We are back! I needed a few things in the fridge but I'm still using up some freezer surpluses. I'm getting ready to start using things out of the garden too! We didn't need too much so I'm keeping that average low for the year! :D
Aww It was a great vacation but I'm glad to be back too! I don't have to wonder how the garden is doing without us! :) I'm looking forward to getting started on the next challenge and starting to harvest things from the garden! :D
Welcome back, Jessica, I’m glad that you had a great vacation and stayed healthy! I’m catching up again with videos, because I’ve been away a lot lately. I enjoyed your haul, and I must say that I was astounded at how nice all of the produce looked, considering the fact that it was a delivery! Everything they picked was in beautiful condition, which is pretty rare! I wish they had those salad toppers in my store, but I’ve never seen them!
I was REALLY happy with the quality of the delivered produce too! It seems like it's pretty hit and miss, unfortunately. I was thinking of trying to put something together from the bulk bins for those salad toppers. It'd probably be cheaper. We really enjoy how easy it is to add some crunch and variety to our salads.
I hope you had a great vacation! Under $174 a month is great for 2 people, especially since the prices in CA seem to be higher than in the states! Once we get settled in our new place in July, I’m going to start to documenting my spending. We are moving into our new travel trailer for the rest of the summer and fall which means less space so it should be interesting how I am going to manage this. But im shooting for under $225 a month including dog supplies, toiletries and paper goods. And this will include food for guests visiting for the day or weekend! We will see how it goes🤞
Our vacation was awesome! I'll be posting a few videos eventually :) That really sounds like a challenge (and also kind of fun to be living out of the trailer! I'll be loading up the camper in the next couple of weeks and starting the $21 A Week grocery challenge in it! We can share ideas! ;) That's a tight budget feeding guests too!
I am glad that you had a lovely vacation. It is amazing the difference in costs even across Canada. Living in the southeast corner of Saskatchewan we have few grocery stores to choose from and our prices are quite a bit higher than yours. Take bananas for instance we are $0.89 a pound and cucumbers are usually $1.29 on sale.
I am always surprised with the regional differences within Canada too. I can get lower prices sometimes but never from the store that will deliver to me. There are quite a few stores in my area and prices on many items can depend on which store I go to. Walmart has bananas for $.68 but their cucumbers are $1.97! I can usually get the best prices if I'm willing to go to multiple stores but that only saves me money if I'm already making the trip into town...
Of course, we do have the garden that we use for a lot of our produce throughout the year ;) I have also been trying to use up a few things in the freezers. With the pantry challenge at the beginning of the year and a two week long vacation the budget is looking very low so far!
Good luck with your avacados! 😂😂😂 I've had rotten luck with them lately. Either you blink and they have gone off, or they stay green for-frinken-ever and never ripen. I've even tried the organic one, and still they had issues. I finally gave up and just bought the little cups of guacamole. 😫
Oh no! I'm certainly no pro with avocado judgements lol I've eaten three so far just by feeling when they are slightly soft and they have been bang on ripe! Keeping my fingers crossed is my strategy with avocados haha
We did a cruise vacation with Princess Cruises. This time we didn't get sick **yay** and I did manage to capture some video and pictures of the excursions we did. I'm editing it into a video that I'm hoping to post soon. It was a Panama Canal cruise! :D
That's great Adrienne! That's $80 CAD so you're doing better than I am! We don't have Sam's Club here but if I went to Costco my budget would be in trouble lol
Hey good to hear your voice Jessica! I am wondering if you are boycotting Loblaws stores? my family is but we are finding it hard to find another place to shop apart from our local save-on-foods. It is expensive...
Oh what’s that about? I’ve been away on vacation so I’ll have to google search that! I really enjoy Freshco as a great priced alternative store if I’m close by.
