A tradition unlike any other: Back Home Again in Indiana at the Indianapolis 500. Jim Cornelison returned to perform the beloved song before the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge.
This year was my first Indy 500 and I drove all the way up from Texas that night to watch it. 18 hours, stayed up a total of 36 hours just to watch the race (Woke up Noon Saturday, went to bed Midnight Sunday). Hearing Back Home Again, hearing the taps, ***feeling*** the flyover and watching one of the best 500s in history for the first time live was an unforgettable experience. I've already got tickets for next year and I'm gonna try and rope some friends into joining me. If you can go, GO! It's a beautiful experience.
Same exact situation for me, drove 16 hours from Texas Saturday and honestly told myself after I’d never do that drive again, after the race was I already planning to go next year. It definitely is the greatest spectacle in racing. I come back to this and the final lap video like every other day waiting to go back again lol.
Yeah we had to wait a while this year but the pageantry and the flyovers…everything it symbolizes as a Hoosier and an American. Nothing like it. It is the Greatest Spectacle of Racing
@@ParkerTolin You did notice that the Thunderbirds kept flying during the Pandemic, while for a while, the Blue Angels were not allowed to. You want to know why? Good, I'll tell you. The Blue Angels flew to close together, so the didn't meet the 6 foot separation rule. All kidding aside, both teams are outstanding aviators, and both services and all Americans should be very proud of them.
@@johnjones5354 funny 😂yeah big fan of both the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels. Although, I get the feeling the Thunderbirds kept flying cuz they couldn’t keep something so incredibly outta the skies 😝 Jokes 🫡🇺🇸
Though this tradition repeats itself every year, it's just ain't the same without the balloon release which is another Indy 500 tradition which was got rid of due to environmental reasons along with other traditions in sports that involves balloons. I'm okay with a second flyover, but it isn't the same
