Very useuful information, thanks! Another concern - Will it be safe to walk around Gothenburg at evenings? Which areas should I as a tourist avoid? Due to the rise of criminal activites in Sweden and Gothenburg overall seems like a very changed city today from when i visited for the world cup in 1981 and 2002. Thanks.

Thank you. I believe one can feel safe in Gothenburg. If one is generally attentive, they can navigate through all parts of the city. Personally, as someone who lives and moves around in the city, I do not see the image that the media portrays, and neither do others I know. While there are, of course, individuals who commit crimes in Gothenburg, what is often reported in international media are the serious crimes affecting a small group of people who are in conflict and have drawn the attention of the police. Typically, only these individuals themselves are affected. Therefore, my perception is that you don't need to worry and are just as welcome as in 1981 and 2002.
