Brian, how many times over the last 25 years have we seen an automotive headline of “Lexus should be worried!” Or “RX killer!” It’s a tale as old as time. Didn’t work out for the 2011 Cadillac SRX or Lincoln MKX did it? Or any other number of attempts…

For instance the nautilus has a torque vectoring AWD system that’s not offered on any Lexus crossover yet it is offered on a RAV4 / highlander And the hybrid setup on the Lincoln isn’t used on lesser fords. And the nautilus doesn’t use base engines from ford like the turbo 3 cylinder. On the RX however all 4 engines are used in lesser Toyotas The turbo is also used in the base highlander. The hybrid comes from the RAV4 Camry etc. the PHEV comes from the rav4 prime. The 500h powertrain is also used in the hybridMAX crown and grand highlander And the RX interior looks more Toyota than Lexus. The RX use’s injection molded plastics throughout the interior. No leather dash or doors or metal speaker grilles or acres of wood trim. And the instrument cluster is also used in a high end corolla sedan. Oh and the infotainment is exactly the same as you’d get in a corolla. No difference in fonts or themes. While both the RX and nautilus offer useless tech the RX is much worse. The door handles are bad enough on both but the also adds a touchpad steering wheel and removal of physical buttons. And from what I’ve heard the safety tech isn’t that great especially the optional Front Cross Traffic Alert which is hyper sensitive

Even if you don’t like his style, there is zero excuse to insult his appearance, clothes, etc. Personally, while I think Brian may have taken a little while to get comfortable in the position, he’s been doing quite well in the videos recently, and I hope those in charge at AoA don’t listen to the bottom feeders on the internet who make themselves feel better by trashing others. I also find it interesting how many people who say “hard pass” to a car made in China when probably 90% of the things they interact with on a daily basis were either made in China or made out of things made in China. Most of the negative comments about China were probably made on a phone, laptop or tablet that was made in China. If you’re gonna take a stand against a car made in China, 1) you probably should take a hard look at everything else in your house and 2) you might want to take a look and see where most of the components in your car were made.

The Nautilus is nice as are most cars nowadays but unlike the Lexus RX which has a distinctly current but future-foward design and innovation, this just gets lost on the road of nice cars. Additionally, these auto makers are so desperate to cater to the younger generation (of which most can't afford them), that they are filling these cars with these silly screens that will surely bring along a host of problems especially because many of these brands have never conquered their reliability issues in the first place. You're kidding me with a Chinese LIncoln - none the less a $70,000 Black Label Chinese LIncoln! I don't think the Germans, Cadillac, Lexus or Genesis have much to worry about. The Lincoln retailers should be either crying or picketing the execs in Dearborn. There's a reason that GM doesn't bring Chinese Cadillacs to the U.S.which are probably the lessons they've learned from the Buick Envision which is a total flop. Call it poor quality, geopolitics or the fact that most American luxury car buyers would rather buy an American luxury brand manufactured in North America. The fact that no German or Japanese luxury brand exports Chinese produced and assembled vehicles into the U.S. from their plants there is also is telling. - they built plants in the U.S. Volvo quit exporting the Chinese S60 because of quality - that vehicle is now built in South Carolina alongside the XC60, and the Germans have rather robust manufacture and assembly operations in Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama. Lexus isn't worried - they're laughing.

Lincoln is on something if they think they can charge 80 grand for a top trim with a 4 popper. Even the $65k for an optioned Reserve is criminal given that engine. If they aren't going to provide an actual electric or PHEV drivetrain they really need to at least have a 6 cylinder option at this price range. You can buy an X3 M40 for the same or less money and it has better tech, better build quality, more space, enormously better acceleration and handling. The only thing this Lincoln has over it are more adjustable seats and better self-driving and not many people value those things remotely enough to stomach the tradeoffs. If this was 20k cheaper across the board it would probably sell quite well.

I was told last week that Ford was going to import a Lincoln from China, and I said "Impossible...why would they choose to get hit with a 27.5% tariff?" Welp... I guess that's what Ford is choosing to do. I don't know... seems like a terrible choice. Few people want to buy vehicles made in China and causing harm to the US' largest remaining manufacturing industry. Let me guess the reason... their sales in China have dumped off a cliff just like every other Western OEM trying to sell vehicles in China, so now they have a surplus of supply out of their Chinese factory that they need to get rid of. It's 27.5% tariff, or bust. I'm sure US union members won't be happy about losing jobs to China for vehicles sold in the US, nor should anyone in the US economy be happy about this... outside of Ford execs and shareholders. Again... at least we're seeing Ford get hit with a 27.5% tariff on the import of these vehicles. It's a well deserved tariff. As to that screen... no seriously... who in their right mind wants a screen that massive and pointless that blocks their vision? They keep showing weather, music track, and time on the 3 screens to the right... things that can easily be shown on the main screen. It's just so... so... pointless. Isn't it bad enough that the high front end of this vehicle is already blocking the driver's view of the road... you know... for those times where a child may be standing in front of the car as the driver pulls forward. This screen seems to make it even worse. I'm not gonna say it doesn't look well implemented, but why would Ford ever want the driver looking all the way to the right side of the windshield to look for information that should be right in front of them so they don't have to take their eyes off the road?

Yes, it's styled beautifully (which is more than I can say for anything made by Cadillac) but it is yet another SUV/CUV whose sole powerplant is yet another inclination of Ford's tired 2.0 litre Turbo four with a hybrid battery; no different from the Ford Escape, Ford Bronco and Bronco Sport, Lincoln Corsair and even Ford's superior Maverick. For over $50,000 (and most likely for over $80,000) you get a fancy digital IP and Avator styling. If Lincoln (and Ford for that matter) want to truly dazzle their customers with this vehicle, it should have been an all-electric model only. However, What they should have built was a sleek, aerodynamically styled 4-door SEDAN with STANDARD clamshell (suicide) doors and a choice of either an all-electric model or one powered by the Mustang Dark Horse's 5.0 litre V8 and one which restarts the Mark series as the "Mark IX" (NOT "Mk9") this would have been much better. You say no one is into sedans anymore? Then explain the Volkswagen ID7, the sexy Hyundai Ionic 6, Lucid Air, the best-selling Tesla Model 3, or the world's most ugly and expensive 5-door hatchback, the Cadillac Celestiq! I say, the sedan will be alive and well. And apparently, I'm not the only one who feels that way! Grade: B-

The new Nautilus will be made in China. Hard pass. So if I were Lexus, I wouldn’t worry about it. Especially when reliability is the name of the game

Will it be quality ? Will it have manufacturing issues? …….THAT STOPS ME . HOWEVER ITS BEAUTIFUL.

Great looking car, but I think Lincoln should start worrying about being 23rd for reliability. Where does Lexus rank on that???

Arrangement of the rear side windows as well as the ornamentation of their periphery is not well defined at first sight. I had to put on ''pause'' often to get a clearer idea.

So, any Lincoln Nautilus buyer should like this new gen one, but did Lincoln (and Ford) miss out on a big opportunity, think if Lincoln had used a shortened version of the RWD-based Aviator platform instead of another FWD base AWD CUV, yes I know other car companies do it, but when you have a RWD unibody SUV you think Ford and Lincoln would want to get their money out of it, this or the new Lexus RX, 2-row Jeep GC, upcoming Mazda CX-70, BMW X5, Mercedes GLE or Cadillac XT5 (maybe Lyriq), Lincoln just stepped up its game, can we assume the Aviator and Navigator will be getting a similar screen layout for upcoming update models, it's way better than the Chinese 2023 Ford Explorer interior

No, don’t like this at all. You can’t call this true American Luxury because it is not built in the US. The interior looks cheap and very plastic. Materials look very uninviting. needs lots of chrome to look like true American luxury.

I hate to say it, but Americans don't know how to build true luxury cars, anymore. It always been overshadowed by the Germans and Japanese luxury brands. This new Nautilus may help Lincoln's struggling sales. It sure damn look better than it did before! Just have to see how it will be well received when it goes into final production.
