I leased mine for $0 down and US$149/month with 10k miles/year. FYI: Subaru Leasing provided a US$7500 POS rebate replacing the US$7500 tax credit making the lease price that low. Local dealer included rubber floor mats and cargo tray since we are 4th time customers there. This was by far the most cost-effective way for us to add a family vehicle in this market. Add to that very low operating/maintenance cost to fact this car is great to drive - we could not be happier!
Here’s the thing…220 miles @ 100 to 0. If the battery is not an LFP, you’d probably take it to 80 percent, which loos off about 44 miles. It’s good for a local use car if you have a 220 charger at home. However long trips would be problematic because you would have to stop more frequently to charge. The Tesla Model Y LR which has a 310 range with an NMC battery which you could fill to 80 percent. Even then with deduction of the 20 percent, you’d get around 250 miles of range and a more dependable charging network. Saw your piece on the new CATL battery which has higher range..hopefully also in cold weather.
The next Gen Solterra is starting to look really good and although the range is less, reviewers say it holds truer to the listed EPA ranges compared to others, less loss. It’s an AWD off road vehicle, with Model Y only at 6,6” of ground clearance, and the Solterra at an amazing 8.3, for off roaders, it destroys the Y, well worth giving up some range.
Hate to tell you this, but the lease deals are $0 down and $329 a month. For that you get it’s an amazing deal. Much higher ground clearance than many too. It’s a steal! This is lithium ion as well unless I heard you wrong
They have a deal going on now for $329 a month with $0 down. I don't need more range than it has (but it would be nice to have 300+ miles). Hard to pass up, it's cheaper than my current gas car lease. Usually you need a hefty deposit to get a lease price that low for anything else.
How would anyone compare the Solterra to a Model Y? The Solterra is geared towards offroad, its chassis is way more sophisticated than the Tesla's. It doesn't give me all the offroad drive modes I have in the Subaru. So I would never take to rough terrain in it as I would with a Solterra. So don't compare prices and not even range, guys! It's just not fair!
I leased a '24 Solterra. I got like $13k off msrp with the federal rebate + dealer discount. Paying $397 a month for a car with a $52k sticker, they're really trying to move these things. The rebate+discount I got equals where the car really should have been priced from the get go, IMO. I would never actually pay $52K for my Solterra. It works great for me and my lifestyle though! I go on like 1 long trip a year and I usually rent a car anyway, even when I drove ICE cars, so its perfect for me since I charge at home
Just leased a 2024 Touring. $10k discount, $7500ease rebate plus $9000 Washington state ev rebate. $54,800 msrp down to $28,300. $188 per month with 0 down. Best deal ive ever gotten on a car by far.
I got my 23 solterra as a secondary vehicles ,just do all the city drive, not for long road trip.. it works so well. I like the look and build quality. It is not that bad like you said.
I just have to correct you a little. I own a Solterra 2023 and it already has pedal switches, and regarding the charging time in winter, there is a function in the car's settings where you can turn off the battery cooling. When you switch off the battery cooling and charge from a cold battery, you almost halve your charging time. So the Subaru Solterra is substantially better than what you say.
My BZ4 is a wonderful car. To many negative comments by paid reviewers about Toyota is a marketing strategy which will never work, TOYOTA is so reliable and real. does the BZ4 needs improvements ? yes. like the time it takes while charging? yes. but overall the BZ4 and off course the SUBARU are the best car options for buyers to take into consideration. I enjoy and Trust my BZ4.
I don't think the Solterra is there for me... yet. It just doesn't have the hang time that I'm really looking for. That being said, there aren't really any other ev's out there that do it for me either. If there are breakthroughs in EV tech like more robust solid state batteries and faster charging times, I could see something like this being my dream car. Gets me where I need to go in the long haul, can handle terrain if it gets a little rough, room in the back so I can load up stuff, and i can put up racks on top for my boards? That's definitely checks all my boxes. Hopefully they'll keep on improving on the Solterra and in the next few years, I'll see what progress they've made.
I’ve seen $9-12,000 discounts on the 2023 leftover Toyota versions in the states. Even at that price, they can still keep them. They were 12,000 overpriced to begin with and would need another 10 grand off to make them sound appealing. If GM could ever get their head out of their a$$es, they could have given the Bolt EUV 100kw fast charging and dominated all other EV’s, other than Teslas. The Bolt EUV is the type of electric car that would have gotten the masses into EV’s. If Hyundai can build a Venue EV (or something similar) and keep it under 30 grand (not including the tax credit), that would be the future Tesla Model 2 competitor.
The Bolt EUV with fast charging would be dominating right now and bringing a brand new demographic to EVs with the federal tax credits in place. I suppose that's what the Ultium version could do, but seems it was GM's desire to push for the expensive Ultium models before anything more affordable comes down the pike.
@@ooofest I will be shocked if anything priced like the EUV will come to fruition from GM. So many other automakers have the luxury EV market so to focus on that with something so obnoxious like a Hummer was such a huge miss. The Lyric? Sure. The Silverado? At the originally stated price, ok. But they spread themselves so thin and had no experience selling EV’s in volume to their customer base. There aren’t enough regular people willing to take risks on GM EV’s when you can get a Tesla that is the leader in charging networks or even Hyundai/Kia with their warranty. Yeah the battery may be covered for 8 years on a GM, but the rest of the car is only covered for 3 years/36,000 miles. Waaaay too risky. $60 grand on an already problematic Blazer or an EV9 with about 3 times the warranty.
Got 10k off my 23 SOLTERRA and I’m totally happy. We have a model 3 and Y in the family and the SOLTERRA just seems more solid and less of a throwaway vehicle.
Would you say it’s better than a model 3? I’m considering the 24 solterra vs the 24 model 3 as the solterra has a 0 apr offer and I think the same mileage as the model 3 rwd
@@Yixuidhalbh The Model 3 is the best electric vehicle period. Your talking two different types of vehicles. Think Toyota RAV4 on steroids for the SOLTERRA. Honestly anything Tesla is miles ahead.
For the look, the Solterra is above all the other one that you've named, better traction control (important in Canada) built in Japan so more reliable, a 12000 CAD taxe incentive applies in the province of Quebec.
it does qualify for a $7500 rebate at the moment in the USA IF YOU LEASE ! plus NO SALES TAX in NJ on Electric vehicles! do not let this review steer you away from this car. Just Leased mine $830 cash total out of pocket, $329 a month for 36 months.
@@oy8717 For us it was knocked off the sticker price, plus an extra $5k the salesman took off. We leased. Lease payment based on the "sale" price that was $12,500 below sticker. I assume that rolls into if you decide to buy at lease end, but I didn't pay any attention to that buyout price because we will just return it for another lease.
If the efficiency isn’t any better, then no. It’s not better. My local Subaru dealership let me borrow one for 24 hours and I used 45kWh on my commute. That’s very nearly double what I usually use. Unbelievably bad.
I bought a BZ4X. Still haven't received it. I hope it's going to be 2024 model year car which has improved software and loading cables etc. Actually Solterra was my first pick but a Subary reseller admitted it has a very poor loading speed so I choose bz4x. I got a very good deal on it. I tested also other cars like Ionic 5. It's nice but not very SUV-like. It can have 4WD but that's about it. It sits much lower to ground and doesn't have this x-mode like Solterra and bz4x
Yeah, no. Leased our '24 Solterra (Limited) for $140/mo less than I could lease a Model Y (AWD). Subaru is giving you the $7.5k incentive as well as $2.5k dealer cash and a very decent money factor. This car averages 8,000 miles per year, Level 1 (120 V) charging has been more than sufficient for us. Don't have to worry about depreciation when leasing, so it's risk-free. Would have looked at Tesla if their pricing was competitive, but it just isn't.
I just bought it last weak. I think this car is a mass. It is a powerful car. will go to 100 mph within 2 sec. but in highway it goes 1.5 miles barely per percent. so calculate. also CCU charge. hardly you will find any place for charge it. at home it takes 50 hrs. to charge with the plug it came with. Its a no no car.
Rented a 2023 Suburu Solterra from Hertz and it could only pull 15-19kw from rapid chargers. Totally useless. Apparently, it's a known limitation - what a joke. Hertz should never rent those 2023 models. Lesson learned.
The Solterra actually drives nicely and has good features, but was overpriced for the range and poor charging capabilities, IMHO. A mixed bag, where the capacity and charging speed made that too negative to consider. For the first time in over twenty years, I'm moving away from Subaru and finding an EV elsewhere, unfortunately.
Hey Sam sorry to report that you are still being heavily spammed by somebody on a regular basis. I report these guys when I see them but every video has at least one of them
I can't comprehend anyone releasing a car with such an appalling range in 1994, let alone 2024. I have had a number of Subarus and think highly of them (despite the dreadful dealership experiences I've had in several states), but I'll avoid the Solterra like the plague. It doesn't seem to be a good car in any way, let alone a good Subaru. And at almost $90k (currently the starting price) for the touring version - and with some suspicious-looking asterisks opposite many of the "indicative" features (but no explanation as to what those asterisks refer to that I could find), who in their right mind would choose one of these over an EV5 or Tesla Y LR? Or _any_ other vehicle on the market? Even Subaru Oz doesn't think this will be worth buying, because instead of trumpeting its imminent release on the home page, the only vehicles specifically mentioned were petrol-powered models, and also a fair amount of space to where you can find a dealership.
Because knowledge of the characteristics of cars does not depend on having the money to buy what you recommend. Buying cancer treatments for his wife might actually be more important to him.
I have one and l live in Norway and the claims made by you are not true. I have a real world range of 240 klms. Charging time is still slow. I would say it is not worth the many. In fact it is junk.
Eva should never have started as long vehicles they should’ve been started as small and even extra small city vehicles to relieve congestion and no2 pollution get the other heavy sled suvs and light pickup
Makes sense why these are relatively minor upgrades but not sure why they need to improve anything since EVs will never amount to more than 30% of the market and hybrids and hydrogen are the correct solutions according to their Toyota masters.
Why the hell would I spend $44,000 on a Soltera when the Tesla Model Y is selling for $39,000 with longer range, etc. I don't drive off road. Geesh. BTW--the seats in the Subaru Soltera are absolutel garbage---from Toyota. Why didn't Subaru use seats like the ones in my Subaru Forester? Seriousliy? I love the seats in my 2020 Subaru forester. Super comfortable. The seats in this $44,000 Subaru EV are Cheap, lack the support and comfort of the Subaru Forester seats. Same crap seats toyota uses in cheaper Suvs. GEESH. Why? Why? Subaru would you put crap Toyota seats in your Solera! Unbelieveable. FAIL!!!!
Why would people buy a subaru soltera or a hyundai ionic 5 vs. Tesla model Y is beyond me. People like to throw their hard earned money into the garbage. Soltera has very bad range and ill bet it has a very bad battery pack that probably will die right after the warranty expires just like the Ionic 5.
EV Charging Education: Putting a 400V system onto a 350KW charger is ridiculous, a waste of money, and occupies a spot that an 800V battery can take advantage Vast majority of EVs use a 400V system, Stick with a max od 250KW chargers. Your EV will not charge better on a 350 KW station unless it is an 800V system. Porsche Kia & Hyundai are a few that can use a 350KW charger. Even the Hyundai Kona EV cannot.
