Given how many different S2000 examples I've driven at Thunderhill West, it was finally time to put an similarly prepped ND2 Miata to the test to see if it's as fun (and as quick) as my favorite Japanese lightweight sports car.
Mod List:
KW Clubsport coilovers (shelf spring rates)
Progress sway bars front and rear
Sway bar bracket reinforcements front and rear
Goodwin front shock tower brace
Flyin Miata midpipe
HKS catback exhaust
Stoptech front BBK
Raybestos ST-45 pads front and rear
TE37 Sonic 16x8 +35
RE71RS 215/45/16
Flyin Miata oil cooler
Verus AOS
Recaro Pole Position ABE
Guardian Designs 300mm steering wheel
Blackbird Fabworx roll bar
See how I rank the cars I've reviewed in my Zygrene Performance Index (ZPI): bit.ly/3Vo0Idd

ND1 owner with stoptech c43 kit and yeah the brakes are weird. This is probably due to some braking algorithm put in by Mazda that doesn't work well with aggressive track pads and sticky tires. I quote straight from the owners manual "When the brake pedal is depressed hard or depressed more quickly, the brakes apply more firmly. NOTE: - When the brake pedal is depressed hard or depressed more quickly, the pedal will feel softer but the brakes will apply more firmly."

Something is quirky about ND brakes imo. The amount of work it took to make my ND2s brakes feel up to par was far more than I would expect out of a 2300lbs car. Almost felt as if I didn't have enough brake boosting or something. Not sure. But it's a bizarre thing for such a tiny, low power car.
