American meets need to stop with the ribbon at the finish line. We just don't do that in world athletics anymore. They almost injured Tsegay with it.

I always wonder why the organizers put such a strong band when it is known that Athelestis reach this last stage after they have exhausted their energy. It seems that breaking the band is part of the competition, not sign of victory. So sad to see Atheletis struggling with it!

I liked it better when it was just a string. Now the sponsors need to get their names everywhere, even if it means possibly injuring a world record-holder. Disgusting.

Are we forgetting Keely Hodgkinson and Athing Mu? The UK also has a new Teen who just ran an amazing 800m time, it seems Teen runners in the middle distance races have been just on a whole other level in the past 6 or so years. Although it's not exactly uncommon, Tirunesh Dibaba and Eliud Kipchoge were world champions when juniors(Paris 2003, 5000m).
