Put Norris on the wing, Pinto can be C2 and Greig C3, Norris with his bad shoulder would benefit playing on the wing and not have to take faceoffs. so your top 6 would have Tkachuk, Stutzle, Giroux, Norris, Batherson and Pinto
Great point. Norris has so much term left on his contract that utilizing him in ways that keep him injury free while enhancing his goal scoring prowess is definitely something we need to explore.
I can't emphasize enough how dangerous it is to be a center with a bad shoulder. From faceoffs to positioning. He'd be best on the LW where he can always have his left shoulder away from direct contact
He took over 600 faceoffs this year and his injury is completely unrelated to the position he plays. I still wouldn't mind him on the wing, but his injury doesn't affect his ability to play center whatsoever.
I think this is the obvious decision. It means Joseph (or Tanev if they go that route) slots in on the third line instead of the 2nd and then you're just looking for a single middle six winger in free agency or in return for Chychrun. Much easier ask I think. If Vegas is still interested in Chychrun as has been rumored I wonder if you caan get something like Nicolas Roy and Zack Whitecloud back. Both are 27 and have 3 years left at a reasonable number.
I see their line-up looking something like this come opening night: Tkachuk - Stu - Giroux Norris - Pinto - Batherson (this line feels like a major defensive liability so not sure I love it, but definitely think Norris should go to the wing) ? - Greig - ? (one of these could certainly be Joseph, but it sounds likely they move him) Kelly - ? - Katchouk (Chartier? Ostapchuk? Different Wingers?) McEwan as 13th forward Sandy - Zub Chabot - ? (Tanev, Carrier or Roy would be great UFAs, but Branny did play very well with Chabot last year) ? - Branny (maybe Kleven is ready, someone like Joel Edmundson could be a good veteran leader but likely too expensive) JBD as the 7th D If you assume Chychrun is getting traded they have about ~16M in cap space to work with, ~16.5 M if they buy out Hamonic, up to 19.5 M if you also assume Joseph is getting traded. Probably breaks down something like this: 4M for Pinto, 4.5M for 2nd pair RHD, 5M for 3rd line wingers, 3M for fourth line, 3M for third pair. Things get dicey if Pinto comes in at 5M instead of 4 or if the 2nd pair RHD comes in a little higher. It makes me think they may try and move Forsberg to get a cheaper back-up option if they have the chance for just a little extra flexibility.
Sorry if you mention this in the video, havent watched yet. Senators weren't on Ullmarks no trade list so he didnt actually wave it. Do you think this is because: A: He wouldnt mind if he got traded here B: He never thought he would get traded here since korpisolo just signed a 5 year deal when he made it. I think it's B and that concerns me with an extension because maybe he doesn't actually want to be here.
One of the best lines from Mass Effect 2 “So the guy who cleans the toilets prepares the food?” “Yup, you could say I do all those jobs that fall through the cracks.”
With the Kastelic move, it seems to me that it makes sense for the team to sign a veteran 4C making a little less than $2MM, then letting the prospects fight for that last spot. Cap wise would still allow for a pretty cheap 4th line
Depending how the trial goes, getting Formenton back would help address the winger position. He would have to sign cheap, and it wouldn't be popular, but to win, sometimes unpopular decisions need to be made. He would be an upgrade on Joseph, although I like Joseph but he is overpaid by 500k and is inconsistent offensively
What about Hakanpaa from Stars? He’s a ufa, cheap, 6’7 230. Not a point getter but a plus player. His possession stats suck but paired with a skater and puck mover like Branny could be a good fit. I think he made 1.5 last contract
As someone who practices at the Sensplex playing house, and has seen the Sens practice there, We do indeed use the same changerooms. I don't know whether it's funny or just sad. lmao
Man.. seeing this depth board really hurts. I don’t like many people there. Pinto is a must, that’s obvious. But apart from him? I think only Crook and Ostapachuk have a real chance.. to think Dorion picked Jarventie over Stutzle’s buddy Peterka is head shaking. It’s gonna be hard to fill all the holes. That’s why I want Sens to grab Catton at the draft.. we need some legit playmaking inserted, especially once Giroux gets on.
The Chabot hate is ridiculous. You always see a huge difference with puck possession when he's in the lineup or not. Less ice time would help him a hell of a lot
Totally agree. Was reading a Philly article about guys they’re interested in from Ottawa and they had Chabot as their unicorn. Even with his injures they would love him. He’s as good or better than Bouchard, maybe minus the big shot. Expect him to have a great season next year. Just got to find him a solid dance partner
Oh and I came across a Leaf fan group on FB and even they were saying that this trade was highway robbery and were criticizing Treliving for not doing anything goalie wise
Would love to hear from you both what kind of return you’d be looking for Chabot. I’m in the camp of moving him but I’ve also thought that they might be beyond their prime considering assets coming back. $10M for a dman who has put up above avg ppg but is a consistent liability on defence is a frightening thought for a gm. Personally, I’d be ok with a mid-late 1st in return but what he means to the team I feel like he’ll be part of a package so his value doesn’t get shot.
Do you think that Norris will ever play centre again? I truly hope he can come back as a high-end centre, but the odds are that he'll never live up to his $8M contract at this point from my perspective.
