on the net, thank you for that… I picked up a new 50e at the end of April and coming from a 2017 Jeep GC Summit it is like night and day! One thing I see you didn’t cover is the different driving packages, which at 150 MPH on the Autobahn probably wouldn’t matter that much. But the ability of this wonderful vehicle using cameras, radar and other different sensers is simply amazing!!! Again, thanks for the review… BTW, next time I’d like to see the passenger. Your girlfriend?

At 2:32 , I have the pre face lift and the rear wheels doesn’t steer when stand still, only when moving. It’s not new in the LCI model. It’s very smart from BMW, as this car is heavy, 2.4tonnes plus.

If I m paying this kind of money on a car I require maximum space and comfort for my kids in the back or passengers. I don’t accept “enough leg room”. A Tiguan has way more leg room that X5. Absurd.
I hate when these guys jump in the back seats of these big ole SUV’s. And you can see they are cramped as a small car or even more cramped and try to say it is adequate spacing .!🙄. In that damn backseats on a 4 hour drive it feels like a damn death trap . And granted it’s not short people driving. U all feel like tuna in a can. Inside of this big ole damn vehicle. Nissan and Hyundai midsize suvs have more rear seat room. They allow the rear seats to recline to a extreme degree
Not fan of that progressive blinker at all. And that knob shifter. Big no no and doesn’t match to what people will be thinking about BMW. Nothing bold about these two things rather very boring

This is the way a bmw should look. Good job BMW. So glad Thea skipped the horrible looking bugs bunny teeth grille and split headlights on this. About the interior. I wish they have som physical knobs to the climate control.
I'm driving a 2024 X5 xDrive40i for the last 10 days .. To me - Pros: Instant power at your disposal, very good gas mileage Cons: A bit overwhelming tech, buggy Wireless Apple Carplay - had too many issues with the connection Too many moving parts and I'm not sure how the maintenance will be for all these tech. What are the thoughts from the @autogefuel and the viewers on reliability and maintenance costs atleast from a 2023 model perspective?
