I'm a beleiver of changing the oil around first 500miles..and this would've been my second change. But what the heck do I know. It's good that your at least changing it period.
I would have done the first at 1k then at 5k then every 5k. A trusted mechanic told me that if you don't like your engine, change the oil every 10k per manufacturer's spec.
Will doin your own oil change void the warranty? I also wouldn’t go 10k for an oil change either. I’d still make a carfax maintenance submission that you changed the oil so that there’s a record of it. Are ya gonna still have dealer change oil it when it gets to 10k?
As long as you keep good records including the receipts (take pictures) you’ll be fine. It’s against the law for a dealer to deny a warranty claim simply because you did your own oil changes. Now if you use the wrong oil or the wrong oil filter, and they can prove that this damaged the engine, then they can deny a warranty claim.
@@kevinfernando3167 The 10k oil change should be free but I don’t trust the dealer with installing the dust shield back on properly. I might just do it myself again.
Any new vehicle if you change oil yourself, always use the Factory OEM oil filter for warranty purposes. Use any API synthetic oil in the recommended viscosity in the owner manual. Quaker State, Mobil 1, Pennzoil, Valvoline, Castrol, Havoline, and WalMart SuperTech synthetic is very good oil.
I was told when I bought my 2025 pilot that honda has to do the first oil change or it voids the manufacturer warranty and it's at 7500 miles and I'm a firm beliver at 3000 miles no matter what I'm at 900 miles and idk what to do afraid they be able to tell if I change it the manual recommends to leave the factory oil In it till 7500
It’s literally the law that they cannot void your warranty. It’s called the Magnuson-Moss warranty act. I do my own maintenance on my 23 civic and keep records of the services performed (receipts and pictures). Hope this helps!
