Overall wonderful video! I would love to know a little more about the prices, though I certainly understand that housing, as you said, depends heavily on the size and location, But, it would have been nice to know what your VRBO ran for the two month stay. Maybe next time 😉
We go over all of the cost of living in separate videos for Rincon and Fajardo. You can find them on the channel search or via one of the playlists: Puerto Rico or Cost of Living.
I absolutely love this video- you’re so honest about the things that are hard, while obviously fully appreciating the wonderful stuff.. this may be the most realistic assessment I’ve seen!
Thank you so much for your kind words! It really means a lot to us that you appreciate the honesty in our videos. There are always pros and cons to every lifestyle and full-time travel has its own unique challenges, but we still love it!
Thanks for the info! Quick question: With no aircon in the apartments like the ones shown, can indoor summer temperatures get uncomfortable at times, especially on 2nd, 3rd, 4th floors? IOW is AC sometimes necessary from June to September?
It depends on if you're facing south mainly. Although the last few years have gotten hotter and stayed hotter longer than just a few years ago. Mostly July and August.
That's true. Fitted sheets mean the landlord passed an IQ test. You'd think after 800 years of regular sheets, intelligent Europeans would have noticed they don't stay put

It depends on the airline's carry-on restrictions. For instance it fits on Southwest as a carry-on. You will need to check the airlines restrictions prior to departure or check the bag. We recommend that everyone should be doing this for every flight, anywhere, as carry-on restrictions can vary a lot and change without notice.
No we haven't. We mainly use ours as checked luggage since we like to have minimal luggage when traveling abroad for long trips. That way it is easier for us to put it on buses and trains versus large suitcases.
I have the new Beis international carry on purchased directly from Beis. I love it - particularly the interior organization. I was able to purchase this on sale for 20% off!
The posters with passed loved ones are actually the Bulgarian form of obituary. Usually they have a poem or a few kind words and details about the funeral, or anniversary since the date the person died. Traditionally , prior to social media, this was the only way to spread the word for family, neighbours, friends etc to come and pay their respect.
Thanks for watching! On shorter stays pricing varies too much due to time of year and how long you stay. We left a link in the description if you want to check on the nightly rate.
I am moving a studio apartment. I only have two large items, a tv stand and my 6 ft sofa. Everything else can come apart. I am also using IKEA DIMPA bags for clothes and soft items. I think this container will work (Hopefully). I don't want to get a second one and I already gave away and tossed many things.
UHaul website states "When in doubt get extra - we won't charge you if you don't use it." so definitely call/email and ask about that in case that helps!
We are just called Macedonians. There is actually no such thing as “north” Macedonians. Welcome back anytime! When you do decide to come back there is a lot more places I can recommend! Greetings from MACEDONIA 🇲🇰☝️
Merci. That's a bummer about the 90/180 rule being applied to Bansko because they're now in the Schengen Area. More and more, Albania seems to be the sweet spot for all things needed for slow travelers. Ciao (Chau) :)
What if I'm already in Miami. I get most most of that here right? Cost of living should be higher here so it seems like a good place to go with basically the same of everything else?
i Love your content guys! I bought an apartment in Bansko at the end of last year... ive been at the nomad fest the last 2 summers.. Im kinda suprised ye didnt mention 3 months a year Bansko is a Ski-resort and Buzzing with life and tourism.. Im heading there for Christmas and New Year.. Greetings from a Vietnam based follower 🙂
I am currently trying to decide where I go after Albania, leave here at the end of October. How long would you say a slow traveller might enjoy Bansko? I prefer a month at a time, but it looks pretty small and isolated so is there enough to justify a month? Remembering I am talking slow travel, so not looking for daily activities. Thanks, hope you can reply.
We have slow traveled in Bansko now for three summers. If your working and want a place to chill and enjoy some nice hiking and affordable food it could be good option for you. October in bansko will be starting to get cooler and slower.
It depends on what you're looking for, we have only spent time in Fajardo and Rincon. We liked the vibe of Rincon better but that's just us. It is a bit more isolated on the west coast. We know of a lot of americans who prefer the south east coast near Humacao/ Palmas Del Mar. There are many beautiful towns each with their own advantages and disadvantages. Wish we could be more help.
Saint Ivan Rilsky Royal Park apartments is the place to stay at the top elevation of Bansko if €50 per night is in your budget. That's way way up on the mountain but still walking distance. You'll walk past babbling brooks and dozens of grazing horses. The food at the hotel section is by far the best in Bansko and often it's a buffet to rival those on a Carnival Cruise liner. If you can pay €25 each for the spa and pool, it's like you're king and queen of the mountains. I can't recommend that place enough. I only wish I wasn't on a tight budget the month I was there and couldn't enjoy staying at the best place.
Next please do a video on Kavala, which is only a €100 taxi 🚕 down the hill from Bansko. It too goes to sleep with closed restaurants and hotels on October 1st, but you can swim for free in the warm Aegean right up to Halloween 🎃 after which the winter storms make the beaches of northern Greece not so much fun for four months. Great deals are to be had if you're okay with the loneliness of northern Greece in the winter, meaning if you have a family and you think it's cool to send your small child to a school where they only speak Greek . The family will be able to go for long walks on Blue Flag beaches with no-one around for miles. 😊
Kavala sounds great! We almost made it there for Joel's birthday but ended up staying in Bansko instead. Now we are going to have to add it back on the list based on your glowing review!
@@TheWanderingHartz Great choice. It's a big change from Bansko and less than 3 hours down the mountain. I recommend Hotel Porto Palio on the super clean and sandy Palio Beach ⛱️ to the west of the city about 10km. They are four stars but Google lies and says they're two stars. It's a secret I shouldn't be giving out publicly that this beach hotel can't be missed. Great restaurant on the beach as well. ⛱️ The swimming is to die for (it's really safe - I mean it feels like you're in Heaven there). A problem is the hotel might shut down for the winter in mid October like they did last year. Greeks don't like the weather when it dips below 25 Celsius at night. ;) The water temperature will stay above 20 until Halloween. Which is why your next destination should be Keramoti 35km to the east in the middle of a nature preserve. Many think of Keramoti as just the place to catch the huge ferries to Thanos, the massive volcano 🌋 island that dominates your view there and is only 20 minutes to get to by the ferry. The thing is, don't stay overnight on Thanos. Go to the Belvedere Luxury Apartments on the huge blue flag beach ⛱️ at Keramoti itself. Spend two months there for €40 per night and swim in the cleanest waters anywhere while the Thanos volcano 🌋 hovers over you. In October the entire beach is yours alone practically. Around November 1st a storm will roll in turning the beach into a winter nightmare, but you'll have the memories.
Where are you finding that taxi? Surely not in Bansko, where the cabs are a total rip off. I think I paid over 10 euro just to go three miles to the Pirin golf course. I was told that the cab company is owned by Russian mafia. I do wish I'd made it to Kavala.
Did you ever see the movie "The Shining?" That's Bansko in the fall.🍁 Big empty hotels. It's the loneliest place I've ever visited. It exists on a steep incline so you better be ready for a workout wherever you walk. You will notice it has two percent less oxygen as Sofia does, although the freshness of the air is commendable. Cell towers are everywhere within fifty meters of where you're at, which I've never seen anywhere else. The coverage would be excellent for your phone but I was nervous about the coverage of the body. I prefer to live at least a few blocks from major phone towers. Nobody is there in September, October and November. Friends i made there left quickly for that reason: it felt like everyone in the world had disappeared. Beware of bed bugs as you'll get what you don't pay not to have. I recommend the brunch way up at the five star hotel above the horse pasture as high as you can walk. Thirty Euros for a great brunch. Unfortunately I found no decent sized swimming pool but the pool at that hotel was ok. But it's expensive. You need to go with a moderate amount of money to spend if you're a swimmer. This is not a place to be enjoyed on a tight budget. The famous pizza place on Pirin Street half way up is good. In October and November all the best restaurants are closed. All three of them. The nearest hospital is 15km away in another town down the mountain and across a valley. Don't get hurt or sick there. Well there is a small med punkt by the pond where a nurse might bandage a scraped knee or take your blood pressure. 🩹

Lololol ok yeah I don't see this house sitting thing happening. I have heard this on like 3 videos and I just can't imagine leaving my house open for rando's to come in and stay as long as they feed the cat....what's that, your travelers and I'll never see you again! Even better.. love the vid tho
We have house sat a few times, you are usually vetted or recommended just like a babysitter for a kid. It usually doesn't work out for us due to logistics and often the length of stays are shorter than our preference of 1 month. Glad you liked the video!
The link should take you to everything available near the mariana. Pena Mar is the complex we stayed in, it is on the North side of the Marina. Hope that helps
