This is what seperates Genesis from the other luxury brands. The constant innovations, and pushing the limits on how much luxury they can add. It is a bit sad that Genesis is only thriving at a time when gasoline cars are being less focused on. The 3.5T is an amazing engine, and can compete with the Germans. Another great review. This feels so much more substantial than a facelift. Almost a new car on the inside.
if i can afford this car when it comes to the US i will be buying it. i love the interior than what Mercedes, BMW and Audi has to offer. Genesis is killing the luxury vehicle game.

Apologies if I've already made this comment before on your site, but I was the first customer outside of Korea to take delivery of my Electrified G80 in July '22 here in the UK. My car I in Matira Blue with the Arctic White/Lagoon Geen interior. It is a fully 'specced' car with the exception of what in the UK and presumably European market, is the executive pack - this gives you the rear screens, electric rear blind/manual side window blinds, heated rear seats, and soft Close rear doors. Being a 'gadget lover' Initially I would have liked this option, but there simply wasn't a car available to my chosen colour and spec which included it available, which would have meant a lengthy wait for a factory order, however as I later discovered, unlike as you have demonstrated, on face-lift this has been much improved. With the original system the rear screens essentially control the functionality of the drivers screen, so they can't work independently. All this means it's more for someone who has a chauffeur and/or you regularly have rear passengers. I rarely if ever have anyone in the back, and I certainly don't have a chauffeur!! So I saved some GBP3,000, although the soft close doors would have been nice to have. All that said, I have to say that after some twenty years of various Jaguars, and prior to the G80, seven years owning a Maserati Ghibli the Genesis is the best car I've owned!
It is my first time reading such feedback. Glad you are happy with your G80e, it truly is an amazing car, full of luxury. We will always see a facelift and all-new model, so being happy with your car is one of the most important things when it comes to cars, I think. I mean, G80e is the ultimate luxury G80, I love everything about that car, especially the bright interior you got! I refer to that car every time I think of a beautiful interior.
Thanks for the excellent review, been driving Audi and BMW for the past 10 years and Genesis G80 facelift is on my top list for the new car. Can't wait to see the specs offered for Australia market mid year. It is really bang for the bucks compared to A7/A6 and 5 and E class.
I've got a 2021 G80 3.5T Prestige and love it! Some things I've said from day 1 though is I wished it had animation head/tail lights and more ambient lighting in the interior, both of which is a cheap upgrade seeing we've had both technologies since the year 2000. The face-lift on the new G80 isn't bad; like the grill & bumper, more so in the standard than the Sport. The rear of the Sport isn't bad, but the way they did the exhaust on the standard model looks terrible! There is still exhaust there and it looks 100x better built into the bumper, so WHY point the exhaust down and do a fake out bumper like it's an EV!? I'm baffled over that one. I'm not excited or thrilled about the new interior either. Here we go again with throwing a big screen up on the dash like it's just resting there. It just screams lazy and makes the dash look incomplete. They barely added anymore ambient lighting and it doesn't do much at night. I'm not crazy about the new carbon fiber replacement.. love the natural wood look 10x better. A couple things I've always wondered about is why they couldn't put an automatic shade on the driver and passenger rear windows like the GV80 has.. and why does the U.S. versions (not just Genesis but all manufacturers) not offer screens like that on the back of the seats? I would love that for my son so he wouldn't have to bring his tablet everywhere. Overall, I cannot see myself forking out money for the new G80 when the only thing I love about it is the new head/tail lights. Now if I could get the front end of the new G80 standard, the rear from the new G80 Sport and keep my current interior, than we'd be in business😆
The car looks great. The new wheels are a big improvement from the overused five spoke wheel. The only thing now that needs fixing are the front fender marker lights. The chrome on them looks cheap. Clean them up like the G90 and you will have a winner !
Is there some kind of (sunlight-filtering) coating on the display of the instrument panel, so that you can see the screen even if the sunlight hits the screen from the sides?. 🤔
Not a fan of the redesigned interior, prior one was a lot more aesthetically pleasing! Same with the exterior, except for the headlights. Hiding the exhaust also took away some visual charm.
@@CarSceneKorea Oh, no question, but the design execution was not the best. It literally mimicks what BMW is currently doing and what they have in other Hyundai models too. They could've, at least, done something similar to the GV80 concept where the screen arches from driver to passenger and covers a larger area. It would've made it look much more avant-garde and distinctive.
As impressive as the car is, I would have liked to see more substance changes in the powertrains and dynamics taking into mind the new European and the new imminent Lexus ES competition roll outs.
The car is perfect as it is for driving like a normal person. It is the best riding vehicle in its class with the adaptive suspension. It is not the most dynamic driving car, but that is slowly dying in this segment unless you step up to a V8 entry with the Germans.
@@21Dimen that’s not the point I made. To recap; the car is impressive in every category except the power plants which are adequate. They do not reflect the higher standards employed everywhere else in the vehicle.
Good descriptions and information but it would be worthwhile to rehearse and try to have the information flow rather than the coppy, spliced together bits that is annoying and make you sound like a robot.
The matrix headlights that Hyundai called IFS still don't work well. Although the design is very fancy, IFS is just a little bro compared with the brightness and intelligence of a single lens headlight of German and Japanese brands. Less pixels, slower active speed and the whole high beam system shut down with failure sometimes. To be honest, I like Genesis's corporate culture very much, but it still has a long way to go in lighting technology. Even European cars have night vision AR and early warning for pedestrians and wildlife. Even if I live in a developed city, I will still indulge in country roads at night, or take my family to the airport at night. I really need better lighting brightness, lighting width, steering assistance and night vision system. Genesis is more expensive than Audi in my country, so I have no reason to support an immature product. I will buy another car in the next few years to replace my Sonata, hoping that Genesis will make all-round progress and become a real Big Brother. 😊😊😊
