Looks like your project is moving along! It really surprises me that there is only 4 bolts holding the bunks on to the plate! Guess the engineers have it all figured out! Keep up the good work! Talk soon!
There are a lot of ways people set up their trucks, this way seems to work for me. I've changed it each truck it seems like trying a new way. Thanks for watching
All of your videos are very informative and enjoyable to watch. Keep them coming and I’ll watch them all. I like all your attention to detail you put into your truck builds it not only works great but, looks awesome going down the road. Are you planning to do a video on a new log trailer? Again, I really like the Kermit green with the Sandune white great choice.🌲💚
Thanks for the nice words Cody. I think the green and white will look good also, excited to get some stuff painted. Yes, got a new trailer details to come. Thanks for the continued support
I used 7018 welding rod, always seems like a good all purpose rod. These bunks are made by Hassell Manufacturing, they are from Ashland Oregon and have been making log bunks since the 1950's. They have a website with all their products if you want to check them out. hassellmanufacturing.com I think. I like the style of the bunks they build. There are other makers as well, General Trailer in Oregon, Whit-log, Van Raden and a few more. These bunks are 102 inches wide by 64 inch tall stakes. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
This is already a sweet build! Looking forward to seeing all of it! Is that an old cab Iam seeing in the background? Do us viewers have a restomod build to look forward too?
Yes, that's the cab from my Brownie project, a 1986 Kenworth W900 that I've been slowly rebuilding. Goot to get this truck done so I can get back to working on it. Thanks for watching.
Any idea what the going rate is for Whit-Log or the others to put bunks on a truck for you? Always appreciate a guy who does it himself. Saves money and you can set it up how you want and know every nut and bolt is good, cause your turned 'em! Looking good sir!
I'm not sure what they charge to put a truck together. The only thing I heard is that they are very busy, like a good 6 months out to get it done. Thanks for watching.
I bought a steel cab guard from General Trailer out of Springfield Oregon. I like the style they make. Hopefully get a video on that in the next couple weeks. Thanks for watching.
New sub i just stumbled upon your channel. Very smart installing bunk gear and headache rack yourself. It seem like whit log and general/peerless trailer Peterson and better weigh are all about a year out to have them set em up. Is your truck bunk and cab guard/headache rack Hassel or other mfg? And non of this is boring buy the way. I believe my Oregon 5 axle bunk is 8 ahead. I cant remember but soon will be putting new frame rails on my 2000 w900l with c16 18 speed or possibly just put the engine trans In a 1976 pete 359 as well as my bunks cab guard and 1995 peerless trailer on. Good job your trucks beautiful
Welcome Mike and Thanks for subbing. I heard that all the builders are way out, it's good and bad, nice to see the demand for log equipment. Cab guard I got from General Trailer, bunks are Hassell. Re railing a W900L sounds like a good time good luck with that project. Thanks for watching
Thanks for the good luck I'm going to need it. Progressive insurance company is trying sweep me under the rug and pay less then half the value of my truck and not enough to buy another tractor so I gotta fix it myself or put new heart in my old 76 peterbilt. It would be awesome with tuned up c16 with turbo and injector upgrades, HD 18 speed and ag460 8 bag suspension and 46k rear with lockers. I'm not letting the insurance company keep and sell it. It's engine is worth the money they offered. It's painful to know how dirty insurance company this accident had cost me over $150,000 with full coverage insurance. It's not really full coverage when you ask for full coverage commercial million dollar policy. It's 1 million dollar liability insurance with comp and collision somehow towing is on there but rental reimbursement and down the customer MUST specify that they want the extra and they pick a states amount value way under its current market value as well and don't say a word but heavin forbid your premium payment 1 day late they are calling before the days end. I never wanted to get rich being an owner operator and l knew I wouldn't get rich. I wanted to drive and maintain my own truck and fix stuff needing fixed and preventative maintenance because I have had issues with some employers that won't fix thing's until it's broken in the highway and a little extra money to comfortably raise my family and apparently our insurance companies don't think like it. It's hard enough with the cost of trucks and parts, fuel bill, insurance premiums tire bill and while I'm still trying to decently settle with insurance company the crooks have taken $1200 out of my bank 3 months in a row while my truck sits in am IAA lot with my trailer still on the back bunked up for the morning. Mt trailer was supposed to be delivered early Nov and had a fella that I was going to lease it so he could fix up his trailer up and use mine for a small bi-weekly fee so I've lost out on that because they won't bring it back and they know I can't tow it that far home with my kenworth undriveable. But I'm not letting progressive ruin my dreams. With or without an attorney I'll be hauling logs with my truck. I'm very mechanically inclined
Another question on your bunk bolster bolts that go into scale pads them selvs have you ever heard of slotting from center of the bolt hole out to relieve it so the dont crack? I have seen some like that and have welded up mine lots of times
No sir she just keeps getting put on the back burner. I've been gathering some pieces for it and been struggling with some of the fiberglass repairs. I need to do an update on it. Thanks for asking.
