It was 5 years ago, at a time when sedan sales were rapidly declining, that Genesis decided to unveil an all-new four-door, the G70. And just to make things more difficult, it was designed to compete directly against the best European compact sport sedans, which it did impressively well. So yes, the G70 is still hanging around; and what’s more, it’s gotten even better!

I'm glad your car is holding up. I have had 2 top trim G70s (3.3T sport in Canada) owned since brand new. The first car I had multiple acceleration issues where the car would lose almost all power. Multiple dealer attempts and months to fix. Ended up replacing the turbo and thr fuel pump. Was the only negative with the car so I stuck with the brand for a brand new 2024 G70 but this one has electrical issues galore from brand new. I have driven it 2 times since I picked it up from the dealer. Only 2. Had to get towed back to dealer immediately as the car battery was dying. 2.5 months later and it's still in service with no fix in sight. New battery installed. New alternator. New fuse box. Now been waiting for a month for a whole new wiring harness for front passenger door to see if that fixes the battery draw. Just brutal service from Genesis Canada as well. I have total regret sticking with the brand. Has totally soured me. Hope yours keeps going strong!

These can be found on the used market at some pretty good deals. It’s an outstanding value new also, especially with the 10 year warranty. My 2018 Stinger has had no mechanical issues.

If you buy used, you lose the 10 year warranty. But it still keeps the 5yr/60k standard warranty.

These cars are great! Especially deals on used. I purchased a lightly used 3.3T AWD for nearly half its MSRP last year. The V6 is the one to get as its regarded as the most bulletproof engine in all of Hyundai Corps offerings. The 4 cyl, not so much. Throw in a tune or JB4 and you're well over 400hp, but even stock it's plenty fast. Also, my dealer experience has been generally excellent. They've even fixed the minor squeaks and rattles for crying out loud! Most dealers give you the old "couldn't replicate customers concern." Modern Mercedes are notorious for that problem.

My dealership is offering me a 3.3t fully loaded for a lease price of 575-599 a month at 3,000 down. Is it that good of a deal or try and wait for a bmw or alpha Romeo sedan for similar if it’s even possible. The lease price is tempting

@@scoutandscooter I drove a 2018 GT1 when I was 20, a coworkers friend had just picked one up and let me take it for a spin, definitely prefer it over the genesis, but still love how the genesis I drove felt. Mind you it was a 2022, but they haven't changed too much.

I picked up a 2023 3.3 fully loaded demo unit from a 5 star genesis dealership with 7k miles on it for $42k. Could not be happier.

genesis is a really underrated brand, their cars have a nice unique look compared to new bmw's. people assume genesis cars are not good cars just because their made by hyundai.

My local Hyundai dealer has been selling Genesis cars since 2008. Now there is a stand alone dealer in the area and I saw one of these G70's on the lot and it looked terrific in silver paint with the gray interior. At $45,500, including destination, it seemed like a relative bargain.

No quarter-mile and brake test? If you don't want to use a VBOX, Dragy and P-Gear are great and simpler alternatives for quarter-mile times. It might be a good idea to always use Dragy/P-Gear anyway to compare it to track equipment for E.T.s (mph/trap speed might not be as accurate as track equipment).

I think the G70 is a fine car. It needs to bring back the orange color the 2018 KIA Stinger GT2 had, which was stunning. That would likely boost sales.

As the owner of a Kia Stinger gt, I'm glad the G70 is still around. I feel the Stinger is the more usable of the two though, given its massive hatch. The Stinger has been nothing but fantastic, haven't fixed anything besides oil changes and tires. I do wish the Stinger hadn't been cancelled but I'm glad I got one.
