2024 Spring Home Tour 

I am 68 years old. I have never followed what the style gurus decide is all the rage. My children slept in bedroom furniture from our grandparents homes. They had a designated place for toys. The one time I caved and let my daughter have pink walls in her bedroom, we repainted to off-white in a few years time because she outgrew it. Your home is wonderful. You are blessed to have such wonderful family heirlooms. Your show is special because you make a glorious home with a budget in mind. If I were you, the minute I felt negative vibes in a comment, I would stop reading and delete it. Bless you and keep you and your precious family.

Your nursery is timeless and classic. Some people prefer trendy and kitschy. The old-fashioned decor in your century farmhouse is appropriate and a daily reminder to live simply.

Mom always said, "If you can't say anything nice (helpful) don't say anything at all". We all need to practice this more often. I think the room turned out cute and so comfortable for children. Thank you so much for what you share.

I think your daughter's room is absolutely charming and timeless. Some people think, that unless there is lots of pink, Barbie's and insane amount of plastic toys it's not children's room.

Kristen it is your home and don’t worry about what others think. Your home is for you to love and enjoy. I love green and pink I think it looks so dainty. You should be proud of the room. Wow! I haven't commented in awhile but couldn't let this slip by. Listen Kristen, you are one the most beautiful, honest, transparent, light-hearted, spirited, funny of all! You absolutely owe NO one an explanation for how you choose to decorate your home! This is why so many people feel the need to be something they are not, and they live unhappy because they are afraid to be authentic. Stay true to yourself and to your decorating style. I'll be honest, one of the reasons I like your channel so much is that your style is unique. No surprise your choice for your kids' room is not conventional. You just keep doing you, and demonstrate to your girls how lovely a home can be.

My Mom always said (to her family of five daughters!), "If you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all." Let some of the naysayers live in a 100 year old house, and they might better understand how and why you live like you do (and I do). They might have handed you lemons, but God helped you to make lemonade with the lessons learned and the beautiful story of the "toile fabric". How amazing and faithful HE is with that blessing! We all like different color combinations, different styles and who are we to criticize the hard work of a mother trying to make her and her family's home inviting, relaxing and happy along with taking items that others have tossed aside and give them new life. I can just imagine your children coming home from school and having an after school snack in your cozy kitchen. Your girls’ bedroom is so special with well thought out heirloom pieces, reminiscent of another time. I have been an early childhood educator/admin for many years, I would have loved all the children I have known to come from a family such as yours. For perspective, right now I know a child that has no bedroom and is sleeping on her living room couch. It’s the love in the home that matters the most and the wellbeing of the family. Hi Kristen, I never make comments but I just wanted to come on and commend you for posting this video and standing your ground when it comes to doing what pleases you. Of all the decorating videos I watch, yours is the most original and real. Anyone can copycat someone else's style but you do what makes you happy. I always say that if you can wake up everyday and smile then you're doing ok. Any other opinion is not needed. Your girls have a fine example of a great momma. Keep living for the Lord.

This is Grandma from Texas. Everything is so lovely. Thank you for sharing. I have NEVER styled my home by what is trending etc. I’m 71 years old and have seen trends come and go. When my first granddaughter was born I bought a crystal chandelier for her room instead of typical baby girl nursery lighting. One of the sweet memories I have of her is standing under the shining glimmering lights dancing through prisms of color. Back then no one was putting chandeliers in nurseries. Now it is common place,, 😘Your sense of style is unique and very very lovely just as you yourself are. Im not worried about you. You will be fine and stronger. Kristin, I don’t normally comment on any videos, but I was doing the dishes and watching this and I just want to tell you that I’m SO proud of you!! In my 20s and 30s I really cared more than I should have about others opinions. I’m currently 47 and it was really after I turned 40 that I stopped caring as much and I’m so happy that you didn’t give your peace and joy away and you are standing firm for what’s best for you and your family!! Just because someone else wouldn’t decorate that way doesn’t mean it’s wrong. It would be so boring if we all had pottery barn homes. I love your style!! Hi Kristen, it really upset me that people criticised the beautiful bedroom makeover you carried out. It is your home and you do whatever you want to your home. When I was a child I shared a bedroom with four of my brothers and sisters. There were only beds and chests of drawers in the room. It was a room for sleeping in and we all slept well after our wonderful mother said a prayer with us and kissed us goodnight. I have six older brothers and sisters too and they all had their own bedrooms and there was only a bed and a chest of drawers or a wardrobe in their bedrooms. We played outside or in the loungeroom - never ever in a bedroom. I absolutely love your videos. You give me so much inspiration and joy. Keep up the great work of giving your family all your love and kindness.

Hi Kristen. The Spring Home Tour looks great and so does Ivys room/nursery. I'm sorry you received negative comments. It's sad people are ridiculous and petty for no reason. People don't realize there are kids in this country dealing with neglect, abuse, food insecurities, domestic violence, parents are incarcerated and parents with substance abuse. It's so nice to see a home filled with personality from things you love. Most houses on decorating/thrifting videos have the same look, full of shades of tan and white, white dishes, pale paint and rugs, and those overdone wall signs about love and family. Your house has something unique and interesting everywhere you look. You can tell your things were chosen because you love them, not because they're trendy and like everyone else's decor. My grandparents, my parents, myself, my daughter and now granddaughter have a room just like this one that we grown into, loved, rested and cherished for all our lives. We did not have TV in our rooms but tons of books, piano, arts and lots of laughs! I love the flow of your home; there’s no “design whiplash” as you go through the rooms. A friend of mine had a style slightly similar to yours and her girls’ rooms weren’t in-your-face “I’m a little child’s room!” Those girls loved their bedrooms. I love that you have a playroom and that the amount of toys can be reduced in their rooms. That’s logical and conducive to their rooms being the place for sleeping, dressing, reading, praying and dreaming. For what it’s worth, I love your children’s rooms. I love how beautiful it looks without screaming “nursery”. I want an Anne of Green Gables style of room for my two little daughters and your room makes me think of that. Amen Sister! You nailed it. This past year I did a study on the churches Paul set up. One thing I about Brother Paul, he worked as he traveled to take care of his needs. He didn’t rely on the churches to give him money. He had a heart for what he was chosen to do. When we finally realize that God is the one that gives us our needs, then we can rest in his presence and enjoy the peace and joy he gives us. Not worried about what this world has to say or what it’s doing. Living our best life despite of this world because we follow Christ . Much love to you and your family❤. As a small channel, I was lucky to not receive too much negativity on my daughter’s room tour I did several years ago. It’s dark green with curated collected vintage and antiques. I appreciate a room a child can grow into regardless of the color. There is a place for everything and she’s just fine not having pink walls (she chose green and to go dark with her room as a child so I made it happen). Who cares what the naysayers say! Kristen, Your home is so beautiful! There are so many people that can be negative in this world and I feel sorry for them. They are missing the joy of being happy and grateful for what God has given to all of us. Having a nice home takes work and effort. Not a lot of money. My husband and 2 boys came from nothing and I went to a ton of garage sales and even picked up things that were free on the side of the road for our home. Now as we are older we are so blessed to have what we have. Keep being you, I love your channel and your positiveness , You are a sweet and caring person.
