Thank you for mentioning Imanaga of Yokohama. He's a quality pitcher, and most MLB teams will be happy to have him. He will be a good consolation prize to those teams that don't get to sign Yamamoto. I think the Mariners will be interested in Imanaga simply because they don't have a quality left-handed starter.
@@henrywallacesghost5883 Oh it has. We are a delusional bunch. I just read Ohtani signed with The Expos! Or, The Nordiques, or whomever. Thank goodness it wasn't The Yankees or The Rod Sux.
@@HummBabyBaseballI think your prediction is the worst after I saw hundreds of this kind of video such as ohtani to giants and beilinger to angels why dodgers didn't get anyone who's over 20 million expect Kershaw and if Beilinger to angels why they don't save their money to make a better farm
Great video! Ohtani is not leaving Southern California. He loves it here. The Angels will offer him the most money and the Dodgers would provide him the best chance to make the playoffs. I don't think he'll seriously consider going anywhere else.
Nah Shoei Ohtani is going to be signing with the Boston Red Sox because Shoei Ohtani has a New Balance connection in Boston so the Red Sox will sign him
@@craigtrulock5683 I say this in the nicest way but if he decides where he wants to spend the next 12+ years of his life in part because it's near the headquarters location of a brand he has a brand deal with, he's not making a good decision.
I guess the Dbacks don’t exist. Dbacks will get at least one of these players. Front office kept payroll so low for 3 years and now we’re ready to win/spend.
I've heard that the Giants are going to trade for Pete Alonso, Juan Soto, and also sign Blake Snell... I have very Credible Sources. I do agree with you abou Yamamoto, he will be wearing pinstripes but its the ones from Queens, not the Bronx. Aldo the Mets are staying away from Jorge Soler, they want to try Ronnie Mauricio in LF, if that fails they'll go all in on Juan Soto, if he's still available at the trade deadline... With a deal similar to the Lindor deal.
I'm a Giants fan and obviously I'd want 1)Ohtani 2)Yamamoto in that order, but saving those guys for other conversations I'd be really excited about Lee coming to the Bay. He's got so much upside + we need a CF + it would be hard for him to be a downgrade from '22 Haniger/Conforto. He's got that kind of shine (idk how to describe it) that would make me super excited to tune in to games and watch at bats, and that's who the front office needs rn. His contact/high average hitting would be so fun to see. obv. we'd be tuning in to see Yamamoto pitch and Ohtani bat/pitch, but I want lots more players who are exciting to watch.
Lee would be nice, but I think Meckler and Matos are going to each step up for that job. If I was in Zaidi's shoes I'd aim for Ohtani and Yamamoto first then aim for a 3B like Chapman (let Schmitt and Fitzgerald be our backups on the bench).
@@1FMAlchemist I don’t see why we’d want Chapman cause JD Davis has quality defense and almost identical 2023 offense with Chapman after slowing down at the end. If JD can keep it up he’s a much better player imo
@@Zachrdoodle decided to look more into Chapman's recent stats. You have a good point. Chapman doesn't offer anything that Davis can already do. In which case, it may be better to go all in on Yamamoto and Ohtani.
As a Texas Rangers fan I could see the Giants getting Shohei all have the money y’all are on the west coast just signed Bob Melvin it reminds me of the last two off season of the Rangers
I agree that Ohtani goes to the Dodgers While the Mets could use his bat, their payroll is already the highest in Baseball. I think that if they spend it will be on a pitcher and a DH. One player who doesn't get much love is Gio Urshella. He's a solid hitter who can play multiple positions, and he can rake left handed pitching. He's one of those types of players that you want on your team. He's not spectacular but fills an important niche.
I always forget to hit notifications for your channel. I think I thought I already did. Well I didn’t but definitely got it done now. Your content is exactly what baseball fan need. Great FA video. Thank you
As a Red Sox fan I got something to say to you….DONT YOU PUT THAT EVIL ME!!!!!! I do not want Yamamoto to the Bronx I was already happy he was leaving the Pacific League and stop beating the shit out of my Nippon-Ham Fighters now you want to talk about him going to NY I don’t want him anywhere near my teams again😂😂😂
Humm Baby Baseball the Royals already have a younger left handed Bader his name is Kyle Isbel. The Royals have the least amount of post 2024 guaranteed money in all of MLB and the only guy here you have them signing is an older worse version of a guy they already have? Yeah story checks out lol. I’d be pretty happy if they signed both Flaherty and Giolito since they are both under 30 and have had big time success in the past. The biggest one they could realistically sign would be Jung-Hoo Lee though. No long term CF on the team and lead-off spot in the order open for an OBP master? Sounds like a perfect fit…
11:25, lol HBB. I'm not mad about you picking Imanaga to sign with the Dodgers. It's honestly such a Friedman signing. I can see that more realistic than the Yamamoto one. If Kershaw does leave, it's obvious he will be a Ranger. But if it happens, so be it with Kershaw. LA like you said has a BUNCH of question marks in their rotation. Bobby Miller and then 4 question marks. Buehler, you don't know what to expect. Pepiot is a Wild Card. Bruh, Josh Hader to the Rangers just makes them even more scary. Cody Bellinger signing with the Angels I did not see in my bingo card. But then, Moreno is willing to spend stupid money. Also, I love how you ended the video with Ohtani going to the Bay Area! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Cardinals want Jordan Montgomery back and Montgomery had no problem coming back to St. Louis. If he goes back to the Cardinals, on top of the minor league players they got. Montgomery got what he want and help Texas win a ring.
I personally think the Dodgers are still the favorite but the Giants and Mariners are probably right behind them. The Giants are probably ahead of the Mariners because I'm almost certain the Giants are at least going to bid hard on Ohtani and they should spend a lot of money to get some real stars whether they get Ohtani or not. They have lost a lot of season tix holders because they haven't been winning as much as they said they would and fans find this type of team boring. The Giants may not end up with Ohtani but if they don't I see them going after guys like Bellinger, Matt Chapman, Blake Snell, Aaron Nolan and Yamamoto. Montgomery, Grey and E-Rod could all be in the mix too. Offense and starting pitching will be the main goals of the Giants offseason IMO.
@@matthew01234 I highly doubt pitchers like Snell will sign with the Giants. The Giants don't sign pitchers longer than 3 years and he will probably want a 5-6 year deal.
@@hopespringseternal2624 What I'm saying is the drop in season ticket holders is going to force the Giants to bring some star power in. Maybe not pitchers but someone. There aren't a lot of hitters out there. Farhan isn't going to get away with platooning mediocre veterans again and expect to get those season tickets holders back. They've already given up on him because of the way he does business and he knows that now.
@@hopespringseternal2624 Think it's important to note that the Giants are completely fine giving long term deals to pitchers who are on the younger side, they just extended Logan Webb. I don't think they like Snell though because they are (justifiably) neurotic about walk rates. I'd say Yamamoto has a better chance of being on the Giants than Snell
Don’t sleep on the giants man, they have a great blend of supplemtary hitters with young prospects/pitchers. Melvin has gotten the most out his guys with no money in Oakland, making 6/11 playoff berths with no free agency. He’ll have way better resources to work with in SF I’m not saying giants are likeliest, but they aren’t completely out of it imo.
If he wants to go to a team that chokes in every postseason unless they are playing 35% of a year he's free to do that, but even Shohei Ohtani won't fix Betts + Freeman going 1-17 in a 4-game sweep. Idk where he ends up but the Giants are are 2 years removed from 107 wins and about to feel the effects of a revamped farm system start producing. I think the Dodgers are the favorites but this is not a done deal
Finally, a free agent prediction that gives the Mets a top pitcher (You know, the thing they're really desperate for after trading their top 2 starters...). While I think the Mets will still get Yamamoto, I definitely agree that the Yankees are a big competitor in that and there are a lot of things that could happen to make the Mets miss out on him, but one thing's for sure, they're getting a top pitcher this offseason. And Jorge Soler is exactly the person I was thinking to fill the DH spot too. Good list, I can't tell you how disgusted I was with the previous lists I've seen of people saying the top player the Mets will pick up this offseason was Adam Duvall... Clear anti-Met bias. Funnily enough, I don't think your Ohtani/Giants prediction is that ridiculous or biased at all either. I've got like a 90% chance he goes to either the Giants or the Dodgers, while like 10 other teams fight over that last 10% chance to steal Ohtani from under them. Both the Giants and the Dodgers have the advantage of being on the west coast. While the Dodgers have the advantage of being a clear contender year in and year out, coaxing Ohtani's desires to actually make a playoff appearance, I think the Giants have the unique opportunity and the drive to go all in for Ohtani after last offseason's disappointing free agency. Both have money but I think the Giants have a little bit more urgency to spend it, however it's gonna come down to whether Ohtani is willing to forsake money for a more "safe" team or not.
Rangers should not go after him at all. 500 million will hook them up for long time and it would be harder to pay other good players in the team and they will become new LA Angels. Hell no
@@WolfofAsia012 that's what I'm saying unless shohei takes a major cut to salary there is no way in hell the Rangers are going to take him and besides we've already got a good as hell Arsenal that we have right now plus we have all those Aces coming from our farm system next year
@@devynlich00 Despite cheating scandal, Astros have done a great job at building teams by underpaying Altuve and Bergman and letting players walk if they ask for massive deal(deservedly), and also trading and developing right players. Rangers should follow Astros blueprint. Also having one of Greatest manager in Bochy will be advantage over Astros anyway
@@WolfofAsia012 there's no need for the Rangers to even follow that blueprint because we have a s*** ton of upcoming Talent from our farm system but as a Rangers Fan I have a odd feeling that we may be seeing the start of a dynasty for the Rangers and I'm all for it after the 50 years of heartbreak we've had
There is this thing called trading for pitching. In FA you usually have to pay up for pitching because the market is starving for them. Don’t know why the Braves would do it in FA
I also tend to agree with you about Soler. I'm just concerned that he has a high likelihood of turning into another Kyle Shwarber . All home runs and strikeouts.
Ohtani doesn't deserve $500 million nor any other baseball player imo teams needs to quit over spending for a player especially one who hurt as of this video
Whatever Kershaw does, he wont pitch till the summer after having shoulder surgery last week. Also as a Cardinals fan, i see us for sure bringing back Monty and i wouldn't mind at all if we went with your pick and brought in Rodriguez. Would LOVE Sonny Gray in a Cardinals uni
As an Mariners fan, we know ownership doesn’t go after highly sought after FA hitters. Which they definitely need. Lee Jung-hoo would be a nice fit in their lineup. But as I’ve said, ownership is too cheap as they’re about profits.
@@henrywallacesghost5883 they absolutely could & have the money to spend. Unfortunately Mariners ownership doesn’t spend a lot in FA (especially hitters) as they rather keep the moneys for themselves.
I’m gonna say no on Hernandez to the Braves. You aren’t getting a huge boost from Rosario you end up getting worse defense actually. Braves just announced they opened the check book and let both LF go so look for them to go after another big potential bat with solid defense who they can lock down long term and would be major improvement over Rosario or just sticking Grissom in LF
The Cardinals better open up the pocket book and sign more than choose fir them. They will also hopefully trade for a stud as well. I got Sonny Gray going to the Cardinals. If Imanaga doesn't get too expensive also remotely possible. They are courting the Japanese reliever Matsui. Hopefully Lars Nootbar will help convince one of the Japanese pitchers to come to my ST.LOUIS CARDINALS!!! Thanks for the program, two flaps up!!!
Doesn't Ohtani want to be on a winning team? And I just heard Dodger Nation saying Kershaw recently had major shoulder surgery so I think he will go to the Dodgers.
Don’t sleep on the giants, they definitely have a shot at him, even with the mid record. The hire of Melvin getting the most out of guys, nice blend of supplementary hitters/great young prospects/pitchers. The giants have more than meets the eye imo, we’ll see. The dodgers are getting older too/there winning will continue for another 10 years
@@km-lr7wj Melvin has never led a team to a World Series. And the Giants had a losing record last year. He says he wants to be on a winning team. The Giants only have ONE winning season since 2014. Sad...
@@hopespringseternal2624 well bochy didn’t in the padres for like 11 years either right? Dusty baker didn’t win until last year,so after Dave Roberts won it in the pandemic year he’s a champ? All I’m saying is you can’t count out the giants, they have better resources than the A’s when the A’s relied on farm, Melvin will get the most out of his guys, made it to6/11 seasons to playoffs.the dodgers look better recently, but they are getting older/pitching for them is iffy It’s not like the dodgers are in perfect spot either, but just not counting out the giants
@@km-lr7wj The Diamondbacks and Dodgers will make certain the Giants don't make it to the playoffs. Remember the saying, "In Farhan we Trust". Strange, I don't see anyone saying that anymore. Ha ha! Zaidi is a cheap liar. And Giants ownership said their goal was to "break even". The Giants may have the resources, but ownership and Zaidi are too cheap to spend what it takes to produce a championship team!
Lol 😂 ohtani wants to win! He won’t sign with the Giants . They need to sign multiple players to have a somewhat of a year . He’s going to sign with the Dodgers . He’s their missing piece
Ohtani won't fix Freeman and Betts 1-17 getting swept by the D-backs though. I'd think he takes a 0-11 record of (actual) postseason/WS wins into account since they started winning the division almost every year
I've looked at trout his 7 years at $37 left $280 million or so, is slot at 32, obtain is 29, pitches, shows no decline isn't playing outfield, he can DH. I'm in on the big dude over trout.
I really don’t see how Shohei ends up in SF. All the reports from Passan are if you’re in the ballpark money doesn’t matter to him, he wants his home. Maybe that’s my delusion in full force as a Mariners fan, but it does seem like Seattle makes a lot of sense with contention window/roster fit/west coast
Bellinger would be a mistake on the level of Alfonzo/Zito/ConfortO-for-Four We have all seen what happens when slump-prone players come to this current group: they get worse. We all know that current ownership is totally fine with a .220 batting average, players come here and stagnate at best. Melvin will help, but after needlessly extending The Geek a lot of the problems will persist
Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to the Yankees? One of the most anti Yankees players in the league. That has to be the stupidest prediction that I've ever heard. Let's get some more players that will only cause drama in the club house. What's Trevor Bauer doing now a days? Him and Cole would get along famously!
At least the Giants have been in the playoffs and have won some World Series relatively recently.. they'll have to try to convince him it's a winning environment despite the last couple seasons.
@@HummBabyBaseball Ohtani isn’t gonna care about what happened a decade ago. He is gonna care about where the team is at currently. I just can’t see him leaving a place where he is comfortable and going up north to play for a borderline.500 team when he could stay exactly where he is and play for a team he knows will make the playoffs every year. Makes no sense. I do think the Giants will have a big offseason. Probably Snell and a big bat. Certainly not Ohtani though
@@Dodgers-sw2uk I'd think they don't want Snell cause of age + walk rate but it's insane to say Giants are the same distance from playoffs as the Angles. The Angles just blew up their farm system for a losing record and shed as many contracts as possible to cut costs. (and don't have a manager). Giants are starting to reap the benefits of a strong farm system and are 2 years removed from 107 wins, and also have 3 WS in the last 13 years (Angles have 1 in the last...history of their franchise). IMO if the Giants had more than two pitchers and 1-2 more bats in the last half of the season they wouldn't have fallen apart. They were 13 games above .500 and just needed to carry that 'till 162, which I really think is possible with the right 3-4 guys.
@@Zachrdoodle It just doesn’t make any sense why he would pick the Giants over the Dodgers. Giants are probably a little better than the Angels. But they are still a long way away from being able to compete with the Dodgers in the regular season. The Dodgers have nearly a full 100 million in dead money coming off the books this offseason. That combination with their elite farm is gonna make them extremely difficult to beat in a 162 game season. Sure they could still get the wildcard but that makes winning the WS much harder. Dodgers will offer Ohtani just as much money as the Giants, if not more. But they also offer a better chance at winning and the opportunity to not have to move at all. He could stay in the same exact community he has grown comfortable with. That is a big advantage for the Dodgers.
@@Zachrdoodle also there were a stretch where the Angels were above .500 too. They finished 21 games behind the Dodgers even though the Dodgers had one of the worst years with injuries/suspension ever recorded by a playoff tea. Bauer (he counts until off payroll),Buehler, Urias, May, Gonsolin (former allstar pitched all year with a torn UCL so he could collect his incentives), Kershaw (just had massive shoulder surgery), Lux (3.0 WAR player that will thrive with the banned shift), Pepiot (was only able to pitch for the last month of the year because of a back injury and was the Dodger best pitcher during that time). Most of these Dodgers players will be back soon
