2024 Knitting Goals & Intentions 

I just want to say that I love watching your videos! I watch them while I knit, so it’s like having a friend who also loves to knit with me (: never feel like you have to do the hot new thing, bc we’re all here because we like you! Happy knitting! 🩷

I really like your mindful reflections for future projects and things you cast on and you’re willing to finish. Especially when it comes to yarn decisions and patterns. In our times we live in, that’s an important point to think about awareness in terms of sustainability

You are enough and your knitting is enough. Thank youfor your podcasts, honesty and sharing your creativity.

I really enjoy your “think” pieces and pattern reviews just as much as your “object production” pieces. My mind thinks in a similar way. I love analysis. I’m a 60-year old knitter. I have dabbled in, and love trying, many different types of crafts. This year I decided to really hone one craft - knitting! I’m pursuing my knitting teacher certification through the Craft Yarn Council and inching toward the TKGA Master Handknitting Program. I look forward to joining you on your knitting journey.

I totally felt that when you talked about being enough with our crafts. 😊

I love the idea of achievable goals! One of my goals this year is also to reduce my yarn stash (along with expanding my knitting skills), and in order to achieve it I’ve set a few “boundaries”. The first one is to buy yarn for a project I’ve already got some yarn for, for example buy the mohair to pair with the merino, which I’ve already got in stash. Another is I’m allowed to buy yarn if I’m somewhere on holiday and it’s unique yarn, for example if I’m in Germany and I get some special and unique German wool I can’t get here in Denmark. I’m not going to give myself a buying ban, as that just doesn’t work. And lastly I will - like you - attempt to only buy yarn in store and not online, which will force me to really think about why I need to buy the yarn 😊

great video, I am happy to see the moderate tone in various areas...I completely agree.

Skill extending is my main goal this year. I’ve really wanted to master colour work as there are so many pretty traditional Norwegian patterns I’d love to make. My first project was a jumper for a family member who is 4 and it worked up beautifully! There are a few things I want to improve, but it was a great first project.

I think you are right on time...I think you have to first feel how the new year feels like before you can make your new to do list for this year❤

our gauge stuff sounds the same so here are 2 tips: SIZE UP 1 full needle size for your colorwork (and consider a colorwork ring if you knit continental?) AND SIZE DOWN 1 needle size for brioche, maybe even 2 for an Andrea Mowry Pattern : )

“Soft frameworks” is a very useful framing, for knitting and beyond.

I also want to weigh in on the opinion of not expanding crafts on this. I feel like a lot of' KnitTube-ers are doing spinning now. To be honest, I really don't care about spinning or purchases made for spinning - that's usually my jump up point in videos. Luckily it's mostly placed at the later half of videos 😂 I'm ALL IN for the garment and accessories knitting and some crocheting!!

Ha! It’s never going to happen and I mean it in the nicest way… you have vendors gifting yarn to you so that you’ll advertise as well as becoming an ambassador for that other company. Mine is out of control but the worst thing is,is that styles have changed. Bulky knits we’re in during the early 2000s but I do have a lot of different cottons, and cheap yarn, and baby yarn as well as a ton of worsted like Debbie bliss donegal tweed oh my gosh I bought a ton. But I was working at a hospital in Michigan that had a shopping concourse and there was a knit shop but after several years closed down so every week they dropped yarn by q0% so I was getting stuff 70-80% off. So in my art studio I have a loft of big transparent totes storing all my yarn. I used to have a yarn room and it sat on big shelves that went to the ceiling, and around the room under windows but yarn gets dusty and dirty fast so I shook it all out and placed it on totes with notes on the side to know what is in them. But I’m 62 now and don’t think I could knit it all up, so eventually I will sell a lot of it or give it away. I wish I had less now because I have so many sweater quantities of bulky yarn. So I say good luck to you! The one good thing about all of my yarn is that it is my 401k of yarn so if I don’t have money I still have yarn. But I just bought a ton of dk weight. I have a lot of baby knits to knit by May when my daughter in law has her shower!

Can you do a video on your favorite yarn stores. I plan on going to Ontario to visit family and it would be cheaper for me to get yarn there than in the US

I hear you for your intentions, especially for knitting swatches. I have some yarn that I spent a small fortune on that is just sitting here and I am so afraid to swatch it because, I just did a Musselburgh hat and I didn’t make it long enough and I am so afraid that will happen with this yarn for my sweater. And my hat I tried to make sure it was going to fit every inch of the way and it didn’t. So if I can do such a small project and can’t make it work what will I be doing with this yarn for my sweater? I hope to get over this soon.
