Nice review. The cloth top pushes about the same DBs as the retractable hard top "RF" when they are closed. The soft top is a little better than the RF with less buffeting on the highway when the roofs are open. IMO opinion the RF looks fantastic but adds weight, complexity and cost. If you live in a place with harsh winters and want to drive an MX-5 all year, the RF is probably the better choice but, the soft top is a better design overall. The GT also comes with Bilstein shocks and a tremendously good active limited slip rear differential. BTW, the manual is quite a bit quicker than the auto in this car and you seldom if ever see an automatic on the track. Liked and subscribed
With the soft top the radio can't be heard at 75 mph, but with the hard top it can so DB rating or not I would take the hardtop for living with for 10 years or 150,000 miles.
@@chadhaire1711 That's why they make 2 different options. I'll take the soft top. I don't have any problem at all with music or phone at 75 with mine. Either way they are both great.
I live in the Midwest and worked with a woman that had a Miata. It was a soft top. She drove it all year round in all types of weather. And never missed work. I think it's a good looking vehicle, especially the soft top. So I ordered one. It's expected to arrive in July.
