People want their cake and eat it too…they want Porsche quality but pay Chevy prices. If Chevy charged an extra $10k and fixed all the issues, ppl would still complain and want more.
Actually GM did charge the extra amount to provide some of these features with their 2LT trim. But with Porsche you pay for the name more than the feature With Chevy you should be paying more for the feature than the name
I’ve had 2 911s and now I have a C8 HTC. I have put on 26000km with zero issues, none. My Porsches were never this perfect. I will buy a 992 soon, but I will keep this amazing C8
“You’re buying a Chevy” is just a crutch that GM uses to produce substandard cars and resting on your laurels. Then you get to go to the dealership they’re charging you $25,000 more. They like to call it an adjusted market value when does the rip offs end oh that’s right it would be too hard for GM to take care of any of those problems as long as the monies rolling in. The owners get to put up with the fights in the in the service bays and the things GM won’t cover under warranty for whatever reason they come up with. And then wait five or six or 10 months for a part to come in because they’re all being used to assemble these absolutely best as we can do Automobile products. Yes I have a 2024 fully loaded C8 but the more I read and the more I hear I wish I wouldn’t have bought it,,,,,,,,,there I said it. Don’t even get me started on incompetent dealerships.
@@itowmyhome797 you had any issues with your C8? So far mine has been bulletproof. I bought the extended warranty. Also, most dealers were charging markups due to COVID…Porsche market adjustments were ridiculous. Even Honda were charging $10k over MSRP. It not just Chevy
That's awesome, Glad the video helped. Congrats on your upcoming new vehicle and I hope you enjoy it and love it just as much as I do. Even though the video may sound like I do not like it but in reality I would buy this car even if given an option again.
Congratulations on the Z06, I do like the Z06 Wheels offerings though. and they made it 20" and 21" which look great even on the Stingray. Nevertheless, be safe and make some noise with that wonderful sounding beast.
The "no touch" trunk closure only works for the coupe due to the deck lid being larger and heavier. It does not; however, work every time, you have to give it a bit of a shove. For the HTC, you still have to give the deck lid the extra push. Also, the HTC deck lid does not have an inside pull. On the other hand, they are just cars. I can handle some finger prints, I also keep a microfiber towel behind the seat.
That makes sense but aren’t the rear hood struts also heavier to counter the weight effect? Also I use my knuckles to close the frunk haha you may have noticed in the video too…. Just to mitigate finger prints lol
The front trunk "auto" closing feature works differently from the rear trunk "auto" feature. The reason is most owners that buy the optional battery maintainer (from CTEK). leave the maintainer in the bottom of the front trunk, these people (me) want the front trunk lid to stay cracked open for about an inch so the AC power cord can exit the front trunk to be connected to 110 VAC external power.
Yes, a lot of people pointed that out and I agree with the reasoning. Could there have been a way around it? Yes, like most modern cars have auto trunk close and when they feel resistance they back out. But that might have been asking too much from a performance car & GM lol. Nevertheless I learned the reasoning after posting this video and reading the comments
My battery tender on my c8 is routed out by the a pillar on the passenger side..there is a perfect opening to run the wires and close the frunk and out the car cover on as well…I would never run it out the front of the frunk…
The soft close works fine on the frunk but it just requires you to close it firmly. From fully open I give it a firm push to close letting it fall down to the latch and from there it catches and closes just fine. I thought the same thing as most when I first got it because of having to press it closed. Just cant baby it when closing. Don't be afraid to slam it down. It will not damge anything. I have had my 24 for almost a year and probably have at least 50 or 60 closes on my frunk with no issue.
Valid complaints since most of the parts to fix the problems are already in GMs inventory. GM always seems to be half-stepping when it comes to their products. Look how long people complained about the seats in the Corvette when the CTS-V had better supportive seats than the Corvettes of the same era.
The CTS-V is their luxury sports offering to compete against german offerings in the same class Corvette being more sports focused is probably why. But I do agree with you GM can improve it at the same price level but they don’t
I was always under the understanding that the double click design of the frunk was to allow for a battery tender cable. If it was straight soft close without the double click wouldn't that erase that function.
@@JayJafar My 2021 didnt have soft close and I can tell you that the second click wasn't the luxury sport hey were aiming for lol. I'm sure they could design it better. I'm sure mercedes would have.
ALL great items to discuss. The Corvette 2024 LT3 I looked at in s showroom, showed me that several dash control items were just not good. For example, the Stalk controls on the Steering column. Down right cheap plastic for a $100K Car. Esp. with the LT3 upgrade.
And if you spec a upper end Z06 you end up at 160+ before markups and still get the same dash and controls What I dont like about the controls is the volume up and down so out dated and unnecessarily large and inconveniently placed
I just purchased a c8 2024 cacti green. I think what’s crazy about this video your driving around my hometown in OH. I’m trying to focus on the car but I was so hard with everything looking familiar. Thank you for the video
I'm shocked the frunk soft close feature on the 24 is not the same as the trunk soft close. That was one feature I was really tempted to wait for the 24. I'm glad I just got my 23 in April instead of waiting for the 24. Great video, definitely agree on the perspective shown.
The soft close was also a major reason I asked my dealer I am willing to move behind on the allocation so that I can get the 2024. My biggest shock was the car not having adaptive cruise control though, they put all the tech like censors for vehicle detection, auto braking etc. but still no Adaptive cruise.
You make a fair point Kaneo1994, But then why give a soft close at all? I am not disregarding what you mentioned, I just think now the soft close is more of a gimmick than something actually bringing value
The fact that you even brought that up to complain about is sad. Who cares man are you really buying this for the soft close frunk. Every point in the video seemed so bitchy except for the wirless charging
If you direct or feed the charger and its wire to the front windshield where the wiper is and not at the frunk lip you’ll avoid any issue of wire fracture. I do that and sit the charger on top of a microfibre cloth.
Good video. I am glad they are giving the rear view digital camera to the 1LT (non-convertible). I have a ‘23 C8 Z51 2LT and when I heard they had a soft close frunk, I was a little sad. Seeing your video, it doesn’t seem worth the wait, though I have to perform CPR to get the frunk closed.
The 2024 C8 LT1 is, in my opinion, one of the most incredible values imaginable. It performs in a class with cars costing many times more than its mid 70k price tag. Its performance capabilities far surpass most of its owners driving abilities. I'm sorry but I find your criticisms, for the most part, petty. Fingerprints on the hood? Give me a break.
I am with you 100%, my whole point was GM heard what the customers wanted hence added the soft close, but it did not really change the original complaint. But you are correct, the car overall is a far better value than anything else on the market, looks, performance and tech everything is way beyond the price point. My whole point was the "Changes" was not talking about the overall car. Hence the "petty" criticism
The subtle insult, ouch!! Traction Control was on and I floored it once the car was straight. I appreciate your concern for others but, trust me I do care for others and my own safety too. Even if the video may have suggested you otherwise.
All trims should have the blind spot monitors, front and rear cameras, and the option for the video on the rear view(glad they added that). Front soft close is pointless or bad design because of that battery cable for sure.
Owned a c5z, c6z, c6zr1, c7z, c7zr1 and now the c8z51...please allow me to explain, this c8 is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the previous models. Light years. Interior, transmission, power to the ground etc etc etc. You would sue Chevy if you owned a c5 and your complaining about these things on a c8. You need to view this car as a continuation of the previous model, the c7. If you compare it to that you will think this car is what it is, a homerun.
I was in the market for a gt350 but went with the corvette and dont regret it all. Disappointed on few minor things? Yes, but by all means I truly love the car.
I have one of the first Stingray built in 05/2022 I agree about the location of the phone charger needs to be in front where the driver can get it easier
Did you mean 2020? The car then would have been a great escape from the Covid stay at home era of the time haha I just done even use the wireless charging I keep a cable in the armrest for when needed which is only on longer trips
Yes mine are gt1, they are comfortable for me Ive done a 3 hour drive in one go and have spent over 8 hours in the car in one day, no fatigue no soreness. Keep in mind the bolster adjustments and lumbar support adjustments come with a 2LT and above For reference I am 5’11” 200 Lbs
The most interesting point you made in this video is the function of the frunk “Self” close feature. No other 2024 C8 video I have seen (Until now) has explained this. Very disappointing. Please keep us posted with more of your C8 videos. I am now a subscriber and should have my C8 by 5/2024, as I left my deposit 1/2023. Drive safe.
Thank you Illiya, means a lot I would definitely be uploading more Just weather permitting as I live around the NE snow belt Is this going to be your first corvette? This is my first… and I have Zero regrets
@@JayJafar Yes, my first Corvette. Except for the C2, they never appealed to me before. But now with the mid-engine design, it is a world class car. Great to hear you have “No regrets”. I decided on the Coupe also, and it is coming pretty highly optioned. I am in the Chicago area. Drive safe.
Thinking more about the frunk’s self close feature - perhaps it is this way so that when charging the battery with the cord coming out of the frunk, it will not get pinched.
Great video, Jay. I agree. Absolutely, GM has dropped the ball on upgrading the "basic" safety features in a car at this price point. Yes, it's a sports car, but will it hurt to add safety features that even every subaru model offers? Are the consumers asking too much ? How much does it really cost to add side mirror sensors or a warning beep for front and rear while parking ? If GM is charging $ 2595 for a front axel lift, then why not add those features with this package? I drove a c8 convert yesterday, and the front parking camera view is horrendous. I almost hit the car in the front while parking it back on the lot. I loved the car, but i plan on "using" it as much as possible, and these "minor" issues are a real pain in the butt. Especially if every other car in my driveway has those basic features. Once you're used to these features, it's hard to go back, and one tends to take them for granted in every car. My Ford Tremor has a far superior front camera. I would love to buy the car but need a solution for the front camera view. Is there any information on how to fix or upgrade to an aftermarket camera?
That is exactly how I feel, if you get the 2LT & above trim you do get rear parking sensors which do work well and also you get blind spot monitoring. The front camera is useful but surely does not belong on a $85K+ car its very out dated No solutions I have heard of for the front camera I know how one gets used to the technology its like using a new phone then going back to the old phones. My other car is a Tesla so I really feel the lack of tech in the C8
Unfortunately No, they added forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist but no adaptive cruise which I would have definitely valued a lot
You don't want DCC in a sports car, trust me on this...the invasive nature of such combined with the extra capabilities of your vehicle could end up killing you! I drove professionally for over 30 years and experienced what DCC could do for the last 5. It has a place- but not here.
This video comes across as a little bit of a whiny whiny video. I have a 2024. I’m just hoping that the major components don’t take a shit because I didn’t fall for their extended warranty so your concern really aren’t very important. GM will never address them.
Thank you Dan, I am very new to all this. I use Davinci Resolve (Free Version) I yet have to hit a dead end where the free version is the reason. P.S. For Shorts I use VN on my phone or iPad (Free again). I hope that helps
As soon as I saw the 2020, first thing that jumped to my attention was the location of the phone charger and the center stack. Obvious design flaws. These glaring flaws had me concerned about out design/quality control issues. for those reasons my attention moved over to the lexus LC 500
LC 500 is such a underrated sports car but its not without a significant price tag. Congrats on the purchase. The overall ownership cost of Lexus is usually significantly less based on my own research. I am in the market for I250 as my daily. I am happy with the build quality on my 2024 C8 though.
My personal opinion is that Chevy corporate should do what they said they would do and cut the allocations and or deliveries to any dealer that would gouge buyers. It's pathetic that dealers would use this car as a way to scam the buyer. I found a dealer in IL. ( Leach Wilson) that is willing to sell the car at MSRP. Aaron and the sales group there is just extremely helpful. The problem they're having is getting the allocation? So as usual you have the dealers that are gouging the buyer getting the allocations, and the dealers that are looking out for the buyer getting snubbed. Chevy stand by your word get the cars out to dealers that will work with the buyers. I understand that it is all about sales. The question is can't all the dealers that have buyers waiting get an allocation? I'm sure the sales of the car will be as strong and the people that have been waiting will be happy with Chevy. WOW what a great sales and corporate boost. The little guy who WANTS the car getting it.. Instead of the greedy self serving dealers getting the cars to the people that have the time and extra thousands to spend. Trust me I'm looking for a fully loaded Z07. I'm not looking for a baseline car, as I'm 65 and want to enjoy something I've waited my whole life for. C'MON CHEVY GET THE CAR OUT TO ALL THE DEALERS NOT JUST THE SELECT FEW EAST COAST AND OR GOUGING DEALERS. Get some allocations out to the smaller and mid range dealers as well.
GM sent out letters to dealers that they are not charge market adjustments that was just for "show" to customers as dealers still did and GM did nothing. Even to this day all dealers are over charging for the Z06 while some continue to do the same on the stingray. I did get mine on MSRP but had to wait 11 months
Even though the layman might not be able to differentiate between corvette models….I’m betting they cant tell the difference between Porsche 911 models as well…the value is for those of who actually buy the cars and know the differences….
True, and I think if you are used to the conveniences of other modern cars then you feel the lack of it in the c8… it is otherwise an amazing car in my opinion
I know how the wait feels but it will be worth it. @plate, Haha.. Im just bad at editing I guess, its okay I don’t really know the consequences as my video isn’t even real they are sped up 😝😉
1) Worrying about fingerprints on the frunk? This only impacts the owners that just want garage queens, where they will have the car for 3 years and put 700 miles on it because all they do is polish it and look at it, or park it at a car meet and sit on a lawn chair looking at it. The soft close works just fine. It get fingerprints, and if you drive it, its gonna get rock chips and door dings in parking lots and at some point a crack in the windshield from a rock... It's a car, that's how it works... I have had mine a month and have 2,100+ miles on it and already have a small chip in the PPF on the front. Is what it is... I don't even worry about it... 2) Putting "in Mexico" as some sort of disclaimer, like its gonna protect you legally if law enforcement were to try and use your video against you as evidence of speeding or reckless driving... yeah, no. Not gonna work. They can read the road signs and tell exactly where you were. haha 3) Never use Lane assist, I usually turn that off. Don't need it beeping at me if I am in the mtns and cut the inside left corner a bit and go over the line a tad... 4) Agree with the cell phone holder. It's really awkward to get to unless you are a contortionist. The seat locks you in nice and tight, and twisting 180 degrees to get to your phone is a pain...
Dave, 1) I am like you I dont care much about the prints but was sharing as others complained about it. I have about 2500 miles in 2 months but I live in NE ohio. Avoiding snow and salt but still driving 2) haha the Mexico was just as a joke, but these videos are just for entertainment (could be sped up too?) lol 😉 3) I use the lane keep a lot, but not during a spirited run just on highways and my other car is a Tesla (non FSD) so I really feel the difference 4) I have yet to find someone who actually uses the wireless charger and they use aftermarket holders next to the infotainment screen I appreciate you sharing your thoughts and thanks for watching
I own one and I not disappointing and I own Audi Honda and fords and a Mercedes and I knew when I bought this car it wasn’t to be confortable .This car is only to chill and if you don’t have the money to keep up after the guaranty expire this car is not for you
You really don’t know what changed with the frunk?!? Have you ever used a 2023 or earlier? You have to put your entire body weight down on the frunk to get it to click closed. Now you don’t.
I use a PellKing brand single suction cup for the interior shots using my phone and a PellKing 5 suction cup mount for the GTA shot using an insta 360 x3 …. I hope that helps
Lmao, there was another typo too, so kind of you to not mention that one 😂. I am too new to editing, got overwhelmed I guess so forgot to review spellings
Noted, I realized it after…. New to video editing got overwhelmed by everything else that I didnt catch the “Chnages” & “Phones” Thank you for your feedback :)
@@88Petry Go for it, wouldn't hurt to check your local dealership if they have one on the lot to try it. My cuzn who is 320 6' drives my car here and there and never complained.
Not Ferrari or McLaren have a better optioned car on the market in the performance range, and certainly not Porsche. Have you looked at what a base 992 911 gives you in interior options? The chassis ALONE is a better neutral handling car THAN any Carbon tub McLaren on track. GM has luxury cars that make you go to sleep as well, but this is a sports car and fiddling with your phone while driving a high horsepower anything is risky business.
I can not agree more with you here, the C8 is an amazing value for money. I love the car overall, but I extended my wait in order to get the 2024 because I did value the changes. Now in my opinion the changes were not worth the wait but in the end I am a pleased with the car. Stay tuned for more positive videos. I just had to get this one video topic off my chest 😂 Thank you for watching 🙂
Better optioned??!!! Look at the design and engineering - Porsche is light years ahead. Who at GM gave the green light for the interior especially the instrumentation??!!! Was it Mary??!!!
@@LWRC You literally are unaware of what the C8 series ACTUALLY is. The chassis is FAR beyond what Porsche is giving the public with either 718 or 911 models in this generation.
@@thiosemicarbizidebenzoylal2921 When it comes to engineering expertise, Porsche still beats GM!!! When the C8 was in development, GM bought a Porache 911 Twin Turbo and took it apart to benchmark. When was the last time Porsche bought any GM product to benchmark??!!! Look up constructor's wins in the 24 Hrs of LeMans and see Porsche at No 1 with 19 wins and Audi at No 2 with 13 wins! GM never won a single time as a constructor!!!!
What GM needs to change to make this car world class! • Redesign the interior and get rid of the tablet display and the HVAC small buttons on the rail to the right of the driver! This gimic just shows GM has no design talent and have to use a gimmick to make it something new!!! • The entire digital display could be better! Look, at what Porsche does! Keep the analog gauges even if represented in digital format!!!
Imagine not having that wall of buttons and truly taking advantage of a rear engine with no drive shaft going going through the center. Known fact is that they reverse engineered a 458 but they didn't take cue from it in the interior. I agree on the term "world class" is what GM could have achieved
The row of buttons doesn’t bother me in fact I think is cool. Your nit picking the interior. The C8 interior is leaps and bounds better than all the other generations before.
@@craigthescott5074 Yes. It is certainly better than the C7 and prior. However, it could have been so much better. Search YT for the Lamborghini Technica introduction video by Lamborghini and see how they executed the design and build of that car! Nothing goofy, no gimmicks just pure clean design and everything is logically placed and easy to use. And if you sat in the car and actually felt the materials and the switches, you'd know that this is first class all the way! No, GM did well but they fell significantly short of what the C8 could have been!
@@craigthescott5074 No doubt performance per dollar is right up there but I worry about the build quality. I think if I were to go the C8 Z06 route, I'd just buy a low mileage Lamborghini Gallardo and have twin turbos put on it. The C8 Z06 won't be a match as the Gallardo will have way more HP and have AWD! Yes, it is a bit older but the build quality of the old Gallardo still exceeds the new cars built by GM! As much as I want to buy American, this fact is still difficult to overcome!
HAHA Hilarious, You're funny!! 🤣 didnt think much of it, but in that moment I probably left some space for trucks to pull in if needed as I am parked behind a building which has shipping docks there
I do love the car, but wanted to cover the changes. Imagine when you hear soft close, lane keep etc etc you in your mind have some base line expectations of such features I think it’s not only me. But I appreciate you sharing your thoughts
HAHA, NO, I probably sounded like one. I love the car but was just pointing out some changes that I was excited about and waited longer to get the 2024 but didnt meet modern expectations. Stay tuned for more positive videos. Thank you for watching :)
Lane keep assist, finger prints, wireless charging? The problem is you! You bought the wrong car. Gm knocked it out of the park on this thing. You need a Lexus or a Tesla. This is a car for people who you know like to drive cars not complain. Wireless charging still laughing about that one. But pdr is an awesome option especially for track. I don’t have it wish I did.
Can’t agree with you more, except the problem being me part. The point is that they offered it and customers are paying for it and a “new” offering in 2024 is expected to be technologically new. I can go on and on why so many people opt for after market solutions for charging in this car. I think I gave the wrong message here, in reality I absolutely love the car!!
