If you have a light on your rifle regardless if its connected to a pressure switch or not you should always have a cap on the front of your light because even if it's off the enemy can still see the glint especially under nods

I agree. I've accidentally hit mine too.

Always thought the pressure pads were just unnecessary clutter on the gun. I can easily click the standard button with my thumb.

I gave pressure switches and chance several times and they just blow for a multitude of reasons. Tailcaps buttons for me. I do make covers out of plastic jug caps and shock cord wrapped in tape. Highly recommend those.

I have had no less than 3 pressure pads/switches fail on me or break in service use, they are trash and are a waste of money lol yup. 🍻

I prefer the tail cap switches more difficult for ND to happen. I would like to add though if I may, that I prefer my light tucked in close to the top in between the 11 or 12 o'clock position or in between the 12 or 1 o'clock position for ease of access for the dominant or non dominant side.

I put one on my weapon, but I've been going back and forth if it should stay... Think I just made my mind up. It comes off tomorrow

I use one on my rifle now but when I was doing real shit in bad places I used the tail switch. I use it now because I’m not in hours long firefights or running around trying to stay alive. Extremely hard use broke those quick, they are made better now but I still don’t fully trust them. See profile picture.

💯 Same here. When I built my rifle, I was going to just use the tail cap, but I ended up putting the included pressure switch on because I'm left handed and it helps-- But, I'll probably remove it. It's a weak link in the system
@VictoryOrValhalla14
@VictoryOrValhalla14 Месяц назад
@@jmmartin7766 you can make it less weak by using cable clips, tape and rubber tubing(ranger bands)/shrink wrap but is the juice worth the squeeze? I use a buttstock with a compartment(BCM type, can’t remember the name) and I keep the tail cap with a spare battery in it. My angled fore grip is also a BCM with compartment with optic battery and a small tube of lithium grease/motor oil mix and my pistol grip is a magpul with a spare bolt in it.

@jmmartin7766 Месяц назад
@@VictoryOrValhalla14 Sounds like you've got a cool set up. I did most of that, so my cable is pretty secure. And I keep my tail cap in my assault pack and extra batteries in my K2+ grip. But where the cable attaches to the light, it still presents a snagging hazard in the woods (1st thing I don't like)-- nothing that can be done about that. And (dislike #2) it still needlessly makes NDs way easier.

@@jmmartin7766 can get a light cap from 100 concepts or similar company to(mostly)stop the light ND or use an old debit card like I did.

Installing/using a pressure switch is the same thing as purposefully installing a “surprise!” machine on you rifle. They’re dumb.

It took me darn near 40 years to finally mount a light on my rifle...and about 10 seconds to opt for the tail cap over that charlie-foxtrot-waiting-to-happen called a pressure pad. Boomer Fuddisms Matter

You should always have your weapon light on the outside of your rifle... that light is a target and if it's on the inside you make yourself an easier target
@DJTheMetalheadMercenary
@DJTheMetalheadMercenary Месяц назад
That is utter nonsense, any distance outside of a room/ 10ish meters white light washes and floods out, the mere inches between either side of your rifle does not matter when the bumrush of area fire comes your way. (Also ofc notwithstanding the cognizant use of white light in the first place)
@BoomerChimichanga
@BoomerChimichanga Месяц назад
only if you are running around with your light on like you are looking for Mr. Goodbar. That said, that's why I don't have a light on my nightstand handgun...I much prefer my old boomer-fudd training of my light in my weak hand, with my arm at about 45 degrees up and away from my body. Of course boomer-fudd training also dictates training to shoot with either single hand, and only turning that light on for a millisecond, if you must at all.
@jerrythekazzyy
@jerrythekazzyy Месяц назад
@@BoomerChimichanga I personally prefer having the light attached to the handgun inside the home. It’s something I’ll never forget to have in a dire situation because it’s attached to the gun. Concealed no light is attached, handheld light is mandatory.
@BoomerChimichanga
@BoomerChimichanga Месяц назад
@@jerrythekazzyy no worries, you do you. I have a light right next to the gun...I have two hands, I grab both. I've trained this way for decades and I prefer it.
