Priced at just over $36K with destination, is the new BRZ tS with its Brembo brakes and Hitachi dampers really worth almost $3K more than a Limited trim BRZ?

I bought the tS and simply added front camber bolts, DOT 4 brake fluid and HP+ front pads to make an awesome and fun track 'play day' car as well as a practical daily driver. So much more usable than my AP1 S2000 track modified car.

While I haven't had the chance to take mine (GR86 Trueno Edition) to the track, I can tell you that the extra 4-5k CAD over the previous top trim is well worth it IF you plan to keep the car relatively stock. The Brembos have amazing braking feel and the red interior feels special enough. I don't mind the Eyesight system as it doesn't interfere with steering.

Sorry bro. I disagree this time. This BRZ ts model just ain't special enough to justify the $$price tag. It also lives in the shadows of the previous Gen.1 2018 BRZ ts .subaru did try making somthing special there. This new BRZ ts is just a lazy product from Subaru. Just my opinion of course. Great Content as always!😎

Have you driven a gen2 BRZ? Way more torque and no dip. But if you want decent brakes your over $2500. Another $500 for springs. I'd rather have a factory engineered system than aftermarket.

@@user-vz9tz3wg4s I found the Gen 2 much softer that a Gen 1, but the extra power was much appreciated. Was a fun car while I had it though. Just finished the video. This offering is definitely better price wise than the Gen 1. I would say it's worth it if you're going to track your car.
@Gurka84
@Gurka84 27 дней назад
You are right it is a lazy product from Subaru that they probably had to spend like 10 men hours at best to create but fortunately the pricing over the limited it worth it since it will cost you more to do it on your own and it’s always nicer to have those upgrades from factory. So overall the product might be a little disappointing (especially aesthetically compared to the limited, like c’mon Subaru) but it’s still a good value and a recommended upgrade over the limited trim.
@strikerE92
@strikerE92 13 дней назад
They really should have just made it a performance package like the GR86, but its still pretty decent value as a OEM installed big brake kit.

I just finished breaking one of these in. 872 miles. Really all it’s missing is rev match. That would make it an incredible easy daily. Rev matching around town is hit or miss at low rpm. Its easy to get it right if you in higher revs. I feel it would be amazing quicker car around town with that feature. To me that is the only thing i would change and maybe wishbone suspension up front.
@Cichlid_Visuals
@Cichlid_Visuals 28 дней назад
they rev match just fine around town. give yourself some more time with it. i can easily blip from 6th all the way down to 2nd and even first if necessary. i found that the throttle mapping seemed to settle down after about 1300 miles.
@immunity4soul
@immunity4soul 28 дней назад
@@Cichlid_Visuals it definitely makes a difference with the shoes i am wearing at the time. With sneakers i dont get it right every time but with those barefoot shoes i wear i can do it no problem. It probably is because of break in the car is driving way differently now that i can rev it out more. And i changed the oil with motul 5w30 runs smooth now. Finally red lined it and shifts at high revs are amazing and the rev match downs above 4rpm are easy. No complaints just wish it had that feature i feel the car would be perfect with rev match for when i am wearing dress shoes or big sneakers or boots in winter.
@Cichlid_Visuals
@Cichlid_Visuals 28 дней назад
Oh 100% shoes are critical. I keep a set of driving shoes in the trunk and swap if I'm going to be wearing boots or bulky sneaks. Yea the car starts to drive quite differently after the ECU and throttle mapping have totally learned, mine has become way more responsive to small blips on the throttle.

I have a 2024 GR86 with the performance package. It drives smoother than when I had my 2023 BRZ. Throttle mapping is different. A bit easier to drive smoother. Break-in period is still in the works but hopefully I’ll get some track and autocross in eventually.

With any Miata ND 1,2, or 3 if you are going to track it you have to do suspension at the minimum. With the TS there is less you have to do now. Another advantage that any BRZ has over the Miata is its mid-range torque. Finally, as a daily the BRZ will always have it over a Miata as well as a more comfortable trip cruiser. That said it clear from reviews that the ND 3 has now better steering, a smoother engine and it's a convertible. I just don't like its "rolly polly" body roll. I used to own an Alfa GTV6. Fabulous engine note, great styling but in stock form it had a lot of body roll. I had to stiffen it up and lower it. The result was it ruined the ride. I don't know if a base Miata comes with a limited slip. But if a Club is $33 grand starting off and then you have to add 4K for the Brembo brake package you still have to do suspension. The TS seems a like quite the bargain in those terms.

Any BRZ? the first gen has a massive hole in the mid range unless you tune it.
@30hours51
@30hours51 29 дней назад
Honestly Miata is still more fun but less practical, I own a gr86 btw. Gr86 needs front camber bolt etc, the limit is alignment capability is a let down. You don’t need suspension for track use for the mx5 either, the new models with KPC just run a set of roll bars then you are good
@FATmenDRIVEtrucks
@FATmenDRIVEtrucks 29 дней назад
Biggest problem with BRZ is still engine/transmission. One day go test drive both on the same day several miles you’ll immediately be like ohhhh. Suspension is a easy fix engine/transmission isn’t simple as that

@@FATmenDRIVEtrucks I don't see that real a problem with gen 2 transmission. On the engine front perhaps if you find the right sound intake and disconnected the electric speaker(which I did), you can find a little bit better noise. An axleback also helps.

For an engine that suffers from oil starvation issues, it’s interesting to see that they’re still being promoted on the track. How many engines are REALLY going poof? 💨 And what happens to press cars once they’re done touring and being passed around? Are they scrapped?
