Had mine for 8 months now, absolutely love the car and agree with your comments. Surprised I don’t see as many on the road. Looked at the Sportage and Tuscan but the Austral won hands down just an all round better vehicle, fit, finish, tech and internal environment. Drives beautifully and I have never been in a situation where I wanted or needed more power. Around town it drives mostly in full electric mode, not as much when the temperature is low and with heating on. The only criticism I have is occasionally when switching from electric to the petrol engine, the 3 cylinder engine note is not particularly attractive until the gearbox determines best combination to be in. I understand from my dealer a software update will be forthcoming shortly to further refine this. But this a small criticism on what is an all round brilliant SUV that just puts a smile on my face every time I get behind the wheel. Just absolutely love the car whether driving around town, country roads or motorways.

why should you buy a car that has really bad noise isollation on highway, bad plastics inside, bad reliability, and a really high price tag? Also, the 1.2 3cyl it's really bad because of high shaking. I have a ford 1.0 ecoboost which it's superior to this 1.2 from Renault. The steering wheel it's really bad with alcantara and leather, in 2 years it'll look awful. The trasmission it's shaky, the car it's full of piano black, it's a big no for me, Ford Kuga it's superior if we exclude the infotainment which it's superior on the renault.

@@MrRobi10 Interesting, my neighbour has a Ford Kuga who is moving to an Austral when his lease expires stating that he wished it was available when he commenced his lease on the Kuga. I also don’t recognise your description of the Austral, it’s not missed a beat in 8 months of ownership, the engine shake is non existent, the cabin you describe I don’t recognise unless it’s the base model you refer to as I can’t comment on that, the alcantara is it at the base of the steering wheel so depends on how you hold the wheel, noise isolation has not been an issue on varied driving conditions although the large wing mirrors can produce some wind noise but not really intrusive you also forgot to mention the HUD and matrix headlights standard on all UK variants. Of all the reviews I have seen on you tube and in the press you appear to manufacture issues that don’t exist. If your happy with your Kuga, fine but the only Kuga owner I know is changing to an Austral. Read into that what you like.

To be mentioned that: - the trip computer is not very accurate on Austral. The actual consumption calculated at the gas pump is higher and in average is about 0,4L more than the one displayed by the car. - you went with the ventilation off, which is good for consumption but not really recommended especially on a longer journey. - the engine was probably already warm when started the test, which helped a bit the average consumption. For me, the real combined fuel average for Austral in ~ 5000km is about 6,5-7 L/100km.

Every car I've driven shows 3-5dl less than the actual consumption, why I never take tests seriously unless it's at the pump and then simple math.

Do you think it is possible to make the suspension softer in a Renault authorized service?

Hmmm. Driving in -32 degrees celsius the worst that I got was 6.8l/100 which was quite impressive compared with any car in such extreme weather. You really must have been pumping the has pedal and used the sport-mode. 👍

It's interesting that Arkana have consuption 5.2l in 12C and much more traffic and slow driving and Austral at 18C, more hight speed and much weighest car is with similar consumption- 5.5l. Good result for Austral

do you austral owners find the petrol engine is noisy when ticking over and also the gearbox doesnt seem to change up the gears fast enough causing over revving ?

All this technology, hybrid motor, electric drive - but still nowhere near the fuel efficiency of a modern diesel engine. Renault Clio, 1.5 dCI, 3,4 LT/100km. They should have invested research and development efforts into cleaner diesel engines instead of banning them.
@Uzaair
@Uzaair 3 месяца назад
Clio weighs a lot less compared to this. Btw, diesel economy plummets during city driving. If most of your driving is in low speed stop/start city traffic, then a hybrid is the smarter choice

I don't understand why you're saying that this car it's great(,,it's a pretty good car"), when the confort doesn't exists due to bad suspension and low noise isolation? it has a lot of minuses for the big price tag... 1) Full of piano black and cheap plastic; 2) Steering wheel with leather and alcantara leather it's not a great combination, in 2 years this will look awfult, the same thing for the dash, it'll be full of dust... ; 3) Road noise after 70km/h it's really huge, this car it's good only for city driving and that's it, if you're driving it on a highway, the noise cancellation doesn't exist... ; 4) Suspension it's really stiff, you feel every pothole in the cabin. ; 4) 1.2 cyl it's noisy and you can feel it when it's starting due to random shakes, the 1.0 ecoboost from Ford doesn't have this behaviour; 5) Resale value will be really low; 6) A lot of software/HW issues that needs to be solved. I would say that in the 40k euro budget, the Ford Kuga PHEV it's the best option, you can't find another SUV with the specs of this car. I tried to purchase a KIa Sportage PHEV, but it was 48k, and the HEV version was 42k which was a really huge price for what that car was offering... Don't get me wrong, this car looks awesome on the exterior and on the interior with that Google tech, but with the annoying things that I enumerated, it's a big no.

Dude where you heard about software problems cuz it’s something new for me. Engine isn’t noisy 90% of a ride time. Dunno how you calculate already low resale price when it’s new model. I can agree with bad suspension, noise isolation is bad only when we’re driving above 140km/h. If you don’t like alcantara you can get cheaper iconic version which is better in my opinion

The 1.0 ecoboost is a mild hybrid though, so does not run on electric only at any point.
