That’s only $30 more a month. Big deal! Everyday, prices go up in grocery stores, at the gas pump, my rent went up $36 a month and I’m on a disability. One day, my younger sister offered to take me in to live with her, in the event I lose my apartment. I pray, the Good Lord will take me home soon before our already troubled world gets much worse.

I hate it I became paralyzed 2 yrs ago and now my husband basically has to stay home to care for me we have 3 kids 2 who have the same health issues I do nf1 one is basically blind in one of their eyes and the other has hearing issues in the right ear or oldest got lucky and don't have the health issues. The average person on SSI or SSDI is barely making it. They don’t qualify for food stamps or barely get any. I think if your on disability the government should automatically give you snap to the disabled no matter what your income is from them. Obviously you disabled for a reason. They should not have to decide with their disability check if I’m buying groceries or paying for my medication or not pay rent because it is not enough. A increase makes you also loose all other benefits.

Social Security is giving out a massive raise in 2024 of a whole $30.00 on average. Of course part B is going up 10 bucks and plan G will automatically go up and of course all that massive increase is taxable.
I’m blessed my husband’s insurance reimburse him for my Medicare premium. He even ended up getting $257 added to his pension. When I started Medicare. I should have switched years ago. I started receiving SSDI at age 50.
Great, just great. Every time SS is raised, SNAP benefits are lowered. Last time they did this, SNAP went from $148/mo to $88/mo or roughly $2.90/day. Can't wait for the changes, whoopee! May be able to eat once a week. SMH

I have been on SSDI since awarded both SSI & SSDI in 2006. Of course, the lesser of the payout was granted. The COLA, was usually 30-40 increase, then for 6 yrs. nothing. Then started again getting the 30-40 increase, but every yr. housing rent increase took that and more of income. Didn't matter how much, 1, 2 or 3 percent increase in my SSDI it was not helping with cost of living. My monthly income is far below the poverty income level for the year. But if I change from SSDI to collect SSI retirement, I'd get $ 100 less. Sucks that a person can't draw both.
Whoopie 3.2% increase well that means snap benefits decreases or may lose snap because 3.2 % increase put you over your maximum income to qualify, medicare part B increases, if in subsidized or section 8 housing rent increases. So there u have it folks. Smh

Last year they raised it $40. And because of that, I lost my $200 in food stamps. Because they never raise that amount You're allowed to make so I got screwed Out of $160. Now they are raising at forty dollars more and because of this I will now lose my $230 a month for low-income. Because now I'm above low-income. Because they never raise that bracket whenever they give out. These raises this should be illegal. So I got an extra eighty dollars but lost four hundred and thirty dollars. Because I'm no longer in that bracket. Because they say you can make up to 1500 a month. I am not allowed to work neither so this all comes from the state. So you go above that now? You don't qualify because they never bother to raise the other bracket. So now all the old people and disabled people get screwed. I also have to pay for things now that I used to get for free because I was considered low income. They never raise the low-income bracket so they can screw people out of the money and I paid for this I'm on SSDI I worked For this money they're screwing me out of. I'm not on ssi taking a free ride.
Social Security: Gave a raise of 2.3% to the Americans across the board! According to the polls the cost of living went up 7.8% according to the stats! So example if you had a $908 monthly check you received a raise of $21 that does NOT come out to 7.8 to compensate for the rise in cost of living! The amount of the raise to compensate for the rise of the cost of living should have been $71. 00 Not the insulting $21.00 2.3% raise to the rise of living 7.8 insulting Ukraine unfortunately got it!

3% is only slightly less of a slap in the face as 2.7%…… SSA is a promise to workers. And, in usual form, the federal government is breaking their promise. The 160k / 9k cap must be raised. Even if 6% is too much for Republican congressmen and corporate billionaires to pay, even a 3% increase by everyone making over 160k would give seniors, veterans and the disabled a dignified standard of living. And, before some halfwit comments about “you should have had your 401k supplement your retirement”, remember what happened in 2008? My wife’s 403B has never recovered from that hit. She went from 200k in her account to 42k. In a matter of months. In a nation that sees unions as evil, and pensions are just a fairy tale, SSA is the only backstop MOST Americans have to keep from dying penniless, on the street. We must do better. Our wealthy got wealthy by the grace of living in THIS nation. Time to give back.

What gets me any any politician that advocates for decreasing SSA should be made public furthermore each and every single person in America should ask why is billions n billions being spent on non Americans n at same time talk bout cutting benefits from those who paid into this fund! Y not impose a percentage of any foreign aid any defense budget and or bailouts be placed in a fund for SSA n these funds should not to be used for anything for a period of 5 years at which time increases be awarded dental n eye care to those on SSA !?
