This video is from the day race in group 4. This event, which runs one race in the daylight and one at night under lights, is unique and a total blast. Thanks to NER SCCA and everyone who made it happen!
The SSM class had eight cars at this race, which was a lot of fun. Racing against SSM cars is different from SSM vs SM, since our cars are evenly matched. It was awesome to have so many SSMs. If you're looking to get into road racing, SSM is a great class.
Qualifying was in the rain, and most of the SSM cars qualified in a cluster. I started P4 and had a terrific battle with SSM car No. 5 in the first half of the race. Then, I pushed hard to reel in the next two cars and caught up to the yellow car leading our class. That car lost its tail into T1, and we had some contact, which gave the grey car with the red roof, No. 86, a chance to slip by into P1. Half a lap later, the double yellows came out, and we finished under yellow. I was hoping for another battle with #86 to finish the race, but we had to wait for the night race to face off again.
Thanks to Peter at North Atlantic Racing Academy for the great car, and to my race coach @nathansaxonracing!
