This did not age well...Hyman leading playoff scoring....Keith was a stop gap for Bouchard who is leading D in playoff scoring and the Oilers 1 win away from a cup final...Smith was a stop gap for Skinner...and the Leafs...still no better off.
He ment by hes actually gunna have players....not just cry babies who get OVERPAID TO DO NOTHING.....atleast jack and luke WANNA GET BETTER...marner is 27...jr was 9yrs ago.....34 tried so hard for 70.. but gets sick and misses a game...players have broken BONES AND STILL PLAYED
Why would Sheldon Keefe even mention anything like that. No one probably even said it, he just wrote what he actually felt and hiding it with a white lie.
The thing that pisses ppl off about Nurse is, you get him p!ssed off enough? He turns into an animal, crushing hits, moving the puck with speed, and being an offensive threat. But then, there are the other 80 games every year.
Steve took the quote very much out of context I think. It is kinda left up to interpretation but I see it more like just saying that if you're on another NHL team (more so in the US) if you lose they don't crucify you or even care nearly as much so there's much less stress day in day out. Leafs fans will 100% praise their team to no end when good things are happening but can get extremely nasty when things go bad. The media there is definitely a circus show as well.
Steve is 100 percent correct. The NHL has always been a league with a niche mentality. What’s weird is seeing the journalists/ former players with media jobs say the same nonsense. They benefit the most from the fans passion & interest in the sport, yet they speak the same whiny drivel. Why don’t they quit their media gigs then? Do they think people are interested in their charming personalities & not the sport that they cover?
For Adam's disbelief that coaches are still willing to ally themselves with a person who says and does awful things, I'd like to introduce him to the entire Donald Trump voter base.
In a discussion about top coaches in the league right now, I'm not sure how you can leave Andrew Burnett out. He starts as a replacement in Florida and goes on to win the President's trophy. He leaves and Florida barely squeaks in as a playoff team, goes to New Jersey and takes a number four lottery team, turns them into a number two in the entire league, leaves Jersey, they fall back into a lottery team. Goes to Nashville who is expected to be bottom middle of the division and gets them in as the number one wild card and gets an Adams nomination for it as well. So clearly he needs to be on an extremely short list of anybody that we're talking about as a top coach in the league right now.
Trouba has his own "Rock 'em Sock Em" of throwing that flying Elbow to the head of Opponents... can you imagine this hit square on... there some where his whole body is extended and feet a couple feet off the ice with him leaping to throw that elbow.... think Scott stevens was a predator... Trouba is targeting the head by breaking every stipulation of what a suspension to contact to the head should be....
I think the team getting McDonagh back was a sign that Stamkos is staying. He wants to win now with this team and losing Mac was the biggest blow to our winning chances in the last 5 years.
I don't think Tampa's gonna win another cup man. Their peak was 2020. Just like Chicago it only goes down from their peak. There's other top contenders I'd pick over Tampa to win the cup now
And I'm not trying to hate I'm just being honest. That doesn't mean they won't be competitive.....just idk id pick other teams to win the cup over them.
Underrated coach is Kris Knoblauch(Bias) but he has outclassed Pete this series and has done an incredible job with the Oilers as a First time Head Coach I think.
Gary Bettman has handicapped Canadian franchises for decades with the salary cap. And he's used the refs to award cups to newer &/or weaker franchises in the south.
