Would it be possible in your reviews to take a shot at the shortest draw length? That would give us T-Rex guys an idea the efficiency at short draw. I think we all know the approximation of 10fps per inch but actual numbers would be nice to see. I also see that this would only really be possible on the rotating cam bows not the module or cam specific.
I'm 5'9" but have trex arms and a 27 inch draw length. One of my bows has a short draw cam that maxes out at 27 inches. The other had a normal rotating cam that maxed out at 30. It was crazy how much slower the rotating one was. I sold the rotating one and would only buy draw length specific cam bows now or short draw cams that max out at 27.
@@jackbuendgen389 I got into bows in 2017. My first bow was an Obsession Turmoil 2017. I believe it was it's first year and in 2018 they went to a different adjustable draw length cam. There were SD short draw cams available and I picked those up. A year or two later I thought I would step it up to the Obsession Defcon M6Z. I didn't end up liking it and sold it to a friend. So I still use the 2017 Turmoil because I haven't seen anything that fits my criteria since. SD cam or draw length specific cam or mod, and under 4.5 lbs... preferably closer to 4. I have a heavy sight and that doesn't help. I'm in the Midwest and nearly everyone I know has a Mathews bow, and one or two have Hoyt. The Mathews are all heavy ass bricks, which is why the new lift is the first interesting Mathews to me.
Really glad to see Darton taking their engineering and putting it into a bow rather than it being on all these other bows. Love the honest bow reviews Josh! Really enjoying your channel!
We 60# people really don't care about IBO speed. Just the speed it shoots at different weight arrows. Love to see reviews of 60#'s. I respect your opinions and don't jump on manufacturer bandwagons just what works for me. Thanks for what you do.
If you can get an APA Black Mamba Pro it would be great to see a review on it. For the past few years the major bow companies have been putting out the same bow with small changes but this year is gona be awesome. From what I've seen most of the manufacturers have made big changes to their new lineup. Especially PSE, that new shim system is fantastic. But the APA Black Mamba Pro is definitely different and revolutionary in the compound bow world. You really need to check it out.
Agreed would love to get MFJJ's opinions on the Mamba pro the speed test I saw on it seems it's a super-fast bow. 100 lbs limb option to is just crazy.
What about the Black Mamba Pro is revolutionary? I generally don't know a lot about their new bows if I am being honest. What I do know about them comes from my experience a few years ago. They were incredibly finnicky to tune and had made no real changes year to year. That's the primary reason we stopped carrying them in the shop I used to work in.
I’d been using a poor man’s Bear Threat, and recently upgraded to a Mathews Phase 4 33. I have learned a great deal from this channel. Especially the confidence to do my own maintenance. I appreciated your candor, confidence, knowledge and experience.
THANK YOU THANK YOU Saw your 2 yo video on prpoer grip I am an idiot and have been casting magic spells for a year! You said pull the hand up and back and there is so much more stability. I’ve been balancing in the crotch of my thumb and have bounced everywhere but now I pull back with the heel of my hand and am hitting dimes at 30yrs It just feels weird with the modern skinny grips…I’m old…er Thank u so much….in GA
As soon as i saw this bow sure enough you had the review already up, that is just awesome! I would be interested to see the vibration numbers with the different arrow weights. I'm shootin roughly 530 grain taw an my bow loves it. When I shoot a 400ish grain arrow it feels & sounds alot different!!
I really like your videos & reviews, including this one. But once you started grading the bow at 10:36, it seemed little subjective or perhaps biased. :) I will comment on that and go in chronological order: Tunability, grade 3: A grade 3 /5 for a bow with 1/4" draw length increments? Plus shims, plus yokes. I wonder what exactly is 'tunability' for you, and what does a bow need to provide for a grade 5 on this; Features, grade 3: what features are you looking for? Gimmicks like bipods or the "sensors" integrated into the handgrip, that another brand has? :) Who needs that? How like a material with 80% higher tensile strength (yes, eighty percent higher) than the standard aluminum alloy used by most of the manufactureres, i.e. the 7071 alloy, that is, in fact, the case here, i.e that Darton is using? How is that for a 'feature'? If you ask me - that's the feature I like to see and that I care about. The cams are machined from the same material, and they are not designed slimmed way down (like for example PSE's) so these bows are set to both perform AND last a looong time of use and abuse. Add the overall reputation on machining, tolerances, and their laminated limbs reputation. It depends what you call 'features' but the ones I mentioned here are the features personally I like to see, i.e. quality and a value for money. Ballance, grade 4: you say it ballances really well but you give them a 4? Back wall, grade 4: you say "it does cycle and hit real clean and real good", but grade them with 4...? For me, I dont think the hardest the wall the better it is - necessarily. For me personally, cable stoppers are a plus and some very small and elastic give (by cable stoppers) as you expand to activate the release is welcome for propper release execution. I allways remove limb stoppers for bows that have them. Grip, grade 4: you phrase it but give 4? For me personally, the narrower the better, like ,,OK Archery's" or some other brands but Darton seems OK; Draw cycle, grade 4: This is very subjective property to evaluate, but OK; Physicall weight 4: they may be slightly on the heavier side, but I wonder if some of these on the lower side bows with a lot of machined cut outs will stand the test of time; ...etc. Price point MSRP 1149 USD: "They are not the biggest name in the industry?" Is this a joke? The company is around for 50yrs, it was run by a mech. engineer who knows the substance, they patented binary cams, to say the least... Their quality of design and engineering is right up there. Their crossbows never fail, they have a pattented trigger housing unit which never failed....I have their crossbow Viper Xtreme SS from 2013 and it is pounding like it was made yesterday! Look on forums for all the issues and new (fancy and pricey) xbows falling appart after short use... They do not need the hype to prove themselves. So the grade you give them for the price is 4: If you dont mind me asking, I only wonder: How many bows in that price point offer: A) 7071 alloy riser, B) 7071 alloy cams, C) Darton reputation for performance and product integrity? I believe that should be taken into consideration when grading this. When measuring vibrations, perhaps not only the maxima but the average (integral over time) should be evaluated. Same goes for the noise that could be measured by a microphone and a noise acqusition system. The bow seemed pretty silent, juding only from the video above, the arrow speed it delivers and the fact it had no stabilisers. Not many companies can give the reputation, honesty and integrity, and the value for money as Darton. In a way, they are similar to Toyota in the car world or what Vollkswagen used to be. Just my 2c. Thanks!
Thanks for a consistent review platform. You asked, so...the speed tests are (probably) not using the same chronometer as the manufacturer and they have a small sweet spot, so those speed tests aren't likely to be accurate in comparison - BUT the comparison bow to bow is super helpful anyway. Thanks again for all your work
Always quality videos, question on the bow speed you gave us the video on ibo speed but what about using wisker vs drop away effecting the speed due to resistance?
Fair review was wondering if u would ever do some lighter DW bows where most avg hunters are at to give more real world stats for most of the general population. Also would love to see a head to head comparison for SD bows out there as well. But great job! Keep em coming!
So on Instagram I saw a notched tag.... 🎉 Where's the rest of pictures. Side 📝 note, someone say bow giveaway 😢 Congratulations on your elk. Thanks for sharing your story.
Thank for all you’re doing! Any idea why they went away from the e system? Do you include riser length on your table? I know reflex is in there. Also, I believe darton uses different aluminum than other companies. Is this denser/heavier? My spectra is a chunk but shoots great.
Have gone back and re-watched a bunch of your bow reviews and now i think this bow should of scored better. The draw cycle seemed as smooth as the prime bows but way faster.
Could you possibly do a video showing a vibration reading with a base Mathew’s lift vs a fully built Mathew’s lift with the bridgelock stabilizers to show the difference in vibration
What other let off options are there for it? Some states allow 80% or less let off for archery hunting. I love the vibration tests you're doing now with an actual way to measure it instead of most videos I see where it's just the shooter's opinion. The fact that Darton has been around for so long and sells patents and products to other companies for them to use really speaks volumes.
Loving the bow reviews! One thing I can't help but notice is you take all the extra stuff off the bow like the rubber dampeners, orbit dampeners, etc. for getting an "accurate" weight, but then you put them back on for testing vibration feel. It seems like you are giving inadvertent bias toward the companies that add extra vibration dampening/accessories by not penalizing them for the extra weight. Maybe something to consider for future years. Keep up the good work!
@@leonw6635 had my fingers crossed for it this year. But weight and being slim is a big part of their selling point so I don’t see them going that direction for awhile.s
Hey, good info at the end. I was wondering if you could also cut the quiver in half and get an extra mount, so you could have a two piece quiver. What do you think?
Really considering giving this bow a try. Prices in Canada are stupid expensive. I like Hoyt shot one for years but at almost 2 grand after tax for the alpha x is hardly worth it in my opinion
I just bought 3 Veracity 35's ..2 for my boys and my wife for Xmas. I planned on hiding the boxes and giving them the hats to ponder over. After a call to Darton I find out they dont include hats now due to people bitching their free hat was crumpled in the box. I had to pay for 3 GD hats for a gag gift. I have shot Dartons since '96 but those hats burnt my ass.
love the vibration testing. Still kind of question it. your recording when you pull back and when you lower it to go check. Some of your measurements on other bows are hitting the peak when you pull back this video im almost certain that your second shot max was from you lowering the bow to look. Regardless thanks for the great content!
Are you gonna review the consequence i know its not flagship level but its a great price bow and im sure alot of guys and girls would be interested in that ....thank u
@brentbandy3566 that may be. But I would love to see an MFJJ review on it. Going over everything it has cause it has a lot that could be gimmicky or not.
I may have asked this before and if so, don't shoot me for my redundancy please. What is the benefit of the reflex design? If a lower reflex geometry is preferred, why do they design them with the reflex at all?
Plus it was as fast as the lift at a lot lower ibo, less vibration than the Lift. You can easily tell when someone just does and says anything just to make a bow standout, when it obviously shouldn't
With the big name brands out there. How does a company like Darton stay in business ? Im curious what their net profits are. It is great that they continue to engineer and produce bows. I can only think they must have their loyal fan base. Because a guy like me. They're not even a blip on the radar to be a must shoot bow When im in the market for a new one. Bear martin darton ect. dont wven get thought about with all the Hype on mathews bow-tech hoyt pse. And when i was wanting a speed bow i bought me an Obsession FX30 in 2019. I also bought the VXR 28 that same year. Giving the VXR to my kid and let him shoot this year. I shot my FX30 deer hunting this year. I love that bow its not the most dead in the hand or quiet. But it just flat out shoots darts fast also 65lbs 28" draw. 418 grain Rip TKO 294 fps. 350 grain arrow 324 fps. I put my build in on the Lift 29.5 yesterday. But im sure i will shoot a dear every year with my FX 30. have shot at least 1 every year since i purchased. And not to mention it just looks sic. i get compliments all the time. Last leaf ghoast riser black limbs red cams. Red and black twist string. Its so damn kool
That's the ticket. All the " hype" but I believe Mathew's sounded a big bark this year that's not able to live up the hype they put out. Many many many will see, that Lift is not as good as being " hyped. Right here with the Daron Sequel. It's got a lot less ibo rating, yet it's just as fast as the lift 33 and it's actually less vibration on the test. Sooooooooo
