I was hoping that Mark would drop the act by at least the 8-minute mark, but Jack's "you fucking asshole" gave me a genuine chuckle. Wish Jack had more opportunities to talk because I do genuinely want his opinion (e.g., on how this car would look a couple years down the line as a used grab). Because of the goofing, I feel I have to watch another review to get a fuller picture.
Being real, aside from looks its basically a larger Ioniq 5 which is a great first real attempt at an electric car. We both enjoyed almost every aspect of it aside from cold battery range degradation. I personally had to take the oppurtunity to showcase the self serious marketing they use to highlight the stupidity and disconnect of current online culture.
Wife has an Ioniq 5. The recycled plastic in her car is not durable and therefore not child friendly. I’ve heard that in general Hyundai has been replacing some early cars interiors that suffer from this. As we have children we haven’t tested if the seats are resistant to “couple fun times” as we don’t do that anymore. We know the consequences.
You'd think given how low the birth rate is in Korea, they would be promoting having sex in the back of the car, but nooooo, it's gotta be the meta verse instead
What the Hell is up with that marketing campaign??? I kept thinking the actual commercial was a joke by savagegeese, but no. It's the actual marketing campaign😂
@@El_NaphtaliHey, those little kids in Africa mining cobalt with their bare hands need a job. So elite-minded 32 year olds can feel good about saving the environment.
I think like most of us, he's just at a breaking point with how he views the auto industry lately and maybe is genuinely questioning the point of it all anymore. We all see where things are going. The advertising shtick by Hyundai tells you everything you need to know.
For those that haven’t seen the Hyundai marketing video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GVcXwIL9OFw.htmlsi=XRNNsn1Td3Ugk026 Mia’s bit starts at 2:25.
Part of me was like, come on, Marc, you don’t have to make a mockery of this entire thing. But the more I thought about Hyundai writing, directing and filming, and producing that marketing reel, they deserve all the mark smoke they get
The marketing for this car is just utterly baffling, I’m so glad I never saw any ads for it. Excellent video as always, though. Loved the Metaverse clowning. 😂 But absurd sales pitch aside, I have to agree with Jack, it is a good car for what it is. Good enough for me to be leasing one, anyways. Good thing I searched up reviews before the marketing material. After 3K miles, I can comfortably say that it’s its an excellent daily driver and very comfortable, though I must specify that I’m down in Florida, so I don’t have to deal with a lot of the cold-related issues others do where vehicles like this are concerned.
It’s like the Chevy volt. The auto industry is intentionally sabotaging these affordable electric econoboxes because they want to sell the consumer zombies more $90k yank tanks with their ridiculous profit margins and exemptions from emissions standards.
I can envision the writing session for this video went like this - Mark "Hyundai sent me this marketing packet and it doesnt even talk about the car its just metaverse b***s***" Jack "I can probably talk to some engineers and.." Mark "No. I will give them the metaverse coverage they asked for"
This was a really comprehensive review of IONIC 6, filled with nuance and minutia that painted a full perspective on the engineering decisions and market position of this electric automobile. The camera work and voice over were pleasant and clear, without being fatiguing. Only savagegeese would be able to provide such prophetic impressions on a vehicle, it would not be overstating to say that their reviews are simply: Best in class.
Hunter S. Thompson thought there was nothing more depraved than an ether binge, but death saved him from hitting a new rock bottom with metaverse degeneracy
I am not an EV guy, But I like money. Work offers free charging. If I found an EV for $0 down and sub $250 a month, that's what I spend on gas to get to work. Free car! What about insurance? Well my Blackwing as a DD, $2150 a year. Grundy would allow it as a collector policy for $350 only if I added another DD-an EV like this was $1800. Free car. I managed to get an AWD SEL this weekend, $50,350 MRP for $239 a month, $0 down(+plates since I had none to transfer), 12k miles a year. This thing is nicer, faster, handles better than it needed it to be for the appliance I asked it to be. Free maintenance and free charging at Electrify America. So many rebates on a home charger install-that was free too. They said the days of cheap leases were gone. Well, this car is the exception. I am not an SUV guy, if you hate the way this looks, I sent two friends to the same dealer for an Ioniq 5 SEL AWD which was the same deal but for $281 a month.
wow this 50-60 thousand dollar EV is so life changing, i'll go out and buy one tomorrow. Cant wait to lose 50% in depreciation rolling off the hyundai lot
I can't wait to swoop these up on facebook marketplace for 50% off msrp to get you out of your upside down loan! Genuinely though the price is abhorrent. Even cheapo gas cars are 30k these days.
@@pk4459 Ah yes, the average EV's are not better for the environment than ICE moron. Just because the depreciate a lot doesn't mean that you can't use them for 10+ years
[Camera cut to the trunk.] Mark voiceover: “and I can still fit all my friends.”] 😂 All electricity for filming and editing this video was generated by sustainable humor.
This is the best review ever. It sustained my attention for so long! And every time I spit my food from laughter, I was about to reuse and recycle it after.
A car review as art. Stunning! Not sure new viewers will get it. I have 9k miles on my 2023 Ioniq 5 LTD. May 1 to Feb 28 average MPK is 3.2 in upstate NY. Except for a trunk lid rattle the car has been perfect.
Ok, its been a while since this level of savegery 😂, last I recall was the Bentley gold chain lol. The mannequin and vr goggle talk with Jack had me dying...🤣🤣
UK viewer here, of all your videos this one cracked me up the most!!!!! I've driven the Ioniq 6 and was relatively impressed. We need a family EV purchased through the company but the biggest issue with most of the GIMP platforms is the lack of boot/trunk space for a family. We set out wanting to buy a top spec Ioniq 5, we were impressed but did not like a few elements and the lack of boot/trunk space. Also get good fleet terms on the Lexus RX but your video confirmed my suspicions! So what are we probably going to buy, a year old Jaguar I Pace for less than the new price of a top spec Ioniq. Yes its an older platform, but the driving dynamics, quality of the interior and the boot/trunk space are actually superior, range is also `OK ish. Also the Ian Callum Styling has aged well. Charging solely at home overnight at 7.5KW so the 100KW limit seems largely irrelevant. The money we save on local journeys will help to fuel a couple of other V8's we have..... 🙂
A very very honest comment for Mark. The videos that you are presenting alone with your unique sense of humor is extremely more interesting even if it is about a trash can!
I had fun with the insanely ridiculous marketing and mocking of it as well as the glitches and bugs of modern society, but I think Mark kind of dragged it out too much in my opinion. I hope i don't come across as the fun police, but all of the insight and critical thinking that's brought forth in the vast majority of your videos really made me excited to hear what y'all had to think. More beyond the "ya it's pretty much an electric Hyundai" at the end. At the end of the day, I can't really complain too much about free content
Savage Geese goes way beyond the superficial ‘’ Oh I like this crease in the hood” POV car review. They are one of the best in depth car reviews and I always regard them highly.
I can’t recall the last time I laughed this much watching a car review (of a car I have no interest in buying, but it’s Savagegeese content, so one ought to watch it). Bravo 👏 sir
I’ll always say it. The best Hyundai vehicle they make is the Hyundai TransLead ThermoTech Reefer Semi-Trailer. 53’ feet long, 12K lb curb weight without the reefer unit. Probably 14K with it. Beautiful and smooth driving machine. Well balanced, I can scale 44K lbs of chicken tenders with ease. They’re a thing of pure automotive craftsmanship, and I get semi-erected every time I get the luxury of hooking up to one
I'm not sure I buy the range complaints. I have an SEL RWD here in the states and even in the colder months I've been able to get about 180 - 200 miles from an 80% charge. When I first drove it in Aug/Sep, I was averaging around 320 - 360 miles from a full charge.
Try carsifi android wireless adapter, turns any wired AA into wireless and this lil dongle has memory for 2 connected devices and a button to switch between em on the go and it can also force head unit to run at higher DPI resolution. Used it for a year between the cars i have and it worked really well. No support for carplay tho but we dont have any apples around so not a big deal.
These guys always nail it, especially when it comes to culture alongside a car. I for one, will always want to engage with my car in the tactile driving experiences , but for many in the younger gen, cars are a burden of financial necessity that are almost becoming non-sequitur to their everyday personas and routines. We may giggle at the rideshare comment, but that alone is a worrying truth that is coming to fruition. Buying or leasing a car, spending $50K on a depreciating asset where many people will find it to be an appliance that has no emotion is a tough reality, and now that we as a society are immersed in a new world of AI and virtual realities of our own making, cars fitting into that realm remains a "?" in new ways we've barely tapped into. We may laugh at this video, but for many, this is the new "normal" when it comes to modern mobility. Mark and Jack make it clear that automakers and the driving public simultaneously do and do not know where our priorities really are.
