If I’m not mistaken, Ohtani’s hit ball, with a ball speed of about 109 miles and a spin rate of 552 rotations, should show enough numbers to induce a massive home run. Despite it being just the first day of batting practice, this is too amazing! Indeed, he must be the son of the baseball god.

If you're talking about the trackman stat the 522 is the spinrate generated by the ball. Don't think they're measuring the distance. Mostly just exit velocity and launch angle.

He looks in good form at this point. This is interesting, but check out the video where you see from behind the plate with an upward angle so you can watch the baseballs rocket off his bat into into outer space. Of course, it's just BP, and we need to be patient, not get expectations too high, etc. Let the guy be human even if he seems superhuman.

Swinging a bat doesn't put the same strain on the elbow that throwing does. That's why both Ohtani and Harper were able to continue batting with torn UCLs and why both Ohtani and Harper are able bat sooner after Tommy John surgery than pitchers can throw after TJ.

😂😂😂Shohei's 1st BP in spring camp is trending at #22 in Japan right now along with animation PV, drama promotion, & popular artists' MTV (might be much higher ranking at earlier timing)! Ohtani's in Japan recently becomes so popular that popular K Pop/J Pop artists or famous actors might view Shohei as the biggest competitor for national popularity since Shohei has the greatest media exposures and national influences in Japan from morning till after midnight 7 days a week 🤣!

@@mirikaku5811 In 2018, 2019, 2022 they both played more than 100 games. In 2020 Ohtani played 43/60 games and Trout played 53/60 games. The only season Trout missed most of was 2021 and last year he played half with 82 games. Not to mention the accolades they both got within these 6 years. You cannot tell me that they couldn’t have had at least ONE winning season out of all these lol

I'm an Ohtani fan more than an Angels fan, though I rooted for the Angels for many years. They were largely wasting his talent on a team with no postseason prospects. But at least he achieved a lot and seemed to enjoy his teammates there, showing for the last few years what he could do as an historic two-way player putting up incredible numbers.

Only Kuriyama said Shohei is not neccesary best when he does one over the other. He seem to be better when he does both which balances his strengths

He's been listed at 6'4" and 210 for years, when it's been clear he's bigger than that in recent years. He's probably at least 220 and close to 6'5". Players who see him on the field for the first time often comment that he looks bigger in person.

@@surfwriter8461 According to Glasnow, Ohtani must be at least 230-235Ibs (muscles!) and because 6’4’ is from his time in NPB. (He entered Fighters at age 18..could still been growing..) besides, in Japan, they ALWAYS measure bare feet, while often in MLB, many are measured with shoes on…

@@mirikaku5811 How difficult is it to update his measurements? The Angels never did, and any online listings are clearly not up-to-date. Just put the guy on a scale, measure him against a wall and then update that stuff.

@@surfwriter8461 Agree, but they rather just copy information available…never mind it could be 10 years old 🤣 Angles never bothered. Same with Sasaki (Roki) He entered NPB as 18 yrs old and still measured as ‘6’2’ while he seem to have grown an inch at least rather ‘6’3’
