The fault is lexus, i mean the rcf, gsf is500, basically most of their f type performance v8 sedans and coupe are no different from each other, the rcf track edition cost above $100k and doesn't compete with vehicles in its price point, the fact that the rcf track edition is even slower than the gr Corolla and the civic type r on the lightening lap is kinda weird for a vehicle of that price tag the rcf track edition makes the is500 a value for its money, they both have closely the same 0-60 and 1/4mile numbers, also for their horsepower figures they qre putting out, they are a bit slow for those performance numbers. Only if lexus decides to make a change and stop recycling old powertrains

@@Investor_philipsi’d much rather have recycled proven drivetrain than whatever the hell the germans make. It took BMW a very long time to start making decent motors, lets thank toyota for that. Lexus products where i reside last quite a while, can’t say the same in regards of other luxury brands

@@zhila5958 that's where the problem lies, making recycled powertrains in a performance vehicle that will cost double it's price but instead of it to compete with vehicles in it's price range it will get blown by vehicles that cost less, this is why the rcf and GSF didn't sell well because there are better vehicles for the money

I went to the Lexus dealership near my house thinking of getting ES hybrid. I test drove it, loved it but also asked to test drive both RZ450 and IS350 F Sport, thinking that the salesperson would think I’m not set on ES yet. I immediately fell in love with IS and bought it on the next day. I have no regrets and it’s blasting to drive daily.

You will still see these on the road in 10+ years. These are great cars and if you are in the market to purchase something that is luxuries and sporty this should be high on your list.

I heard from one of the other channels that this chassis is built on the late GS platform. Which I think makes sense and explains why they were able to drop that sweet V8 goodness in there without widening the body not much more than a few centimeters than the 300/350. So in a way, you can say the GS sort of lives on in this car.

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. I don't know why Lexus underplayed the GS connection. When this came out it was criticized as just a heavy refresh. But having owned the previous one and now this one, I noticed right away there was a significant difference in ride quality. I chalked it up to all the suspension tuning that was done, but now knowing that it was the previous GS platform things make a lot more sense for the jump in refinement...

Negative that channel must have mistakenly said that ..all IS have been built on it’s own platform…the GS have always have its own platform also..the only car that had a mixture of platforms made is the RC not the IS

@@damonsta80not true. Both IS 3 gen. XE30 and GS 4 gen. L10 were built on the same platform called Toyota New N platform. Previously IS 2 gen., GS 3 gen. and LS 4 gen. were also built on the same Toyota N platform. It’s a modular platform so wheelbase can be different on different models.

Just some thoughts: love the look of this car inside and out. It’s as beautiful now as it’s always been. I’ve owned three RCs now, and buy those only because I prefer the two-door version of an IS. As far as the IS is concerned, it has so much more style and character to me than an equivalent 3 Series, A4, or C Class. It’s a matter of personal taste, but look and feel of an IS is just so much more elegant to me. Honestly, what’s to hate about it? I wouldn’t claim the competitors have bragging rights even if they do appear better on paper. As far as the turbo four, I had one in my first RC 200t. It’s alright. It’s smooth and competent. It gets the job done. MPGs aren’t too bad, but no, it’s not a competitor in MPG or performance. You’ll get toasted at a stop light. I wouldn’t buy another Lexus with the turbo four if I could help it, but it also wouldn’t be untenable. My current and last RC have the lovable 3.5, and you can’t go back once you’ve had this. But, I think the pool of buyers for Lexus is larger than most would realize. I know people in their 20’s and 30’s driving an IS 350 who want performance, and, no joke, I know a couple in their mid 80’s who own an IS 300 who just want a classy, small sedan. Different needs; different priorities. Overall, I think the bitches and gripes about the IS, and most Lexus products, are coming from the brand making so few changes to their models from year to year. Lexus does seem to resist change, if I’m being fair lol, but it is what it is, and they still make one of the best brands on the road.

all of these IS models last for a long time ive had my is since 2016 no issues whatsoever its regular oil change sparkplug change and any fluid maintenance rotors/brake change and tires thats it the regular maintenance and it last forever , they are built to perfection is the reliability aspect

Have a 2010 IS 350 and it still runs great. Aside from oil and brake changes, only major thing I've had to do was switch out the alternator, but alternators aren't mean to last for the life of the car.

I actually wanted one for a year or two, but I always waited to see what they would do with their interior as I hate the trackpad system and the gear lever. The 350 is a very good value as you said and probably the one I would get for a fun daily.

Another one of the finest videos you make. That 3.5L V6 makes one of the best induction noises I have ever heard. This lexus vehicles must be test driven to be understood. There is just something about this IS350 that gives me joy. One thing I have realized is that it has to be an F-Sport model for you to get the full experience. From South Africa

@@grandmastagrimm8773 depends most people aren’t car reviewers and want a spec sheet rocket that pins them in their seat because most people have never had that experience and really want that. To those people I def recommend the M340i, get your experience as it’s easily the quickest in its class and once the novelty wears out, you can come back to vehicles like this that don’t loose their luster after 6 months of driving, you can continue to enjoy something like an IS for a longer period of time.

This vehicles are to be appreciated, i tell you. It’s very difficult to convince most people against the Germans and I not going to try. The M340i is great on paper and it pushes you in your seat, but the experience doesn’t last long. Try this Vehicles and you will not regret.

My GS 350 has the same engine and induction noise and it sounds really throaty and aggressive for a V6. The same V6 in an ES 350 or RX 350 sounds no where near as good.

I went from a 2021 IS 350 to a 2023 IS 500. I think that, with either engine, it's a left-field option in the segment. It doesn't get the best fuel economy or have the best performance stats, but it looks fantastic and has a bit more of a sporty-feeling cabin than the competitors, particularly the seats. I think it's a shame Lexus didn't do more to update it over the years, but at the same time, most of the things this lacks over the competition are not important if I am being honest. HUD? Eh, pass. Wireless CarPlay? Would be nice, but not a huge deal. But what it does have is solidity and a sense of quality to everything. I would rather have that on my long road trip than a massive digital dash. Besides, now I am rocking the 500 and am so glad I did. I had considered the M340i briefly as an alternative, but I love the V-8 and the way the IS looks. I honestly don't know what I'll replace this car with. It is pretty much everything I want in a sort-of-daily driver.

@@grandmastagrimm8773 Depends bro, naturally aspirated engine always have a spot in my heart and that v8 in the is500 is just sweet. and it's a lexus as well it's gonna hold value like crazy, i've seen 2015 rcf with like 100k miles and was sold for 40k. For the interior stuff and the hud and all that, honestly for wireless carplay you can get an after market wireless dongle that works perfectly fine ( i have one been using for over a year connect in about 6 seconds or so after the car start. Interior lighting ( LED fiber strip installed by myself with flush OEM looks I took off all the door panels and main panels ). Other than that it's a sweet car, lexus or toyota in general they really nail it with all the small details and refinement.

@grandmastagrimm8773 The BMW is great, but like I said, the styling and the V-8 engine in the IS won me over. My wife's last car was a 2021 330i, so I'm familiar with the 3er. It was, frankly, fantastic, but it was pretty numb and also didn't ride as smoothly as the Lexus. It did get great fuel economy and was a little quieter at high speed, and it felt a little more modern. But, the M340i does have a great engine. While I've not driven one, I've driven an X3 M40i (we were considering replacing the 330i with a used one of those), and in that car, the engine was unbelievable. It sounded great and was super responsive and torquey. But, it just doesn't have the soul of a good V-8.

@@grandmastagrimm8773it’s expensive asf to maintain and while it does have great performance, interiors are basic and hard leather and the b58 engine is unreliable. That’s how it is with twin turbos. Naturally Aspirated V8 has a soul and sends chills down your spine. But the hybrid system for the b58 gives it a lot of torque and sportier drive but it destroys the engine. With Lexuses, you can beat the accelerator and it will forgive you

In the states Lexus is pretty well known, but in some countries the only IS we get is the 300, so we need to deal with the 2.0T as the only option... until they increase their portfolio. In the other hand... they have very competitive prices compared to all other premium brands, they are killing it!

I was at the end of my rope. Tried all the German cars, thought I wanted a Volvo Polestar Wagon, yet still couldn’t fall in love. I thought it was because I was desensitized to everything, and considered giving up on a sport sedan all together. Then I randomly walked into Lexus and discovered the IS350. The test drive put an actual smile on my face. The seat contoured to my body and the car spoke to me. Yes some things with this car are dated, but let me tell you, this is a drivers car. No need to go into the infotainment screen and swipe to page two to adjust the temperature, there’s an actual button for that. I realized that the reason this car doesn’t change much, is that you don’t mess with perfection. Yes I bought my 2024 IS350 infrared AWD F Sport with white interior, and I can’t stop looking at it. This car is a work of art, and speaks to me every time I get in.

As a solid BMW guy… coming out of a 640 GrandCouple. I love love my 2022 IS350AWD. I’d get the IS500. But need AWD. This car is sooooo tight. No squeaks or rattles. And I find it fun as hell. I don’t need any more power Plus I paid 50000 new …can’t beat the value

I like the IS. I test drove a 300 when I was shopping for my last car. The photos of the interior don't capture the fit and finish of the materials. I really thought that it was going to be an easy pass but it was a very difficult decision before I settled on the TLX and part of me still feels like I made the wrong decision. There's always next year, lol. In Canada, the V6 AWD is the only available trim for the 300 and the 350 is significantly more coin so the 300 becomes a more feasible option, especially since some will flash their engine to try and get the same numbers as the 350. I guess it would still be missing that "Sport +" mode though. And yeah, car reviewers always trash this car, but I really like it. It has a unique old school character that's so hard to find nowadays.

The refresh is so nice. I personally had a 2010 lexus is350 and loved every second of it coming from an 08 Acura TL. The throttle response with 3.5L NA engine is so buttery and it’s really quick from the dig for what it is. Unfortunately mine was totaled while parked out in street when a drunk girl at 3 am decided to speed in my neighborhood and slam the shit out of my rear completely fucking up the axle and bumper. I was in the market for a new IS because I loved how nimble and small the car felt but the 3is I never liked the headlights and the 4is was a little over my budget. Ultimately I ended up getting a 2020 G70 Genesis and I don’t regret it. Best in class in my opinion considering the bang for the buck you with with a fully loaded model. I still have love for the Lexus is but I just wish it had a little bit more quick without having to get the is500. My only gripe with the is, is that there’s faster cars for the price and the interior hasn’t been refreshed in a while despite looking pretty it’s still old. Not dismissing the reliability but with my CPO G70 I have an unlimited mileage warranty or 10 year for the drivetrain so I ain’t worried about any of that. Good video 👍

I have been car shopping for a while, and after looking at Audi, Toyota (the crown), Genesys g80 and then the Lexus IS and RC.... I quickly got it down to Audi and both lexus's... I then found out about fixing things and oil changes cost and heard some bad stories about Audi and the way they fix things... plus I didnt lose the design as much even though the motor had a little more oomph. I then thought I was set on the RC, but I came across a 2024 with a blackout package in iridium with a red interior, plus the coup doors swung out really wide and the engine was the exact same for 5,000 dollars more... I decided that even though I wanted a pretty sporty look, the IS still looked plenty sporty and this car happened to have literally the exact features I was looking for... So now I bought it and Im waiting for them to tint the windows and protect the car a little more... very excited I worked really hard, saved a lot of money (for me) and finally got a car that I think will be very special to me... Do you feel the IS500 is a better financial decision currently compared to an LC500? If its possible to afford either which would you go with, given interest rates, brand incentives etc...

If you can afford an LC comfortably, def go for it. The IS, RC, & GS despite a few nuances, can all be lumped in the same category as they all feel the same. LC Transcends everything else in the lineup and it's peers hard to explain you would have to test one yourself. But at $65K plus potential dealer discount if you can negotiate one, IS 500 is a no brainer for that price. You really have to care about getting a special driving experience to buy an LC and fork over an extra $45K.

That’s very true, LC 500 experience is above and beyond versus all the other Fs. Depending on your needs I think GSF, RCF and IS 500 can be considered. You words on character is so true. These vehicles are distinctly handsome, unique, I prefer the inside layout vs Germans iPads, I am not even talking about reliability. Another good video!

It's always interesting to watch this videos. Here in Spain we don't have the non hybrid versions because of climate regulations. This cars are great and comfortable. They are mostly used as cabs/uber cars because of how durable and comfy they are. I have more experience driving the ES but one thing I can say for sure, I am extremely tired of Mercedes, BMW and especially Audi's bad reliability. Those german cars are money pits and despite their specs (wich are better here cuz they aren´t hybrid models as the Lexus line). I suffered a lot from a company standpoint by having those german cars and I don't wanna touch them with a ten foot pole.

Very happy with my IS300AWDF. Couldn't find a 350 when I was buying with all the options I wanted. The 300AWD is basically a 350AWD minus some HP and Torque.

It feels like these cars are getting blackballed by car journalists. The Japanese don’t play the payola game. Journalist ,literally refuse to mention it’s name in comparisons. “Ooo yeah, get the Cadillac V, and a Scat Pack.” The Cadillac’s engine blew up during Car and Driver’s long term test, and they blew it off like it was a broken taillight. The Lexus along with the TLX Type S have so much character and quality, and way more road presence.

I don't place my credibility on Internet journalists. They don't have any street cred or any automotive cred for that matter. At most, they evaluate the cars for a week, and most of them don't even bother to learn the specs. One reviewer didn't even know the gauge cluster on the IS 500 moved. Some, like the Car Care Nut, are very knowledgable, but they are rare.

Yea that’s the best way to roll. If you happen to get a problematic unit of God forbid the vehicle is in an accident, you don’t have to keep or be liable for a devalued car. You can just turn it back in. But if you have a perfect experience and love the car, you can just buy the vehicle out at lease end. Just be sure to ask your finance manager if you are able to do this because some car makes don’t allow lease buy outs or will charge a small fee. Don’t think there’s an issue with Lexus

Got a 2023 IS500. Absolutely no one knows what it is. I get the occasional compliment at the gas station, but most don't care what it is and those who know it wouldn't buy it. The dealer was basically shocked I wanted one which was an insane concept to me. It's a shame because it's the perfect daily and it's nowhere near slow.

I just bought a fully loaded IS350 RWD. I currently own a 2017 GS350 AWD which is my second Lexus. I had an NX300 that was whacked and totalled, so I took the insurance check and got the GS off the lot. I'm done with SUVs. Love my GS, but it's time to move on.

From 51 tho to 30 something melted my heart 😊! The drive the luxury and all was the best decision I’ve ever made ! Love this car x1000 ! Can’t help to think of the ML audio … blah blah was it worth not getting that ?

@@MeynMotorGroup Not yet but I currently drive a Kia stinger premium the 4 cylinder version . I just wanted to upgrade to an Acura or Lexus since I know they won’t have the same squeaks and rattles in the cabin . I also like the feel and reliability of the naturally aspirated v6 .

The IS must return to its roots… a spiritual successor to the AE86 but in sedan form…. Now that electric drivetrain are being pushed, the IS must be a balanced and nimble platform to differentiate from its main competition that keep gaining weight.

I really think you should try and test drive an Is 350 F Sport my friend. I didn't mention it in this particular video but you're not missing out on much when you go with the 350 F Sport as the IS 500 from factory sounds very muted and needs an exhaust to truly wake it up so really from the factory. Speed is the main edge that the IS 500 has because the V6 also has satisfactory induction noises and great lease deals. Not to mention, specs will never tell the story with these cars, it's gotta be something you experience for yourself on a test drive. If you do happen to try it, I would love to hear your thoughts.

The IS has had my attention since around 2016 when the F-Sport beat a BMW in a Car and Driver comparison test. They are well known BMW fan boys. Rating it higher means something. BMW beating handling, steering, and braking. Then you get reliability on top of that.

Awesome video. I’m a purist and can’t wait for my IS500 to arrive. I’m 45 and will take out my CDs from the closet and embrace the baller ML sound system as well! First time Lexus to be owner and coming from Acura. Question. Put a deposit down at my dealer a month ago. Gave my color preferences. Will arrive likely early December. Trading in the Acura and will pay cash. No dealer markup and it’s a 2023. Should I be able to get any extra off of MSRP? Not likely since I’m paying cash but just curious your opinion. Thanks.

So on an IS 500, I think the only hope of getting a discount is if you hope on CarGurus and sort by which IS 500 has been sitting on the dealer lot the longest, reach out to the GM of that dealer and ask for a $3k discount. In your situation since you have deposit on a build/desireable spec you want, I think sticker with no extra games is the best case scenario which is exactly what you got. Massive congrats on your purchase my friend!

Only if the interest rate on the lease is incentivized to be low and your lease contract / bank allows you to buy the vehicle at the end. Not ever lender allows you to buy the vehicle at the end of the lease term so you must ask the finance manager first before signing.

Am I stupid if I trade in my 2018 RX450H for IS 500? Single guy no family or whatsoever, always wanted to have a fun car before I get too old... Income is ranging around 200-300K in TX. Only one minor concern with IS500 is rear wheel drive. I hope it could have AWD. Though I probably will never actually use the AWD functionality, but I may move to northern states for work in the future (big maybe). Nothing wrong with my current RX, but it's just a little boring? Heck, I mostly work from home and I dont really drive very much

I have a 2014 is350 and the interior was far ahead of its time then But they never changed it. Huge reason why im not trading in for the new one or even going back to an IS in the future. I also only have 54k miles and it'll last 200k lol. unless they add a turbo for more power, lexus just doesn't compete

People who dismiss the IS350 as being old and outdated have never even driven one in their life. I have a '19 and no way I would buy a turbo 4 cylinder German over this. The smooth engine, instant throttle response, the snarl of the V6 as you take it up to the redline and the pitch increases in urgency and drama - these things are what make the IS350 what it is. Also, btw, the IS300 AWD has the same 3.5L V6 as the IS350, just detuned from gears 3 and up. This means the IS300 AWD can do 0 - 60 in the same time as the 350 - I have driven the IS300 AWD and tested that 0 - 60 time many times, and it feels no different than my 350. It is only when you get past 60 and it switches to 3rd gear that the IS300 AWD will start to lag behind as it'll short shift before 6.6k redline.
