We, my wife and I, just bought the Preferred LR RWD version. Although we had it for only three weeks now, we love it. We test drove both the Ioniq 5 and 6 before buying and we were surprised that we both enjoyed driving the Ioniq 6 while not really the Ioniq 5. We are both 60 years old. We now leave Dodge in the winter. So, no need for us to get the AWD version, and carry around the extra weight with less range. We don’t need to do wheelies anymore. So, that version has plenty enough power. As for the $6,000-plus-tax Ultimate package, we just couldn’t justify it to ourselves. Sure, there are some extra bells and whistles, but we don’t need the sun roof anymore and the standard sound system on the RWD model is good enough. Sooo, the RWD model of the car is a great value for money with a $12,000 remittance from both the Feds and our own provincial government. A great buy, in our book.

Agreed 👍. It's a great all around car. I'm very impressed with how far it can travel on one charge.

Thanks for all the great information. I try to drive efficiently in my 11 month old rwd long range I6. My projected range well exceeds 400 miles. This is an astonishing car.

I was amazed at how much range I could get even at highway speeds! Aerodynamics make a huge difference.

Love your review. Nice to see someone reviewing the base model. BTW, in Australia the base-model Ioniq 6 RWD with the 18" wheels has a lot of features that you seem to only get in the higher models - automatic wipers, automatic lights. and auto-dipping, head-up display, full adaptive cruise with lane-follow, as well as the BOSE speaker system, and the WLTP range figure is 614km. No heated steering wheel though, but in our climate a cooled steering wheel would be far more useful. Snow driving is almost never an issue here, but I want to tow a camper-trailer so the added range means that with the aero-loss of towing I can still get about 300-350km of towing range.
@livewirereview
@livewirereview 3 месяца назад
@petesig93 That is all very true! My favourite feature here is the heated steering wheel but it makes sense why you wouldn't need that!

I was excited when I learned the Ioniq 6 used a heat pump since I came from a plug in hybrid that used resistive heating and lost like 20% battery due to resistive heating.
@livewirereview
@livewirereview Месяц назад
@robsquared2 at least it had a heater! The Hyundai/Kia plug in hybrids only use the engine for heat... even though they have the best heat pump technology in their EVs!

So if this were to be my first EV, which one would you recommend the 5 or the 6. I live in New York. The winters have been mild lately. I have done some research on EV's and it is a little confusing. Thanks.

kool car,, sat in one a while back,, they need to lower their prices like tesla did thou,,, least 5k
@livewirereview
@livewirereview 5 месяцев назад
You're right on the $$$! This car was significantly lower priced than Tesla and other competitors when it came out and offered more for that money. However, now with recent price drops and more competition, it is a little higher in the price bracket than it could be. Thanks for the comments!

hey guys. nice work. suggesting a few other elements: - ground clearance - maybe adding an empty baggage to provide a practical demonstration if it can fit or not - stating your height also can help to illustrate actually if a “tall” person can fit comfortably. - a summary on screen of main technical features of the automobile (usable battery size, HP and torque figures, dimension, trim model ) - the shots by the lake wouldn’t hurt to show the turning lights blinking :) - those shots from underneath the car AMAZING thanks for sharing. - the difference between the i5 and i6 didn’t know there were two loops of liquid and down to one in the i6. cool. - 1700 watts in V2L. cool. is there any other plug inside the car? maybe in another trim? - passthrough console ? - can you summon it in tight parking spaces ?

These are amazing suggestions. I'll be writing these down and putting them into a format. It's funny. This is the first video that I haven't stated: "I'm 6'1" tall". We usually skip a lot of these in the essence of time, but this video ended up on the long side. Your suggestions will make for a smoother and more articulate review. Thanks again!

I love hyundai's electric cars so much... I want one but at fhe same time i want a ioniq 5 and a Kona 2024 😂

I'm with you! The IONIQ 5 has more utility but less range. Check out the review here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l0tYphYDgys.html The 2024 Kona has the same storage space as a 2015 Tucson. But it takes 43 min at a fast charger instead of 18 min in the IONIQ series of vehicles. They also removed V2L at the last minute from the Kona. Can you leave or keep the option preconditioning on 24/7 like when driving, running the A/C , heater, charging. Etc?
@livewirereview
@livewirereview 2 месяца назад
The preconditioning is for when you have to fast charge the battery. So you would turn it on when you're navigating to a fast charger. There is an option for winter mode, which will also warm the battery. I recommend leaving this feature turned off. You can program the car to be preconditioned and warm inside while plugged into the charger at your house, which will make it more efficient when you go to drive it.

Ty for the nice thorough review video. For the value i would stick to Tesla. plus FSD is second to none. I traded last month my Hyundai Palisade for a model S, and never looked back. no comparisons. It drove me a40 miles each way to work last week, without any single intervention, made driving so much easier and stress free.

I flip flopped between the model 3 and the hyundai but having no local Tesla dealer was a concern and the looks of the 6 over the 3 sold it. Glad you're having a great experience with the 3. More EV's on the road the better!
