Update Video: • Dumpster Rental Busine... 2021 Side hustle for some extra cash? Check out my buddies roll off dumpster business! Clayton's Channel: / @rollingops
Good luck hope nothing bad ever comes your way it sucks when someone gives you the heads up do you really think big corporations don't smash morons like you?
Clayton makes a good point about the added expense of a dump trailer. Insurance, licensing, Brakes & tires, etc. whereas a dumpster has minimal upkeep expense
@@WalshStrategy Especially if you in crouch into a Tony Sopranos types territory. “from now on you work for me; 60-40, my associate Polly going stop by weekly make sure no one gives you any problems”. They make it seem like they’re doing you a favor lol 😂
Clear and to the point. I'm familiar with this type of operation and everything he said was true. Also like how he never gave you a number on what he actually earns. Smart man!
Great job Clayton I’ve been doing dumpster rentals for just over 3yrs started with a dump trailer and now up to 5 dumpsters there’s not many small guys out here so we can make out good we just started loading the trailer ourselves that’s been working out real good load and go sometimes we can do 4a day best of luck bro keep it going
Good job on the cummins buy that truck will make you money 50x over and never quit. That's all I buy for company trucks is cummins, some over our trucks have 800,000 miles still running crews! Keep up good job brother
Thinking about start doing this once I get the money to purchase the trailer and dump. I’m 17 and work masonry laying brick on Wednesday Friday and Saturday because I’m homeschooled but go to a place to get my assignments the other days. I would like to do this after school or Saturdays. I have done something close to this. My math teacher runs one of these small companies with dump trailers. But he and a team Loads the trash. And I don’t want to step anyones toes starting a similar side hussle with my ram 2500.
This isn't a side hustle it's a full time job making someone good money working in less time. Your buddy Clayton is a hustler and him carrying two jobs is something few people can handle. He said it himself, with the time and the funds he could easily do it all day every day. Best of luck to him, its good to see someone taking charge of their own destiny and doing well at it.
If you start doing this long enough in NY your going to eventually meet a guy thats going to let you know that he's going to be your new business partner. His job will be to count the money in the envelope you give him every month and keep you from getting hurt and ending up in a dumpster. Your new job is giving him a cut of your dumpster business and keep yourself from being buried in a landfill in Jersey.
I know a fella down the road that has been doing this 4 or 5 years now. He’s doing good with it. Only issue, the landfill sometimes gets on him for having mixed waste like steel and wood. They want it separated. The landfill doesn’t hassle the big operators about it, but they do with this guy.
Landfill? Where would I need to know more about this in Oregon ? Thanks for the information in advance. Good question ! I like to know what I’m up against in starting something new
When the big companies come in with their large roll offs and trash trucks, they just dump & leave. The smaller independent guys, and the general public the landfill wants the materials separated. Steel, wood, mattresses, etc. The purpose is to keep the “recyclables “ out of the landfill. I guess the county figures the big companies have no control over what their customers put in the dumpsters ?
Stock investing is 99% temperament and 1% knowledge.that is , even after you have done full research and pin pointed on a name, you still get 1/100. Focus on 99! that's where you differentiate between the best and the rest.
Most people seek instant gratification, which is doesn't go well. So set goals 1-2 years out instead months out, and you are likely be much more satisfied with the results.
“””I was trading on my own, I barely made anything from the market always FUD at every little dip untill a friend that works at fidelityinvestments recommended a financial advisor that has managed my portfolio from $70k to $124k in 8 months.
I got the same set up different truck with 6 of the 14 yards and am steadily making 1500-2k a week and occasionally having a good week and have made 3-5 thousand that’s after paying for everything I take in a lot more
im in a very similar situation as him where i have a work from home and have been trying to figure out how this would workk for me for the past 2 months and your video was very helpful and defnitely find his situation close to home
@@armobyzantine5881 sometimes they fill it up and want another replaced at the same time.. this was back in the early 2000’s when I had these experiences.
Only problem in my area waste management like dumpsters is controlled by the mob ! You can stay small but the minute you go on to their radar its a problem! But I have been considering doing it like this small and residential . Straight to the home owner . Problem is they run the recycling/ dumps so its tough to hide .
speaking as a guy who has a hook lift truck that I use for landscaping - the disposal business really does suck due to the glut of competition; hi dump fees and DOT.
I agree. I had a roll-off business (10, 13, 15, and 20 yard containers). When the dump fees are doubled real quick and fuel prices are high, you really notice it. And all the competitors do low-balling...Then you had to have commercial insurance and general liability insurance. And so on.
Hustle Hard. Like how you kept your biz model simple; used debt wisely; and are now in position to scale up. Are any Hazmat/CDL (weight restrictions) required?
I just started a roll off business. This is so cool to see! I rent my 12 yarders for $300 and 16 yarders for $400. I think udump makes a better setup and is universal.
Expand to 10 cities. Find people who want to start a business and finance these dumpsters to them. Take in applications and choose one person in each city. Take a cut from each rental and build a dumpster empire.
I guess it depends where yo live, I rented one from a huge trash company for a roof tear off, for 250 dollars no time limit when to pick up, You started your business right put all the profit in paying of the equipment..
First of all, awesome job, and great advice! But the trailer is about $12k++alone then another $300-$500 for the canisters, so it would be safe to say, is probably about $15k to get started.
Steel has skyrocketed. 20 yard dumpsters are 6k each now. Commercial insurance on a f450 is about $1,700 a year, 19" tires are very expensive. You will need a CDL if you get a very heavy set up. This guys set up looks very lite duty.
Great gig, but should have told us as you grow where are you storing multiple 10-20yrd containers/trailers?? If it’s land/yard space what are rental costs associated with that? Where I’m at biggest expense around is finding/renting space for equipment.
I bought a garbage truck f550 with a rear packer. I think i will sell it for 30k and get a trailer like this with a flatbed that i can pull a truck or van on to also.
Where do you store the dumpsters in between times when renting them out? I'm sure you cannot rent every dumpster out everyday. And most homeowners communities won't allow you to store them in your land.
Do you ever operate over in Joplin? My wife and I started an excavation business here in the sarcoxie area between joplin and Springfield and it wouldn't be a terrible addition to our business. I wouldn't want to interfere with your operation in any way though. I'll certainly keep you in mind if I need a roll off on a jobsite. Keep up the good work!
nice. but how do you maintain the dumpsters? i used to build them, i fixed them and i even built the bigger trucks that pick them up and drop them off. kind of went full circle with that industry. they need to be fixed, especially the rollers and that can be very expensive.
I need a 10 yd bin to remove some soil. 600 here for 2 weeks. There is something about soil that shoots the price up. Only one dump will take it. Crazy.
Where are you dumping and what percentage of the revenue do you spend on the fee? Critical piece of information missing, considering that in my area the dump would be 150 that makes it much less lucrative than a place where the dump fee is 30.
@@salvadorrosas1981 wow! That would be nice, around here it's about 7 cents a lb, doesn't sound like much but if you have got a full dump bin, say 2 tons then it's close to $300 after tax!
@@salvadorrosas1981 Guarantee it's not free for the size and frequency of loads a business like this brings in... Maybe it's free for residential customers, but not a business with bulk.
I do small excavating.Instead of buying a dump truck,i built a hook and bought some bins also.Good passive income while excavating.HOOKLIFT trucks do it all!
That's a good hustle you were mentioning the big companies waste Management is the largest I worked for Republic services 20 years Union that was a good gig I drove transfer trucks sludge I mostly drove semis for them occasionally I would do roloff the money they made when I left there I was making 32 an hour and they were putting $11 an hour into my pension retirement when I would do roll off they would give us like a manifest it would have 10 pickups 10 dropswe had to cross the scale at the transfer station at least 10 times in our 10 hour shift the manifest we could pick up how we wanted to I would start at the farthest out and work my way back in so when I was getting closer to the end of my shift I'd be close to the transfer station
By all rights you are a motor carrier and that makes you subjected to DOT what kind of carrier number are you using to operate your business. Granted they are your dumpsters but you rent them out the means you are a transportation company and I'm sure you need $1,000,000 liability policy for insurance
Yes on the insurance, yes on the DOT. I have magnets that have my number on it. We picked this load up right y my house so I forgot to slap them on the truck.
I never heard you mention how you dispose of the trash. Here I would dump at the landfill for around $40 a ton. Is this similar to what you see around you?
So how do you do the drop off and pickups for 1 dumpster for 1 day? Do you give the customer a full 24hours with the dumpster? So like Monday you drop it off at 7am and then pick it up at 7am on Tuesday. But if you have someone that wants it Tuesday you still have to go dump it before you get it to them. By the time Saturday comes you would be dropping a one day off at like 2-3 pm. This is just saying you only have 1 dumpster and 6 different people want it for one day. Sorry so long just wandering very interested in starting something up in Indiana.
The containers are junk buy the time you pay that price per dumpster you get maybe 2 or 3 out of them cheap dumpsters buy right and they will last 15 years keep that in mind
