Wanted to give everyone a quick shop update and tour since my last video. We have been hard at work finishing the shop and bringing in some new equipment. Let me know if you have any questions and as always, appreciate you tuning in!

I have the same story! I'm about a year behind you, but it is really encouraging to watch and hear your thought process on different parts of the shop. I'm at the insulation stage of my new building, and I'm getting really excited about bringing in my tools and making furniture again! keep it up! P.S. Our wives sound very similar! 🤣

Love to hear it and wish you the best of luck! It’s always a fine line, keeping the wife happy and spending time in the shop 😂

Nice shop. I have the same DC and it is supposed to be good for 2-3 tools. I figured with my CNC (Avid 4x8) running, I could have some other tool going and be fine. One suggestion is to consider moving your miter saw station away from the wall so you can utilize your limited wall area. I had the same issue and initially was planning to put the station along a wall but then figured I could put it out along the edge of the shop area where there was no wall. Jackman Makes has plans for a modular miter saw station with lower and upper cabinets. I bought those plans and will alter a little for my situation. I want the miter saw surface to be same height as my bandsaw table. You will get all the benefit of storage in the cabinets but still have all that wall space. I am also doing a paint room (12x12). Just waterbased finishes. I am considering how to implement radiant heat panels to speed up drying process and am also putting in a mini-spiit so I can paint year round. A nice convenience is the iVAC automatic blast gate system. Your Oneida will need a new relay box but it will all work great. You have to contact iVAC about the relay box, as they don't list it. Just email them and they'll send the schematics. I have eight 6-inch auto blast gates and it works great. I'm retired twice and now starting a WW business as well. Good luck on your endeavors!

Appreciate all the recommendations. I am thinking about moving my miter saw station as you recommended. Good luck to you as well!

I just received this same machine last weekend. I’m super interested in how you added the pop up pins to the phenolic top! If you wouldn’t mind sharing that would be awesome.

So you do this all as a side gig? Your in IT? I'm in IT and I drive of your setup. I'm in a third car stall and half my festool gear in my unfinished basement..lol

I appreciate the kind words. I started out in my third car garage a little over five years ago. My wife and I both work in IT. We live off our day jobs and I have reinvested everything I’ve made from woodworking back into the business.

Thanks for sharing! I'm in a very similar boat and would love to have a ShopSabre cnc someday (have also thought about Avid cnc as well so the investment is not as great). I have also used Mozaik but yeah the monthly payment is costly so I'm using Fusion 360 now. One question, where did you get that plywood rack from?

I also looked at Avid but the Shop Sabre technical support sealed the deal for me. Also adding an ATC and vacuum bed to the Avid would have been a project. I actually purchased the lumber rack on Facebook marketplace. It was an 8’ tall pallet rack that someone had cut the vertical posts in half.

I'm always curious what an electrical bill looks like with an operation this size... would you mind sharing?

I’ll let you know in one to two weeks once I get my January bill 😅. January was our first month with the electric boiler on. Our shop and house are on the same meter but should be able to look at past years for the house alone to give you an accurate estimate.

Hows the RC-8? I'm looking at getting one for cutting out cabinet parts and am wondering what the accuracy and speed is like.

RC-8 with ATC, 5hp spindle, and vacuum bed is more than capable. I have had no issues with accuracy and can crank out entire built ins in an hour or less. Biggest thing is having someone there to help you load and unload stock.
