The reviewer stated that the 11kW AC inverter would charge from 10 to 100% in about 5 1/2 hours, whilst true, in the UK, most AC chargers, such as those at home and at many hotels are 7.2kW, so charging 10 to 100% will take around 7 1/2 hours. The 11Kw AC inverter is designed for European use where 11kW is more normal, so great for European holidays. Most charging away from home will be using DC where, as stated a 10 - 80% charge will take 35 - 40 minutes - or about the same time as it takes for a toilet break and to pick up some food and drink.

Typical home chargers are 7.4kW in the UK. It is possible to have an 11kW or even a 22kW charger at home but it requires that your electricity supply is a 3-phase supply which can be added retrospectively (at a cost of course).

Please could you tell me if the electric Kona makes a noise to warn people and animals of its approach.I lease a motability kona that makes no noise does the new models make a noise. The old car is great but no noise is the breaker for me.

There is no mention of it on the spec sheet And we ordered the n line s ev yesterday ( same top level tech as the ultimate) and while I didn't drive it, there was no mention of a " moving noise" from the salesman.

It's the "Ultimate", the only one with a sunroof.

I've got the 17 inch wheels and fully charged it won't show more than 290 miles and that's with the extended battery, love the car but the battery on the motorway goes down alot faster than you think

I really like this, but as a Kia owner of 10 years im torn between a Level 3 Niro or the N Line Kona 🤔

The car design fits really well with European background than Korea 😅

The "old" model has electrical issues with battery drain. This completely locks the car down and requires a dealer. So wait for reviews before going for the new model in case it was just a facelift

Totally different car, this one is on the new e-GMP platform (as per Ioniq5/6)

Good video, but just a small correction. The latest KONA is not e-GMP. It is on the K3 platform that it shares with the latest Niro. The e-GMP has an 800v system that allows for the faster charging. The KONA is like most EV’s and is a 400V system. I actually think it drives nicer than the IONIQ 5, but that’s my opinion.

Updates fixed the battery issue for me

The Battery drain was for the 12v battery and was caused by a load of Konas manufactured in 2019 with the boot not closing properly so that one of the car's computers didn't shut down. The fix was as simple as putting a couple of turns into the rubberised blocks that the boot rests against when closed. A stupid mistake and one that cost Hyundai a few thousand warranty replaced 12v batteries. It "locked the car down" because the 12v battery is used to close the circuit breakers from the 400v battery to the inverter, thus dead 12v = dead car. The solution at the time was a jump start and then leaving the car "running" for 40 minutes to fully charge the battery, followed by a visit to the dealer to find out how damaged the 12v battery was. In short, this could have happened to any modern car, it just happened to be this one.
