I've been so pumped about this pick as a Habs fan, but seeing Steve absolutely hate how good it is for Montreal makes me happier than anything else I've seen. He is the blue chip franchise-level dynamo forward we've lacked my _entire_ life.

It's great validation. Every team thinks the world of their prospect, and when you see people who root for other teams and even rival franchises mention this about the future of your team it feels good.

I think the last trade there was a good move by the Oilers as well. They're running out of years to draft guys that can play with this core. And a lot ofvtheir key forwards are 31 or older, will need to be replaced when McDavid still has good years left.

Leafs are in deep trouble ! Horrid drafts since 2016 . Mother Hubbard's Cupboard has dust on the shelves . Strammel is the only guy worse than the Bingo Troll from the Knights picked ahead of him .

Top 3 NHL 2024 Draft Winners: 1. San Jose (even if we forget Celebrini, they still got probably the best overall defenseman of this draft in Dickinson at #11). 2.Montreal (managed to take one of the, if not THE, most electrifying forward in this draft with Demidov at #5, plus a potential top 6 centerman in Hage.) 3. Chicago. (they should have taken Demidov at #2, but they got a NHL-ready defenseman in Levshunov, and Boisvert will be a fantastic second center for them in a few years)

Leafs have plateaued. Not much uplift in the next 4 years. Rather than being the bottom of the top tier I wish they would rebuild. Low odds of building a Cup champion in the next 4 years

Jett luchanko youngest player in the draft. 70 points in the ohl last year. He’s probably going to score 100 this year and look like a steal.

@@Sec0ndusI don’t agree with them, but if you look some of the moves he made in Calgary it doesn’t surprise me he think that way. His 2 biggest mistakes were: Traded away a 1st with Monahan (who later got another 1st) and used the cap saved to sign Kadri to a deal that isn’t looking like they want to have and might have to attach a pick to get rid of. Signed Huberdeau to a stupid contract, even if Huberdeau went to 80-100 points in his 30 and 31 age season, giving that much money for that much time to someone that old is almost always a bad idea and a losing gamble. Then he fell off a cliff even harder than anyone thought possible, ruining their cap for 7 years after the one that just finished any playoff chance they had.
