I would highly recommend going to Sibiu in Romania. A university town with a nice vibe and food scene. I enjoyed the several beautiful squares and just the general layout of the city.

Those locations sound amazing! Randomly met someone about to move to Romania a couple winters ago. Saw someone in a Worldschoolers group about Turkey. I’m starting to dip my toe as we leave Brisbane today, tho king about more international travel. Healthcare is my main concern right now - places more budget friendly haven’t seemed to also be good choices if we have an emergency, which we seem to have about every year.

Thanks Adriene, we are pretty excited! Brisbane, Australia? Health care is a big one for a lot of folks who comment on our videos. We have been fortunate thus far, although we carry a travel medical insurance with medical and emergency benefits just in case. What we have seen with most of the more affordable countries we have lived in is the major cities have the best hospitals. There are clinics and small regional hospital's as well for smaller emergencies. Many have much more affordable costs vs. the U.S. healthcare system as well. We also keep emergency funds set aside too.

we live in Sarande - also toured the East: Vietnam was impressive & working hard to make tourists comfortable. Enjoy the travel & may catch ya in Albania sometime :)

I think your plans sound great. I am new to your channel (Today) so I don't know if you've already traveled to South or Central America. The only thing I would recommend considering is going to The Fringe Festival in Edinburgh. My wife and I went last year and it was really nice (We live full-time in Costa Rica).

Sounds great. Albania is on my list. Perhaps next year with a loop through Bansko for nomadfest in 2025… Turkey is awesome .. cappadocia is fun, as is Istanbul. I hiked the Lycian way over a month, ending up in antalia. Good plans. Thailand is also on my list!

Great update! We are on a global adventure for a few years too. Lots to plan, Can you explain your choice of health care insurance, monthly travel costs, etc? Obviously a huge decision for nomad travelers. We're going to put out an expense vlog next month... Maybe we'll cross paths someday. Give us a subscribe too 👍 John & Teri

Thanks. Health care is a big question we get often. We are using safetywing at present but it is not "health insurance" more of an expanded medical travel insurance. It all depends on lots of individual factors. We have several cost of living videos that cover our basic expenses. Hopefully we'll meet on the road! Cheers, Joel & Michelle

Congratulations on traveling again. Have you thought about getting a car through an Albanian business? 🤔 Similar to what Warren and Julie did in Bulgaria. Excellent choice on all those places. Do you like one region more than the rest? 🌎

Thanks, we are very excited to be back on the road so to speak! We have our international DL in case we want to hire a car, although we haven't made any concrete plans as of yet. It is hard to say what we like best so far, our time in Portugal was amazing and we keep going back to Bulgaria so I guess that says something. Albania is very beautiful and still affordable which helps us out. Romania, Turkey and SE Asia will all be new for us 🤞

Hello and thank you for creating these videos, they are very helpful. I follow similar videos from other couples and I am still struggling to to find information for the following to support slow travel or relocation to another country. How to keep your US brokerage account? How to keep your US bank account? How to find a virtual mailbox service that isn't flagged as a virtual mailbox by banks and brokerage services? How to keep your US cell phone when you spend most of your time abroad? Do you have a bank account overseas? Any help with solving any of these items is much appreciated!

Those are all great questions! Our experience is with slow travel and not being a full-blown expat. As for the address and banking.. The easiest answer is to keep your address with a friend or family. There are Mail services that you can use as well. Make sure they have an actual physical address. As for the phone... you can keep a U.S. plan that has international but it has caveats and can be out of some budget ranges. Or you can port you U.S. number to a VOIP service and use eims and local Sim cards. We are planning a video about the phone stuff as we just did the 2nd option. We will add the questions to our list for a Q&A video. I hope that helps in the meantime. Joel & Michelle

@@TheWanderingHartz Hello, and thanks for the reply. When you are traveling do you us a US credit and debit card? If so, has your bank asked why you have lots of charges and withdrawls from your travel locations? I am curious if your bank or credit card company has reached out to you to find out why you've had charges aboard over the past four years of your travel. Do you use a service like Wise to get around this? Thank you, any help with this is much appreciated.

Give your bank a travel notice for the countries you plan on visiting. Get a CC made for travel.
