Apparently when the Germans saw the piper who landed on D day they refused to shoot him, even though he was a sitting duck , because they respected his bravery.
every year, since 2000, I wait of this moment to be part of the deep feeling in my heart an the gooseskin! Make music, not war for all soldiers in the world.
I went last Wednesday & loved every second even tho we had rain & high winds I’d not miss it for anything well done to you all & here’s to next year special year as well ❤
Chills! My maiden name is Wallace and was so excited when our older daughter and I went to UK especially driving across Scotland. Visited the Wallace Monument in Stirling. Beautiful country, beautiful people and hope to return one day.
Was there last year great show great bands there is just something about the pipes when a was a kid hated them my dad was in the highland light infantry l get it now dad 😊
Lots of kiwis are Scottish even just a wee bit. We both have grandies. They wont give me brodie Castle. Grandma would be sooooo upset. Hubby family from Motherwell. Four days wasnt enough. It's in your bones. So pleased we saw this. The castle in red wine is/was stunning
Lucky to have attended more than one ! first time we had to catch a train and tried to sneak out early. WE were stopped by a soldier who commanded us that we would not move while they played God save the Queen
I went to Scotland in June, I am of the MacKay clan, and was sad to miss this. It was not on a our scheduled trip package! But, it just gave me a very good reason to plan another visit to this great land. I just might wear my kilt next time as well! After all, once a Scot, always a Scot, aye laddie??❤❤❤
My goodness wasn't it cold myself + 10 family members were there too on the 7th it said 13° felt more like 6 lol, it was well worth it especially the flypast with the typhoon 👌
When the massed pipes and drums started up the national anthem ( Scotland the Brave) it makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up and your heart beat a wee bit faster .
I'm such a proud Scot, was this televised on bbc? I feel so stupid. I lost my Auntie so not been all there. When was this on TV? I was so upset I missed this. 💔😞🏴
@@Afc1983 What's wrong with that is it detracts from the music. I'd prefer to listen to the bands, the clapping is intrusive. Seems to be a minority view , granted , but keeps me away.
@@desfletch Stay away then, it's the only time there is clapping for gods sake, but like i said already, stay away I'm sure no one will care if you do, cheerio now 👍🏴🏴🏴🏴
How can a government like the Tories organise such an event. Yet spread soo much hatred. Because that must have taken over a year to plan. And yet all that pronoun stuff, & shared toilets, the 20 mph speed limit, and child friendly zones where kids can play for an hour or two. Still came from them, as they tore this nation apart. Because I have never seen us as Scotland, Wales, Ireland, & England. I have always seen us as the United Kingdom, and when people ask me where I am from, that is what I say. I am from the United Kingdom.
Man. Look at all those rioters! England has rioters that smash up shops, hotels etc. Meanwhile here in Scotland our 'rioters' consist of awesome pipe bands playing incredible music.😍 Gie me a 'riot' like this in Scotland any day of the week.🤣
The English are rioting to try and save our culture, that includes Scottish, Welsh and English culture, tragically too many people are still asleep to the horror coming this country’s way 🇬🇧🇺🇸🇮🇱
Please take into consideration the mass pipes and drums are now a " MINOR " part of the tattoo and your subjected to a 3rd rate song and dance routine from a American chap & a chubby American girl prancing around the parade square leaving you bemused. The new producers of the show have included 80% diversity acts with some tradition thrown in. Only the pipes saved this show from being awful.
At least the finale was up to standard the rest rubbish, with women prancing around and all sorts of non military activities taking place. Not as it was in the 1980's when I went to see it.
@@mikeevans9014Why are you shouting? Everyone should be entitled to their opinion, otherwise the term of free speech goes out of the window. For what it is worth, this was my first ever EMT, and I had been looking forward to it for a long time, in the event I was left quite disappointed, and sad that this event has become a victim of "dumbing down" and "inclusivity"
