It looks better but the material quality is worse than the civic. Way more hard plastic which occasionally rattles and reflects more noise in the cabin. The grab handle is VERY cheap. The stuff you touch is still nice though.
The weird separation between the driver and passenger seat is horrible! Hyundai’s are much more expensive to insure and still have a long way to go as far as hybrid technology is concerned. Toyota hybrids have been around since 99 and have consistently maintained their performance. Aesthetically speaking, obviously one might go for the Elantra. But Corollas top everywhere else.
The lack of rear seat vents is a real disappointment. It would have made the Elantra further starnd out from the competition. I thinking it shouldn't have added that much cost?
I feel the same way! Especially for 27k. I know this model starts at 23k but even for 23,000 vents seem like a no brainer. The Elantra is very driver centric. The only thing the passengers get in a little light on the ceiling, (now you get two type c charging outlets), the cup holders (new to the SEL model) and pretty comfy seats Tbf. I do think all the room is nice as well. Vents would have been the ultimate factor for this class of cars
I like elantra. Some of the toyota cars like the camry has remained almost completely the same since the 2018 model. This looks more elegant. Only complaint is the refresh look on the front facia i don’t like much, the one before this refresh looked better in the fronts
Here are two reason for the bar: “supposedly” it makes the cabin feel more like a cockpit with the devision between the passenger and the driver. The practical reason is the lack of powered seats. If you don’t have a trim with powered seats the bar is a good anchor to hold onto and pull yourself up to adjust the seat. I have a 2023 SEL and it’s something you get used to pretty quick. I’m a huge fan of what Hyundai has been doing and I really like my Elantra but the bar being plastic and creeking as you move yourself up really reminds you that you are not really in a premium car but a great value car with some premium features tossed in
how do you like it!!?? i’m a girl and i’ve been looking at elantras for a couple years and think they cute aff (i don’t care about the speed bs that everyone complains about😩) but i want to get one in a few months!!
It’s useful for sticks. In the rest of the world where we are poor, we buy sticks and when you go fishing with a big dude to your right, whenever you shift to 3rd and 5th you hit the guy’s left knee and that’s annoying. So it’s actually a genius feature. Number one problem drivers complain here is that the ladies cannot perform certain activities with the driver anymore.
14:15 Looks good, priced right, but I can't see myself buying another sedan that doesn't have at least a liftback. Car trunks suck! Just yesterday we slid four 70lb server racks into the trunk of our SUV off a cart, and then back onto a cart at destination. Super easy with the very wide opening and flat floor right at hip level, in a sedan my back would be broken.
Just completed a highway marathon in my 2023 Elantra Hybrid - at 80 MPH I routinely got 46 MPG, at 70 and slower I got above 50 MPG average for the tank. That was common. I love the Hybrid version, and I look forward to your review of the 2024!
I just bought the limited and the fob is ugly but u can use ur phone as the key. So far I have no complaints with the car. I love it!!!!! Hyundai has the best warranty around!
I got a 2024 Elantra SEL (without conv package regrettably). I def love it tho. It’s my first new car and it’s absolutely a step up from Hyundai’s older cars
I’m glad they finally added a sunroof and rear seat cup holders on the SEL Convenience trim! Hyundai really listens to their customers! Too bad we don’t get rear air vents like the Korean market. But at least for our market, we got rear USB-C charging. But I’m kinda scratching my head on why the SEL Convenience is $1000 more than the Limited trim? And will this new refresh get wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay OTA update just like the new 2024 Santa Fe? Overall, I’m loving the new front end sleek design and upgraded technology. Definitely a contender in my book!
@@jraheemjefcoat429 ours goes Essential = SE equivalent, Preferred = SEL, Preferred Tech = SEL convenience, Ultimate = Limited and N-Line. We get robbed on our Preferred tech here, your sel convenience gets adaptive cruise, 17 inch rims, LED taillights, adjustable head rests, rear cup holders, etc. We only get all those things on our top trim and it costs more. You guys also get full LED front turn signals on every trim but we don’t even get that on our highest one it’s weird. Basically your SEL convenience is the same as our Limited without the leather seats.
Agreed. It's a nightmare. I even bought a 2,500 Platinum warrenty. The dealership actually acts as if I'm taking money OUT of their pockets when I need repair. A shame as their techs are fine the service people leave ALOT to be desired...
After doing more research on the web, I don't trust the CVT transmission in this model at all. Huyndai is have many issue with the DCT and CVT transmission. Many techs said this type of transmission won't pass 7 years. This is why the Sonata series still using 6 gears transmission type. Break down transmission would cost you way more than what you you think you can save right now.
@@jackmemphis777 I know that they are different. What I try to say is since Elantra convert from gears transmission to DVT then CVT, both of these types of transmission are junk. You can find out more info at the Consumer Reports site
I love the Elantras. I have the 2018 Value Edition and I'll have it for longer since I'm not buying a new Elantra with that non sense column in the passenger seat. Also, that thing with no function on the left of the instrument panel, why, why, WHY they keep it from 2021/2022/2023?
@@chonghwang8028 yeah I really like the grab handle in the center. It gives it a cockpit feel and the passenger seat is really comfy and feels enclosed in a good way. Its a lot better than the Kona or Venue where the passengers legs can potentially go into the cupholder area
Everything we see on the video except the powertrain. I hope Hyundai give the Elantra/Niro hybrid the Sonata powertrain to keep up with the Prius for the next generation. The Soul and Venue could use the 1.6l hybrid to justify their existence and the Sonata can use the 1.6l turbo hybrid from the Tucson/Sportage.
@@JT-fq2bl I wish they'd use that turbo hybrid in more vehicles. In Korea, Hyundai uses it in the Grandeur/Azera and Kia uses it in the K8/Cadenza, so sedan applications are definitely possible.
How is the 2021 hybrid feel when going uphill? I just like to know if the 1.6L engine is strong enough going uphill. Please share your thought. Thank you
@@atadikohp9308it has plenty of power going uphill. We have gone a few times to the mountains in NC and Tennessee. We averaged around 55mpg driving through there over a day of driving.
The Venue and Kona are super uncomfortable. I bought a 24 Kona SEL at the beginning of the year and I only had it for 3 months before trading it in for the 24 Elantra N-line. The Elantra is so much more comfy than the Kona and Venue. Its not even close. The elantra has way better seating position, foot position and arm rest locations (plus arm rests are rubberized up front versus the Kona and Venue having hard plastic arm rests)
Had a 2013 Hyundai Elantra. It crapped out at 150,000 miles unfortunately. This looks nice but I’ll take my 2023 Toyota Corolla since it’ll blow this cars lifespan by twice the mileage most likely
Is it a nice upgrade from the last version, but I feel they did not correct the three most polarizing issues.....The door "dent", the grab handle, and the goofy circle to the left of the steering wheel.
Elantra SELs are selling pretty good. But in my opinion, sonatas are ugly cars. The 2015-2020 were really good looking. I used to hate how the Elantras looked, but ever since the 2021 redesign I loved it. I actually just bought a brand new 2023 Elantra. I never thought I’d be driving one,but my last car was a 2020 Kia optima and I decided I wanted to stay in the Kia/hyundai family
Looks good however, it is a different 2.0 lt compared with earlier Elantrs, before this CN7 generation. In Australia, we don't get the IVT as Hyundai calls them we get the Sorts Sequentai 6-speed auto which is a far stronger and robust unit. Fuel economy for us is 5.6 litres on highway and 7.6 city giving my Elantra or i30 sedan as we call them, 6.4 litres combined cycle. 50mpg highway, 37mpg city and 44mpg combined. These are great cars as you show but one thing is that the US-built versions suffered from pure quality control in the manufacturing of the drive trains. Ijn Australia our come from South Korea. The quality is excellent. Our version is what's called the Avante Elite in Korea. O-60mph for our versions, non-turbo is 7.9. The 6-speed gives good economy and performance. You guys do a great job on reviews and you can see you really enjoy what you do. Keep it up. Ps, I just thought you might like a perspective from other countries to show how these differ around the world.
the 24 Elantra now has rubberized arm rests in the front. While they arent perfect, they are way more comfortable than the hard plastic. The 24 Kona has hard plastic arm rests and I hated it after driving it for 3 months
I have a 2022 Hybrid Blue model. In this base model, the driver’s seat has manual height adjustment. I think the SEL had electric controls. The grab bar mostly interferes with the driver’s access to the passenger foot area. I like to put groceries and fast food on the passenger floor and that bar is an aggravation.
